Yeah, that's an interesting thing to say. We all know it, but I never thought about it like that. The sun of the parts really has produced one of the most remarkable creative journeys in music history.
The guitar forest island represents the instrument as fertile ground for his self expression. The spirit leaving the space suit when it gets to the island represents that he is only truly in his element when playing his guitar. It is such a beautiful tribute to his instrument. 🖤
I so so agree. It’s like the falling before he and his guitar became one was barren and then between them they created a world that we all stand in awe of. Well I do.
@@stephen9944 it is but at the same time it kinda isn't. If you know what you're looking for (ie if you're a guitar gearhead that knows more or less what it's in there and what contributes to which part of what you're hearing), you can spot the differences, just like a guy that details cars for a living know exactly what kind of paint any given car have on. Now if you're just the average listener it's very similar to what you'd expect from a alt-metal guitar. And if you play guitar and are trying to emulate his sound it's not that hard to get there with common gear. it's not VERY different, but it's unique. You know it's him just like you know someone's voice when you hear it (also because of what he plays - how his mind work musically, and how he plays it - the way he feels the instrument and his way of doing it)
I had the chance to meet Adam Jones in the L.A. airport three years ago. We only talked for a couple minutes but he is a super down to earth guy and you can tell he really cares about his fans
Gibson finally realises it’s 2020 and what social media is for! This is how to introduce a new guitar. Amazing concept and perfectly executed. You should hire Adam Jones as your Creative Director.
As much as I love Maynard, this song makes me realize how much it’s more about Justin, Danny, and Adam when it comes to why I love Tool. This song was fantastic!
I think it's great that when Adam had to write this solo track, unrelated to tool, he could have chosen any bass player and any drummer in the world to accompany him, and he still chose Justin and Danny.
The pedantic response would be that without MJK, it's not technically Tool, but all that aside I agree with you. I've had the same though; maybe the 3 of them could be called something else for the purposes of releasing an instrumental album, IDK.
The first minutes I'm like: Mh, this sounds like John Carpenter + Adam Jonesy progressions, it's cool to hear Adam messing around with fake orchestra sounds and synths. At 5:19: Wait a minute that bass tone... At 5:43: HOLY SHIT IT CAN'T BE 6:30 DON'T WASTE IDEAS ON PROMOTIONAL VIDEOS!!!

One thing that strikes me is how well keyboards/synths fit in and add incredible presence and ambience to the "Tool sound". AJ did a brilliant job with this and it raises the question, would Tool ever consider adding keyboards/synths to new music to a greater extent than they have done in the past? I can only imagine what would happen if Tool were to collaborate with incredible keyboard musicians like Ott, or Ed Wynne (Ozric Tentacles), or legendary prog rockers like Tony Carey or Rick Wakeman. AJ and the rest of Tool are brilliant artists and every new album explores new territory in musicianship, so you never know.
I might go the NIN way and slightly customise a Les Paul Studio for, Oh about 1200 bucks total And I won't even bother burning this soundtrack. Big Tool fan, always bought their every CD /DVD But this whole thing is absolute shite, at an insulting price. They even pulled the ACTUAL SILVER burst guitars that were selling for an already high 5K

Gibson: Hey, for your signature guitar, we'd like to sit down and interview you, talk about your influences, things like that.
Adam: I hate talking about gear.
Gibson: ...
Adam: I could make the ad for you instead.
Gibson: Sure.
It`s crazy how talented every member of Tool is.
They could make a instrumental wine tasting exhibit and supply everything
Justin, eh...
Yeah, that's an interesting thing to say. We all know it, but I never thought about it like that. The sun of the parts really has produced one of the most remarkable creative journeys in music history.
@@disasterdujour take that back
@@disasterdujour aint no way you just said "eh..." to Justin dawg
Of course. Danny Carey steals the show again. 👏👏
I wouldn’t go that far. I say perfect compliment instead
Not today, but he rocked hard there! When Justin entered, i smiled!!!
@@rafanj824 Everyone does ;)
Greatest drummer of all time
Age is just a number for him
The guitar forest island represents the instrument as fertile ground for his self expression. The spirit leaving the space suit when it gets to the island represents that he is only truly in his element when playing his guitar. It is such a beautiful tribute to his instrument. 🖤
Beautifully said.
I feel... The 2nd part is more about showing that he has put his heart & soul in creating that masterpiece.❤️
Possibly a little nod to "As above so below" with the island?
I so so agree. It’s like the falling before he and his guitar became one was barren and then between them they created a world that we all stand in awe of. Well I do.
There are not many guitarists that developed a tone like Adam did.
It's not much different than most heavy stuff. 🤷
I think its a very special kind, but you have your ears and i have mine.
@@madlipzjagd5378 It's subjective and all in your head. 🤷
@@gmmakesmehurl it is very different, but nutsacks don't have ears so you get a pass.
You know it's him just like you know someone's voice when you hear it (also because of what he plays - how his mind work musically, and how he plays it - the way he feels the instrument and his way of doing it)
This feels like it could have been a build up/ lead in song to 7empest.
Was about to say that, very similar progression to 7empest, which is AWESOME.
@@lucascochese glad I wasn’t the only one that heard it ;)
It sounds like Descending.
Imagine this being one of the segues on the album! What a blast that would have been.
7empest was supposed to be 20 minutes long, this could have been cut to save space on the CD version of the album maybe
No, each signature artist should do this. To express themselves as an individual
Adam Jones fans be like “aight who’s got the tab?!” 😂🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻badass vid
Lmao.....I was thinking this halfway through...
@@HSBRafiki D minor pentatonic. Very occasional b2 and #4
No tab needed.
@@DavidOakesMusic I don't think Adam Jones knows other scales.
Max Niessel already has it out :)
This is descending without Maynard
So badass. Only Adam Jones would introduce his signature guitar like this. So proud of him. Congrats genius 👏👏👏🤘🤘🤘
I am going to require an Adam Jones-Icons epidsode. Please and thank you.
This Gibson
I would love to see that!!
Yes please!
@@nic0vide0 Please!!!!
I would buy a Tool instrumental album today. When these three play anything...I want it. Danny and Justin are two of the greatest ever!
The pedantic response would be that without MJK, it's not technically Tool, but all that aside I agree with you. I've had the same though; maybe the 3 of them could be called something else for the purposes of releasing an instrumental album, IDK.
Gibson needs to develop an album's worth of guitars.
The first minutes I'm like: Mh, this sounds like John Carpenter + Adam Jonesy progressions, it's cool to hear Adam messing around with fake orchestra sounds and synths.
At 5:19: Wait a minute that bass tone...
At 5:43: HOLY SHIT IT CAN'T BE
6:30 DON'T WASTE IDEAS ON PROMOTIONAL VIDEOS!!!
I know! Only Justin sounds like that.
I wish they had used this during the Fear Inoculum shows. Like after CCT or something similar
C’mon, it was never going to be Meh....
As soon as the other instruments come in you know who's playing together again! I was even waiting for Maynard to give us some vocals 😂
My favorite part is the beginning, first few minutes.. If that doesn't make you reflect on life a bit nothing will. Fucking incredible.
At first I thought like you: Don't waste the idea on a promotional video... and then... somewhere between listen #6 and 11... I was glad they did it.
Dear RUclips,
If you had more adds like that, I would GLADLY pay more attention to them. Hell, I'll rent DVDs from Blockbuster just to have more ads like this.
There is a bit of a “Tubular Bells” vibe to this . Love it. Didn’t know when I woke up today I would have new Tool music waiting for me.
i was wondering why this sounds somehow familiar to me ! Yes this is it Tubular bells vibes.
Everybody has been waiting for this Gibson release. I'm waiting for a Chancellor Bass. Waiting...forevermore.
The crazy thing is I'd never heard of Adam Jones and Tool, now I'm completely hooked. Also I suggest any who hasn't heard this through a proper stereo get to one ASAP, you're really missing out
That bassline😍
2 things
1. When you ask why this guitar is so expensive remember CGI ain’t cheap
2. If Adam Jones puts this much effort into a guitar launch, exchanging Xmas gifts must be something else
Ikr. The attention to detail and making sure everything is the best of the best is so cool. Its probably awesome receiving gifts from him 😂😂
It would be awesome if they actually incorporated this into their live shows. Imagine this on their big screen while they play..Tell me that wouldn't blow the roof off 🔥🔥
Every TooL song gives me the chills. Must be some holy magic
Surely this is all I need to sound like Adam now.
Lol
6k$ to sound like adam :D
The bass tone is so cool
This is the most badass advertisement ever. Long Live Adam Jones and Tool!
Well ladies and gentleman, we pretty much just got a new Tool song with this one. It's such a profound entry as well; I hope they use it on the next album in some form. Thanks for the heavenly melody once more and congrats Adam on your signature guitar!
Speechless. The artistic level of this. The quality of everything. Absolutely second to none.
When that bass hit🤯
Son: "Dad, why is my sister named Rose?"
Me: "Because your mother loves Roses"
Son: "Thanks, Dad"
Me: "No problem, The Witness by Adam Jones Introduces The Gibson 1979 Les Paul Custom"
Bahaha. Fuck. Bad enough I already have two kids named Tool.
Haha reminds me of my kids, Prison Sex and Stinkfist
Very few people will understand this

They should do another instrumental song for Justin’s Wal!
And every piece of Danny’s kit

Please rock gods give us this.
Honestly, I'd love an entirely instrumental album from Tool. Don't get me wrong, I love Maynard, but Tool's music already says a lot without words. I'd be very curious to hear what an all all instrumental Tool album would sound like.
I was thinking the same thing. I love that wal sound so much
I want a 24 hour version of this song. Cant stop listening to it.
This should've been included in the fear inoculum track. Such a beautiful song and an astonishing music video. And to think this is only a promo video for his guitar. Talented musicians with such unique tone and imagery.
Sounds like Descending and 7empest spinoffs. Very nice.
the wait for Danny and Justin to come in was infinite! and then when it hits, it feels like home. Adam is a freaking GOD! his tones melt me.
Felt like home indeed buddy !!!
Wow, 800k views on a guitar ad; not a famous guitarist interview but a guitar ad which also shows the guitar only at the last 2 minutes. Shows how great this ad is and great Tool is. Absolutely love it
Imagine dropping this for Super Bowl? Millions would be wondering what the hell got slipped into the cheese dip.
😂😂😂 ikr.
A 7.5 minute long commercial during the super bowl would bankrupt them lol
SB is so overrated, the entire game is to be honest, hours upon hours of boredom, almost as bad as watching a game of baseball or golf.
Damn now I want cheese dip smh
This is absolutely amazing. The perfect marriage between Tool and 80s synth. My body *needs* a record of this!
Adam Could drop his guitar on the ground and id probably dig the vibe of the sound it makes. So good. Spiral...
Easily the best Gibson ad ever. Adam Jones signature Les Paul is well deserved.
Falling isn't flying, floating isn't infinite.
Adam is by far.....a very very long way....the finest guitar player that has ever picked up a pick. Don't believe me? Doubt me? Just go listen to all 15 mins of Tempest then come back here and tell me I'm wrong.
Very true 7empest is a true masterpiece

I can’t believe it - Tool gave the world a new song in 2020. I’m so emotional all of a sudden. This is truly the best day I’ve had all year. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
What we really want is an instrumental Tool album
I just want another TOOL album.
NO! there is no Tool without Maynard.
No!
Lol why not both guys why not both
Maynard took more of a backseat on Fear Inoculum and I think it worked really well. The parts he does sing are that much more epic.
AJ and the rest of Tool are brilliant artists and every new album explores new territory in musicianship, so you never know.
there's more than just your average instrument in almost every tool album.
Ed Wynne MUST play the guitar, sorry.
they did in FI...not as much but FI was by far their most electronic and ambient album
When it fades out it just feels like it's not supposed to end.
Might be a tease for a new tool album????
It never will lol
Please don’t give me hope
I will buy this guitar only if it comes with a cd featuring this song.
That would be so cool!!!
I might go the NIN way and slightly customise a Les Paul Studio for, Oh about 1200 bucks total
And I won't even bother burning this soundtrack. Big Tool fan, always bought their every CD /DVD
But this whole thing is absolute shite, at an insulting price.
They even pulled the ACTUAL SILVER burst guitars that were selling for an already high 5K
I want the vinyl of this... and ill get 2 of them
Adam Jones with Justin & Danny, pure instrumental TOOL. Possibilities are unknown OUTFKNSTANDING !!!
I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a guitar more than this one. I guess the fact I can’t have one goes some way to fuelling that feeling!
Gibson both thrives and counts on that "unabtanioum" feeling to excuse the crazy prices and I've got some experience in expensive Gibson guitars and I for one don't think they are worth the money but hey...
if you want to pay your kidney, i'd say go for it
I don’t think it’s worth it, but I still want one!!!! 😩
That was incredible - love Tool and love Adam Jones
