This is absolutely epic. It gave me chills when i first heard this in 1997, and it still gives me chills when i hear it today. The composition is a real masterpiece. It produces an unbelievabily dense and great atmosphere, which no game since this time reached. Just Love it! One of the best pieces of Game Music ever created....no...one of the Best overall Music pieces ever compsed!!!!
The whole Unreal soundtrack is just EPIC. Nuff said! Thank you Alexander Brandon and Michiel van den Bos again and again! You gentlemen rock the house! PERIOD.
I hope the composers of the Unreal soundtrack realize they are in the video game history books forever as far as I’m concerned. I played Unreal when it first came out in 1998 and the music still runs through my head regularly. What they created was legendary!!
I remember getting this game as a bonus with my soundblaster Live. I cannot express what i felt when i entered this world. It was like magic, it consumed me, took me from the real world and put me in a fantastic, melagholic, epic, full of fears world. Every single time i loaded this game i felt the same way. Graphics technology, gameplay AI and music composition expressed the high intelligence of its creators. Respect EPIC.
The intense of the atmosphere due to the atmospheric levels and this superb Soundtrack were so amazing. You almost believed that Na Pali was a real existing world. Unreal 1 is unbeatable. It was from the Times when Games were made to impress not only with their graphics.
7:17 I remember this track playing when I was reading a data log from a guy who had died searching for his lost love, Kira, a fellow crewmember from the ISV-Kran. I was so hoping to find her alive....
Unreal was epic for anyone who played it when it was new. Unfortunately, it was overshadowed by Half Life at the time (which was truly stellar as well), so a lot of people forget about what a great game it was. Amazing graphics, inventive weapons, HUGE, beautiful environments and consistent world, wonderful music, solid gameplay, and even a nice story. Unreal immersed in its world like few FPS games do. Truly a wonderful, underappreciated game.
I'd like to rate Quake 1, and Unreal equally as the best game OST's ever made in game history. The golden age of gaming, and sadly long gone are those great days..
neglesaks wow! Its an awesome experience. to me NaPali was better than the original game. its hard to explain in words but Unreal and NaPali made a huge impact in my childhood and especially my appreciation towards gaming. it was an amazing experience at the time, and still is today.
@@SorelyFrigid Hahaha I know this comment section old by I thought I was the only one making such fights. Summon 100 skaarjtroopers and fly above them - enjoy the light works!
Im playing it for the first time now, at 23 years old, and i know its going to be one of my favourite games ever. Its not just nostalgia of those who played it years ago, the game is perfect, yesterday and today.
Man..what a difference between beginning and the final part!0:00-2:00 cold and alienated, then little misterious and disquieted,5:40-5:50 is like "ok dude ure fucked up,there is no way for u to survive after all u went threw" and from 5:50 ..joy,sadness,hope i cant describe what i feel:)
It takes a LONG time to skydive off the top of the Sunspire. The only games I can think of since then that have such huge vertical drops are 'Stone Pit' from Painkiller or Trinity Towers from Fallout 4.
This game and it's soundtrack are not only fovever part of video game history, but they're part of my personal history. It's been several years and I keep coming back to the soundtrack. It's just amazing, a real trip, an adventure. I'll never forget it. I wish the new generations could experience it the way we did.
Hmmm not for me. I still think the first Unreal is an experience on its own. While not perfect and very late '90s (Half-Life itself was deeper), it's simply UNIQUE.
After 7:20 it feels like after ascending the spire, at the peak, you reach high into the air and sweep the very stars with your hands. Time and space slip between your fingers, and all the mysteries of every world appear to you.
Always loved the Unreal composers and this track specifically brings back wonderful memories, especially the second part when it gets more rhythmic. classic
Apparently Epic Games said with the release of Unreal 4 Tech Engine, they haven't forgotten about Unreal and are going to plan a remake of the Iconic first game. We can only pray Epic Games brings this to fruition
This place is so calm and beatiful. But a hell to orientate in!! I get stuck in the elevators and dark chambers all the time. Btw ever tried to ride the fastest elevator and shoot a razor straight upwards? The elevator is faster so the razor will hit yourself. xD
i just started playing this game again a few days ago and yesterday i was on this level i actually backtraked and got lost on purpose just to hear this music and no other level has made me do that yet so i guess thats the effect that unreal masterpiece music has on you.
I absolutely love this tune, i have so many fond memories of playing this game. The maps were huge! I always loved the map where the big spaceship crashes infront of a small pittoresque village. Goddamn it I have to download it again, lol.
The part that starts around 7:00 mark is amazing, especially if you climb to the top of the spire and than jump down, takes good 15 seconds to fall all the way.
this is the part where you have to fight the giant gorilla-alien at the beginning of the valley with a few nali houses there too? Was my fave tune in the game.
With latest patch 1.27 on oldunreal the music is way better quality during gameplay. Unreal is now an immortal software, a unique gem of videogames, from 22 years.
From 0:49 to 1:40 this becomes a real masterpiece of music art in my opinion. This single track produces more atmosphere than all that crap together that is played in present games.
i think this is Sunspire, the song Surfacing is for Gateway (i managed to save the Nali they try to push off, only for him to run off the edge X.X) but when entering the Sunspire look to your left and you see a Nali come flying down into the lava
The problem is; what games now adays are worth replaying? I mean, there are a few, like Halo or Starcraft 2 but really, Unreal is a game you could play over and over and still find something new, must be my tenth play-through of the game and I've just discovered that mining ship in the first level on Unreal:Gold. That and you can just get the feeling of discovery even if you know where you're going.
GamesHarder ™ That would take billions of eras to make a new storyline for Unreal 3. Plus, Legend Entertainment already ruined the continuity in my opinion. So Unreal + Unreal Engine 4 = Unreal HD.
Funny, i thought the same thing a while ago, but i just played it yesterday and went up random elevators and made it to the exit fairly easily. Still took a while, but not really any backtracking. Damn, this game is awesome.
@RandomGenerator100 Yeah, I really like it the most starting at around 6:00, with the part you're talking about being the best. Too bad that part didn't go on for longer. I could listen to that for a long time. Love Unreal 1 and Deus Ex 1 music!
O yes the sunsspire great level design, the middle part of the song does not play ingame. 5.40 and further play's when you're in the sunspire and on top of it. 7.16 and so on: beautiful.
Unreal had some of the best music in video game history.
This is absolutely epic. It gave me chills when i first heard this in 1997, and it still gives me chills when i hear it today. The composition is a real masterpiece. unreal sent us to another world!
Playing it right now for the first time, cant believe how good it is.
Alexander Brandon and Michiel Van De Bos. Two musical genius
Game and soundtracks were made with heart and soul
Unreal music is extermely under-rated. Simply one of the best soundtracks for a game ever.
Probably the greatest game soundtrack ever made.
not probably. this is a fact
Pekaes Lego One of the ;) Too many contenders for the top spot!
Its the greatest game soundtrack in my book.
@@pekaeslego1842 I dunno man. Deus ex, System Shock...
5:35 starts my favorite part leading to a really awesome melody (7:26)! I'm about to cry..
yeah, the third part (since 5:25) is pretty great, love it myself
It's the part you remember from this theme. :D
Michiel Van Den Bos really outdone himself with this track. It's like the song is saying, "Good night, Na Pali...."
I just finally beat Unreal 1998 the entire game using fly with Windows 95D Lite on VMWare 16 Pro
it's like Deus Ex, if you mention it, someone WILL reinstall it
The soundtrack of this game is a total masterpiece.
Many will appreciate this =) Sunspire (Unreal) ~ Finale Loop Edit

I would of included Turok 2 plus Return to castle wolfenstein
Oh the childhood memories. 1998/1999. van Den Bos you're the man!
Adam D. Wasn't Unreal '97?
neglesaks Unreal came out in 98, and NaPali in 99.
Thanks man. Never go around to trying Na Pali. In fact I never knew of it until i got the Anthology soundtrack....

It must've been.Ill check it out - thanks.
7 guys didn´t reach the top and felt into the lava
Juicio87 Let's hope there isn't someone playing on unreal difficulty who gets ambushed by the pupae in the dark.
Im jumping into lava with skaarjs and kralls for fun. Ah so nostalgic, so many memories...
SorelyFrigid There's no Krall is that level.
Jake Yatta
summon krall or summon krallelite twice There u go I like to make monster wars there

Whole Unreal soundtrack are pure pleasure and amazing sci-fi tribal techno-ambient album that i worship and love.
I wanna go back in time and experience this anew.
I am with you, fucking reality throwing spanners in the works.~
FUCK YOU REALITY

I listened to this while playing Subnautica. I'm convinced it's the REAL Unreal 2.

The prison ship. The screams of those who were killed by the Skarij behind the steel door still frightning me.
It takes a LONG time to skydive off the top of the Sunspire. The only games I can think of since then that have such huge vertical drops are 'Stone Pit' from Painkiller or Trinity Towers from Fallout 4.
Gala's Peak
The soundtrack of this unreal is very epic and magic at once
This reminds me a lot of Donkey Kong Country in the drums and other little details. This is a 90's sound that I don't think anyone will replicate.
5:45 onward is my fav part :) sweet sweet unreplaceable memories no money can buy
This is where games were about game play and graphics were a bonus. In this games' case the graphics were way ahead of its time!
I love how those drums start playing at 03:30. I always imagined it like seeing a group of Skaarj in the distance. Feels so epic!
Will we have another game that's gonna have half the soul as Unreal did?
We need a Unreal HD Remake
and unreal 3, pure single player
My favorite level, with Vendora temple
This game and it's soundtrack are not only fovever part of video game history, but they're part of my personal history. It's been several years and I keep coming back to the soundtrack. god i love unreal..
just amazing....
The sequel, "Return to Na-Pali" is pretty good and picks up where the original left off. The music is just as good, if not better.
Hmmm not for me. I still think the first Unreal is an experience on its own. While not perfect and very late '90s (Half-Life itself was deeper), it's simply UNIQUE.
Absolutely breathtaking and incredibly haunting. Just hearing it gives me a huge flood of feelings, memories and images.

thats my favorite game 2, atmosphere is such unreal and song makes that scary on some way. this is probably the best game ever made...
mogę tego słuchać w nieskończoność.super!
One of the most epic game music of all times, trully piece of art!
The Shivers down my Spine...
So many years after, I still can't get over how good this game and its soundtrack is.
reminds me of going through the many rooms in the sunspire.....and the darkened hallways......
oh god, this is a videogame!!!the first level escaping from the ship...a masterpiece!!!
Apparently Epic Games said with the release of Unreal 4 Tech Engine, they haven't forgotten about Unreal and are going to plan a remake of the Iconic first game. We can only pray Epic Games brings this to fruition
I come from the future... And unfortunetaly, Epic abandonded Unreal due Fortnite.
Axatar for president. Before 7:15, its something. . .mystical. . .unreal.
5:40 when the sunspire music starts (the faster part starts at 7:16). Unforgettable music and unforgettable level.
Best video game soundtrack ever
This place is so calm and beatiful. But a hell to orientate in!! I get stuck in the elevators and dark chambers all the time.

Best soundtrack part of Unreal I.

I used to get stuck in the sunspire for hours, and I loved it.
it is so true what you say, even though
its an old game i still play it,because
it has everything.
it is the perfect game.
lolz i was 6 years old when i first played unreal back in 98/99 haha....still play it now XD

My favorite song! THANK YOU!!!
Unreal, back in time, games were made to be played, not to be sold.
I once learned (by ear) how to play the whole end after 7:05 on acoustic guitar! :D
Unreal, this is how computer games were meant to be!
the most rememberable level and the most rememberable melody apart from the main unreal theme.
Love this game.
