The poor man sends his three sons to be servants, for nice clothes, wine and a wife. The faith of the smallest boy, Martin, is the hardest, as he performs his task at a toad, but after all his award will be the nicest, his will be the princess conjured into the toad, and he becomes the king.

Ah I see. The biggest life hack is to be blonde, the youngest sibling and be willing to do whatever animals you find in the forest tell you to do.
And not to be evil, can't forget that.
@@jonmusicia2595 his comment implies he already is now
And grateful
No its to be a furry and getting people to do your job, and pay them in cheap wine.
Better love stories than twilight
Of course! This is one of the best!
Yeah, and the characters are likeable
I love the narrator of the stories
Want a new suit ?
*Go work for a whole year morning to night*
Everything is so damn expensive in life and jobs are so hard to find.( real life) I think the frog was trying to find out what he liked best while he was there and how he acted, remember she was really a princess. He probably was treated well. He knew what wine he liked, probably ate well too.
No fratricide what sorcery is this
The frog burning kind.
This is why they say not to lick toads
actually i think this is one of the few tales when the man and woman got to know each other and make a friendship bond before getting married, even if she was cursed lol
I like that. :3

Me too!
One day you’re cutting wood, another you’re suddenly performing dark rituals in the forest.
Like a real man should
Sounds like a normal Saturday morning to me
I have a calendar that I use to keep track of which day I do which
Considering it was actually a curse breaker i think it wasn't dark magic.
WHAT FOREST?
I love how absolute fashion disasters his brothers are
Same 😂😂
Jaja
Ooo, I really liked this one. No brothers murdering each other out of jealousy, and in fact the brother even gave his other brothers a sizable amount of money when he didn't have to.
I like it when they murder eatchother
He did kill a lot of frogs though
I love my siblings and would do the same thing
It happens in case of women
I enjoyed the friendship between Martin and the frog. So that he hesitated in doing what she had asked him at the end. :)
i really love how their relationship started out as friendship, and how martin grow to care so much for the frog ^^ it brought a smile to my face
This is why I like this show, it has a lot of unusual but heartwarming romance sorta like Steven universe or beauty and the beast
True
@@msk-qp6fn exactly
4:42 This moment brought a smile to my face. I found it very sweet that Martin reached down and carried "his Frog" by the third time he returned to for the Frog ^0^
*“...The man had three sons. The youngest son was Martin.”*
Other sons: _Are we a joke to you?_
Maybe the other 2 were Peter and Paul?
Back to The Future anyone? The protagonist's name is also a variation of Martin, and he's the third child.
Who cares they're not blonde 😂😂
The older brothers never do anything in these kinds of stories, they are just there to be assholes at best
Usually in these stories, yes.
How to know your son is ready to get married
1 - He has some decent clothes
2 - can buy/earn his own beer
3 - Does whatever his boss tells him so long as he gets paid.
Checks out...
You mean wine
Good points! :D
Good point.
Hahaha
@idiotsss liveagain Yeah well, the other 2 brothers were doing very well -- getting by, feeding themselves, clothing themselves, starting households.
Martin single-handedly destroy the eco-system lol
I'm sure it's reforested or empty
Eeee
Deforestation Martin 😂

Ah! So all you need before you can get married is clothes and wine! Check and check! 😂
Wouldn't that be great if it was that easy?
I have wine and LOTS of clothes.
*Line up, ladieeeees!!!*
This tale was so sweet.
AngelaMerici1hmong
Yes indeed
So in Hungary, Jealousy is yellow. Jealousy is green in England(Othello)and red in East Asia. How interesting.
Jealousy being red makes the most sense because when someone is jealous they do turn a little red
The reason for this is that jealousy said to damage your liver (maybe by drinking out of it) and that makes your yellow
Kay Lee *eny
I had a pen-pal from Germany and I remember him always saying "yellow with envy".
In Czech republic, people turn pale with envy.
low key worried at 3:25. I thought he'll accidentally chop the frog in half. lol
Same here
Alternate ending
OMG PFFFT-
Its always the blonde lol
Raisa Alexis Remacha
Brunette should have happy endings too!
What's your problem?
Spoiler
hahaha u jelly?
You forgot something else. It's always the youngest son (or the only son) in the family who gets the best (just like blonde women in these stories).
I heard that the reason was something like blonde women were uncommon/rare amidst them at that time and hence they always portray them in stories often. The eldest son in the families take after their parents' business/wealth, this order of "most to eldest and lesser to younger ones" left the youngest sons in families to struggle harder than the older ones. Hence they portray them as having happiest ending in stories.
I love the boingy music for the frog. Also, the frog is adorable!
That's right. :)
glowworm2 Yes even more adorable than princess
the instrument used is called doromb, if you just write it into youtube you should be able to find more boingy music
Martins brothers making fun of him and joking isnt bullying it is normal sibling thing
The Princess said that all of her household, not just her, was cursed. All of the other frogs were her family/servent members, and the forest originally was her house.
It was adorable when he didn’t want to burn the frog. It showed he cared. They truly did fall in love instead of just rushing things
This is such an upgrade from the frog prince. This is the story we should've been told as children in America.
I live in America and heard this story first. But I have no idea where I heard it 😂
This one of my favorite, I like how it says Martin found “found his frog” showing he already had affection for them without knowing it was a princess.
Everyone is talking about everything except the learning we get from this story. As an example, his job being the "worst paid" between his brothers, and the way his life took may be seen as not having much luck in life or directly not taking the best decision. But in the end, even with all the "mistakes" he made. Things turned out right, just the way they should have. Leaving us with the thought that no matter how "wrong" the decisions we took may seem like. Life can always get better.
Or rather that even the most humble of jobs can lead to success.
im crying 😂 i love how dad just clapped and the kid grew up

Finally, a protagonist who isn't named John.
John in Hungarian is spelled János (Yanosh). A Hungarian researcher Pap Gábor, say that the reason why the majority of the Hungarian folktale heroes are called János, is because this name is spelled like lányos (lanyosh) meaning girlie. So the Hungarian folktale heroes usually unite male and female features. But in the end they become men, but marry with a woman, so they reunite with their female side.
Retép Csávok I applaud and thank you for taking the time to explain the biggest useless and random question in my head
I really liked this one, for once the marriage felt earned, and they were both fleshed out characters that respected one another.
Deforestation
In a world like that, they probably just ask the wood to grow back into a forest and it would be happy to.
I can't stop watching. Send hElP

Sweet that he became friends with the frog. He did not want to set the wood on fire with the frog on it. Then had a fitful sleep when he did. Good Story👏👏👏
If the employer was Kermit, it would be both hilarious and easy to be with someone who is green.
I’ve heard a Scottish version of this tale. It is a tale about a Princess who was cursed by a Druid and her skin and hair became green as grass. And an Irish version with no Happy End. About selkies… There is a cartoon based on the Irish version

Moral of the story a job is a job be happy your employed
No,....
I think this gives two perspective of life. For men, be hardworking and honest. For women, find a man who'll work hard and tend to your simplest needs.
P.S having a man who respects and loves you that he takes care of you so earnestly (which is what I as a female want) and wanting to live as his wife in his care and being forced to be sheltered because you have no way to be self-sustainable and independent is COMPLETELY different. I am VERY against the latter, and if that gets me called a feminist fine I am a feminist. However, I don't use that term because it's been "tarnished" but the neo-feminists with their anger and hatred, so maybe that's why there's only 10% of "feminists" out there. But if you dig in and learn about the still existing unfairness towards females all over the globe you would get angry if you have the decency to feel and think.
Women had it easy than guys. ; 3 ;
In those times baby making was risky. Especially the first one.
Yep, Too bad women decided to rebel against this system and wanted to work, so now everyone, man or woman only gets 50% of the paycheck since it's calculated in a way that 2 people work in every family, companies get 2 person for the price of one.
Also there are some women who don't wish to go to work and would like to stay at home and tend to the house, but since the husband will only get the 50% of money for his job (the company won't care only one of them has a job) it's a lot harder to have a decent life from only 1 paycheck now!
Zorander Istvan yeah, silly women and their equal rights. How dare they?
@ @@captivecat5858 It's not about rights, it's about feminist ignorance, since about only 10% of women are feminists, they wanted to get jobs to be independent of men, which is fine by me, but they did not care that their fellow women the 90% did not wanted to work since they were happy the way things were!
Feminists hate men, Women love men.
That is the only difference between them, it was never about rights or anything, it's about hatered.
More than 80% of women I have met throught my life wished if they could stay at home and doesn't have to go to work!
Most of them got pregnant and got multiple kids for this reason so the government will recognise them as "full time mom" and let them stay at home!
Feminists only care about themselves nobody else matters to them let it be men or other women who loves men!
The fact that they had to work a full year to afford new clothes, I felt that.
I can agree with you there
I was amazed that the bottle could fill more than one barrel.
It's magic.
This is like Jesus’ levels of wine magic, mate xD
@@micanikko In the case of Our Lord Jesus, it is not so much magic as He is the One who made and gives everything being, so He can make anything into anything else and ignore pesky things like physics. Here it is magic though.

4:40 i swear i thought he was gonna marry the frog for a second

The frog is a real one lowkey
I like that the cursed person didn't trick or force the other in this one, Martin was given an offer and accepted it willingly without the frog crying and begging 🙂 (unlike the cat I just saw, who wouldn't let the prince leave until he agreed to marry her)
It’s so cute whenever he holds the frog lol
Hola espero que se encuentre muy bien me gustó mucho la historia pero me gustaría q esto fuera doblado al español para américa latina
I thought for sure the frog was gona say now go down to the cellar and choose your favorite wife XD
The art is so beautiful in these stories
im 22 and i watch these folk tales on marathon lol
Moral of the story: Be faithful to those who are grateful to you and reward you for your efforts, for they will continue to do so. Disregard what you "should be doing" and value what you have.
This was so much more wholesome than I was expecting.
First tale where the brown haired siblings don't chop up the blonde one in envy and use the pieces in some random houseware, like talking doormat or something.
It is clear to me that the frog was a powerful extra-terrestrial capable of controlling both matter and energy at will. Just look at the alien head symbol on his land. 1:51
Life should be as this Hungarian folk tales 🤣😂 at least no one freaks out about talking animals 😂🤭
Excellent animation and visuals! I don't know how authentic the style is to Hungarian style but the visual of the frog's clearing slowly being deforested was very well designed.
I can tell without watching that the princess is blonde
Fairy tale blondes = MVP
kinda like nowadays you can tell every movie remake is protagonised by a race-swapped character
There are a few stories where the princess aint
This is so cute I love it!
How come tat in all Hungarian tales d one who gets d beautiful maiden is always d youngest one of all🤔🤔🤔😂
Typically being the youngest means the least experienced and least likely to succeed. Though its a common trope that the youngest aspires the highest.
And also the blonde
This is the premise of Howel's Moving Castle.
None of your business.
Well actually this happens in a lot of fairy tales not just Hungarian fairy tales.
legit can't stop watching these. Must be some kind of arcane Hungarian magic.
I like the stories too
He stacked piles of wood for years? Couldn't he just kiss her like the "Princess and the Frog" and get it over with?
Wouldn't break the spell, apparently they all needed to burn in this one.
No, because Hungarian curses are always really complicated, and you can never just tell people "hey, I've been cursed, here's how to free me"
That's so cliche. Didn't you see the brother's clothes? They have swag
Bc "Princess Frog" is boring. BRING ON THE FIIIIIIRRRRE 🔥
She mentioned her "households"
Meaning those frogs that the guy has to sweep r all people
She cannot leave those lol
If you are the youngest brother, you Can be the king of Hungary
When Martin turns around at the end, he should have winked!
No
You’d think she’d tell Martin she’s a cursed princess the moment she met him
Most magic curse require it to be a secret to be undone because the person has to be pure of heart and not do it for profit.
I see many people in the comment sections saying they're getting addicted to these folk tales...
Hungary: My goals are beyond your understanding
Good story! Been watching a lot of these stories. Kinda hooked on them.
That frog is so cute
Especially in her little bed
Moral of the story, work for a frog.
I love how the frog stretches his arms out to be lifted up lol

Martin is so obedient to the frog
And they lived happily ever after. I wish I could find also someone in my life.
You need to find a bossy, talking amphibian.

*frog:* take me to the top of this log tower, set it on fire, and murder all the frogs that come toward me.
*martin:* weird request but ok
How can they rest at a time like this?!? Someone is out there throwing curses like its birthday confetti!
So basically dont be picky about what is being offerred to you. This one is actually not as dark and menacing as others and its warm hearted. Good story
At first I thought the frog was male
Im hungarian yay
wow! a frog paying for deforestation!
but hey, its the first tale with two jealous brothers who do not try to kill nor steal from the third one! they were good brothers after all so it makes sense that he was too and gave them money
Handsome and the beast?
These Hungarian curses are super specific...
'yellow' with envy??
I guess it's just a mistranslation or a cultural difference.
It is green
The reason for this is that jealousy said to damage your liver (maybe by drinking out of it) and that makes your yellow in Hungarian folklore
Everyone's not the same...in English envy may be green but when you're envious, the blood can drain from your face with dismay (greenish-yellow pallor) or rush into your face with anger (red). Then there's the natural skin tone to think about.
No cultural flexibility in the 🌎 any more
@@Loki-qo2kb Who says this?
For the first time in history, the middle child in the folklore stories wasn't a total loser.
>tfw no nice Hungarian man to tuck you in at night.
Feels bad man.
I thought martin would kiss the frog😂
2:42: Don't you mean Green with Envy!
No. In Hungary it is yellow. Like if you are jelous and drink alcohol to get rid of ur fustration, it will ruin ur liver (on a long term) and it will result in yellowish skin.
Beautiful explanation
Why am I watching this at 1 am I HAVE A TEST TOMMOROW FOR GOD’S SAKE
At least Martin has the best nose of them all.
