- I took Maynard's isolated vocals from the album and edited (added) them in as closely as I could to somewhat resemble how he'd been performing it live as of late. He added an extra verse and at the build up to the gong hit. If you're not in the mood to watch the whole video, 12:15 starts new MJK vocal additions up to the Gong hit.
By no means is this perfect, but you get the idea. Hopefully Tool will someday release a proper recording of this alt version like they did with Pushit on Salival.

A little too close to what you experience during an intense trip - I got the feeling that I've been here before... The eyes and the geometrical patterns were very familiar. Falling or rising through layers of creation back to the source. Made my hair stand up on my arms. This music and the lyrics narrated the experience very well. But it still can't quite describe it fully - like trying to describe what an ocean is with just a thimble of water. You have to experience it for yourself...

I have been in love with this song since the first time I heard it. Truly a work of art. It is a masterpiece. I have always felt like it was meant to be more though. It felt.... unfinished. Maybe this is what was envisioned or close. And maybe that's what Maynard is doing now vocally but... I don't know, the original is excellent, but if they were to release a revised version with a little more work it may be more along the lines of parabol/parabola or something.

Tool should work on a Sci-fi movie or a movie about time, from the beginning to till now. Almost like a Discovery Channel show but all the art and music and themes are made by TOOL.

I recently heard on a local radio station here where I live (Omaha, NE) right after they played Forty-Six & Two, that in a recent interview with Maynard, he stated that ever since this whole digital technology boom, people have for the most part, been downloading and streaming only songs, causing CD and album sales to plummet. And not just for Tool but for a lot if not most bands out there today. He was also quoted to saying that because of Tool's hiatus or break from producing and releasing new material, that he feels that they(Tool) have as that old saying goes: "Missed the boat". And therefore they have missed out on the opportunity to expand their fan base of which the long-term consequences will never be fully known. But in light of their creative hiatus and lack of progress... be rest assured that we(Tool fans) have not heard the last of them!!
@bigd3886 As long as they're making music it's good enough for me, I've seen them live 3 times and it's always been a great experience! I once heard that they wanted to make The Wall style movie which would be amazing and with all the technology available it wouldn't be that difficult and it seems like Adam Jones always had a knack for making cool videos and am a bit surprised he hasn't found a creative outlet for those things with today's technology.. I'm sure he's got things going on but feels to me like Tool has been neglected for the past 20 years in certain areas altho they do put on amazing shows it would be cool if they did some live recordings like Metallica does for example. And as far as videos go, it would expand their fanbase.. Like my favorite band now Spiritbox, keeps putting out amazing videos and they've reached me and most definitely helped expand their fanbase! BTW, this video is awesome!

I've seen Tool live here in Omaha, which I think was 1994? Maybe 1996? Not sure. I've got the ticket from the show somewhere. Maynard came out on stage in what looked like a men's bikini or thong underwear with his entire body painted/covered in a dark grey color and then at various random spots he had these neon blue eyeballs stuck all over, around 15 to 20 of them. Looked so bizarre!! And it was a hell of a show!! I went to a record collector's show about a year after their first album came out and found a bootleg Tool CD which had about 14 tracks on it which were recorded from 2 different live performances. It cost $25 which at that time was the standard rate for a bootleg CD of any band whether you found them at a record collector's show, a music store, a flea market or any other obscure place. And at one point on that bootleg Tool CD, between 2 songs, Maynard says this: "You know what I think Alternative music is? Jocks with Punk Rock haircuts!" It made me laugh because I grew up being a skate punk starting at the age of 15 when I was a Sophomore in high school. I still have my original Powell Peralta skate board from 1985 which I paid $160 for and today, it's worth a small fortune. Anyways, I've babbled on long enough. Thanks for replying.
