I started playing Unreal very recently, and it's instantly become one of my favorite games. This game shimmers through its age with its screaming passion, engaging gameplay, colorful luminosity, and immersive experience. I've known old PC graphics when I was much younger, but damn, this game is *beautiful,* and it has a fantastic soundtrack to match. This song and Dusk Horizon are among my favorites here.
that's exactly what i think, and i love dusk horizon too,so atmospheric it's hard to find soundtracks better than it..Another game which i love is Hitman 2 silent assassin his musics will stay in my heart..i mean the H2 exploration track and the russian track
Unreal was pretty much state of the art when it released in 98, and was a benchmark game for a number of years. You needed a hell of a PC at the time to max it out with a decent framerate.
The Skaarj escape pod has broken free from the planet's gravitational pull... barely, Yet its fuel is depleted and you drift aimlessly. From where many have died, you have escaped. You laugh to yourself: so much has happened, but little has changed. Before the crash landing, you were trapped in a cramped cell. Now, once again you are confined in a prison. But, you feel confident that someone will come upon your small vessel... eventually. Until then, you drift and hope. To be Continued...
A. Brandon is a musical genius. Who can make sound tracks sounds so impressive like him? And he can show that with synthesizer is possible to make a masterpiece.
I know this is an old comment but there was a few of this calibre who were part of the old demoscene/tracker scene (Brandon amongst them) many of whom became part of or did some work for video game companies like Epic and Remedy - groups like Future Crew, Fairlight and people like Teque, Purple Motion and Skaven, etc.
I know this is an old reply but YT didn't show me any notifications. First of all - sorry for my English, I was just a dumb kid when I wrote it. I didn't know it was acctually composed both by Alex and Michiel. Still, this track after all these years of searching new music remains one of the most beautiful I've ever heard - it moves me to tears, so I listen to this only on special occassions. Quite forgotten demoscene has a lot of great tracks in electronic music, which I dig a lot these days (thanks to the guys from Straylight Productions, and I follow their works nowadays, too). Gotta check all your suggestions, thanks!

Yes... Now they're working on Unreal Redux... The all maps still the same, but they enhanced the enemies and player shoot projectiles, the structures of the places... Its look way better than the original one
Alexander Brandon, Michiel van den Bos and Spencer Nilsen did some of the most brilliant video game music during the 90's. This is another perfect example of why.
This game was truly a piece of art. They spent so much time detailing the natural environments just as much as the mechanical elements. Coupled with music like this, it was quite an experience.

this music represents to me that you survived as prisoner 849 that you endured all they could throw at you you survived where no one else could. you, prisoner 849, survived UNREAL.
@Ravebow_Dash I agree to some extent, though I would switch Unreal and Unreal Tournament's scores, mainly because of the multiplayer community that was active on Unreal Tournament back then, while Unreal didn't have such a vast playerbase. Unreal Tournament 3 was sort of disappointing at first because of the clunky gameplay, but I grew to like it after some time. And also, 2k4 was the real deal back then, still play it from time to time even now.
OK, people, listen up! As of December 15, 2022, Epic has made the foolish decision to shut down official multiplayer support for this game, Unreal Tournament 1999, and Unreal Tournament 2004 due to them being "old and crap," in rough terms. Objective is simple: Stop them by any means necessary, even if it means giving bloody Fortnite the Team Fortress 2 and Titanfall treatment, *if you know what I mean.* #SaveUnreal #SaveUnrealTournament

@Sceptorful right. First time I heard this tune I thought that prehaps the prisoner thinks "goodbye, nali, without you this place would be an even worse nightmare!" Just hearing this really makes me think - maybe when prisoner 849 left, half the planet's population alerady knew him/her - and the escape pod caught the eyes of nali that might be there. Probably a bit sorrowing for them to see their rescuer leaving...
Definitely one of the best games ever made.
