Today on the Skid factory, Woody & Al fix one of the most common failures on the Mitsubishi Pajero. The location of the factory Intercooler makes it susceptible to damage when off-roading causing it to leak and worst case turning it into a drinking straw damaging the otherwise bullet-proof 4M41 Engine.
Upgrading the intercooler size and mounting it higher is a common upgrade providing cooler intake temperatures and keeps it out of harms way.
It's then off to see Matt at Just Autos for a Dyno Tune to extract more power and torque.

Does anybody click these Ebay links? bit.ly/2UTL4K7
yep just did .
Yep, but secretly I was hoping it was a link to the RUclips editing awards to nominate this one
The lotto has been winning the lotto for 50 years.
Clicked and ordered. I've got the same model Pajero, been planning this mod for a while. Time to get it done.
Damn! A Supra Mustang RX7! How many unicorns does that make?
The grill on the Pajero with Rich's mouth on it saying, "but I want a bus engine"....
🤣🤣 love deboss and his dry sense of humor
That intro makes me laugh every time!
Clunky diff, this might sound silly, but take the rear passenger side wheel off, pop the dust cap, and tension the axle nut right back up.
Pretty common for Pajeros since the 2000 NM for that side nut to back off over time and cause a clunk coming one-off the throttle
Thanks bro!
He’s dead right 👍🏻
Very common issue with 2000 on Pajero
Left loose rear nut
put in some thuban oil!
Yeh tighten the hub nuts, stopped the clunk on my NW Manual
Also worth sliding the axle out a bit and greasing the splines - fixed the clunk on my nw
Turbo Yodas blow off valve went off at 1psi and now there's a "Check Undies" light on the dash...
hahahah! that's gold!
Got a "just pissed my pants" notice after reading this comment. 👌
What?
@@theskidfactory He dropped his guts at 1psi and got the "check undies light" come on.
Living up to the name skid factory
If Hoff won't do the looped cuts without Wendy, someone has to
Hahahah yesss
I got my cap and air fresheners from you guys this week, its the best thing here in Norway at this moment :)
Ok o
That’s awesome.
212ho and 550nm!!
Marketplace is about to run out of Pajero’s.
As a Pajero owner i enjoyed this series a lot!🤙thanks for some knowledge 👌
agreed
What a weapon! I never would have thought you'd get that much out of it.
Yeah I have an NS...looks like Ill be booking in a tune very soon! Im blown away with those figures.
My 2010 3.2 have 200hp from factory with dpf. Going too a tuner soon to get 240-250hp :)
@@ronaldov09 Bear in mind a tuned NS will make about as much as stock NT so don't be expecting too much
@@dodgeviper89 Similar power maybe, but a fair bit more torque and a better curve which is more important

Here's a welding tip for you, I'm a welder fitter by trade. If you want nicer welds, what helps is to try to flip whatever your welding on to a horizontal plain, from that position your welds can be more controlled. Its a basic principal to practice in the trade to help acquire nice welds. Welding is all about controlling your puddle and gravity gets in the way often so welding on the horizontal is a basic concept to keep in mind when your welding, to control your puddle. That is if you care about the appearance of your welds. If you apply this to whatever your welding you'll see your welds improve bigtime. Btw nice dogs you got there! I just love the look of that Nisan Patrol Diesel, the Holy Grail of four by fours.
Love the style of this channel. You legends are the best.
Thats was a great win all round, glad the Paj is up and going, got some good numbers there from the tune, I am defiantly going to chase these guys up for my tune.
I love hard work. I could watch it all day.
Very nice starting point. Y'all are going to have so much fun!
Alan is 100% right about drivability. The torque curve looks great on that thing.
Great episiode as always! Thanks TSF!
That tubing montage is great, Woody!
Great ep boys.
Affordable car, affordable mod and doable mod any hand lad can do at home. Good performance figure too!
Good result Woody, well done👍
Area under the graph improvement like that on an already tuned engine is awesome
Most underestimated engine the 3.2. Nice work lads with bigger intercooler.Good numbers from the work.
Love this project and you guys keep up the good work
Well done guys. Great result
Great to see attention to audio recording on your vlogs, makes for much better watching
Thanks guys, I love the pajero series
Nice to see someone doing not nissan or toyota. Keep up the great work!
“Plenty of room for a bigger cooler”
Cue the saws
Another great video! Thanks for being awesome
I heard it was thx Al...I wasn't sure whether it would handle all that torque cheers for the info and keep up the informative commentary
Keen to see you do some driving in that thing, love the vids 👌
Turbo v8's, gen 4 pajero and talks of a porsche, this channel so relates to my life haha
Unfortunately its a soccer mums porsche
@@boxheadmr doh....
Sweet! Please fit a snorkel too Woody for that bit of protection if the Paj goes swimming.
Love my 03 pajero 3.2, just a daily and tow vehicle. Nice video mate thanks .
Awesome work as always lads 👌
Im loving this series!!!
Looks great! Enjoy the Pajero!
Love the Ridge backs!!! Beautiful dogs
Always love Al’s reality checks like at 21:30 “for people who like to have other things like food”😂. Thanks lads wifeys car is Pajero so was good to see some related content am a big fan of the Patrol wheels on it.
They said a ad or skid factory logo and I got both what a treat cheers fellas👍😂
Love the lemon squash there, mate
I just bought a pajero mini (my dream car) I will plan to lift that bad boy high, change out the suspensions, new cooling system, new intake and exhaust manifold (custom made) and replace, rewire, mostly everything. there is an odd satisfaction knowing that you personally customize a car to your own design. i think I will document it.
I love the references to nugget garage the banter is on point
Loving the Paj content, motivation to upgrade to a diesel model 👌
23:16 🤣 best outtakes.... 🤣
Can't thank you enough Al' & Woody for the entertainment & information you give during lockdowns and political BS. I don't think I've missed one episode so keep em' coming.
Love the show ,finally a Mitsubishi mk3 💪🏽😎
❤️
Loving the content, good work tackling the welding and fab work Woody.
Also, ever thought about doing a TSF vs Nugget Garage type crossover episode / series of challenges?
Loving the pajero build
Drag race between Pajero and Patrol is a must!
Go the mighty Pajero
Nice result! Can't wait for the camping videos, everyone eating beans from a tin...
Broke back style...?
hahahahaha!
@@craigdavies8099 blazing saddles style?
@@williamhardes8081 Ha ha that's a whole different Genre!
The episode all Pajero wanted 🥳🥳🥳
Great loop shot
looking good boys!
Good job Woody. Looks good.
Some tnuc tried to flog my SF sticker lol 😆
Thanks for reminding me Al.
Loving the paj videos
Glad to hear the roll of the dice came up in your favour Woodie. Got grunt now
Next time I come home (Cooroy), would love to try and catch up with you guys. Black on black Paj power!
very clean pipe work
23:16 Damn ducks in the background 🦆
Looks like an intercooler upgrade and a tune are on the cards for my paj!
You won't regret it 👌
These 4WD drive mods, has inspired me to twin turbo my VZJ Prado
Great video, Al's patrol still looks sick
That's a bloody good torque curve.
Thank you for your insitghts and video 🙂❤👍
Makes me miss our Rhodesian. Such good doggos. We'll have another some day
Thanks for another great video Al & Woody I’m sad to see that the Mitsubishi has turned you to drink, haha
The pan is Choochin again well done
Beautiful Ridge backs
Awesome increase, even given the previous tune (don't let all the gen4 cats outta the bag tho!). If you were still on the stock IC you would been baking a cake on it, they're so crap 🔥. FMIC upgrade is a no brainer 👍🍻
Oh and anyone in nsw going the eBay route, ive got a box of left over bends from my install for ya (enough to do another) PM if interested 👍
Stuck in Laos and so enjoying the Humor (the loops) 🤣🤣🤣🍺
Impressive numbers.
Hi Woody and Al, loving the 4x4 content, would you be able to do a dual battery set up on the Paj and show us all the best “industry standard” of installing one? Cheers 👍🏻
Next weeks episode is all over it mate!
The Paj is like a little brother, late to the game learned from the best at the end out does his brothers.
Dang! That's a lot of torque!
you guys should do a road trip to Carnarvon National Park or similar with those tow-boats !
Looks like a good bang for buck fourby - if nothing had gone wrong! But then there's be less to watch and learn!
Whoever does your music is a legend
“Plenty of room for a bigger cooler”
Cue the saws
Masterclass 👍
That’s decent power there Woody. Not sure if 4m41 can handle 40psi but I can say it will handle 29-30 all day every day.
You’re guna need a bigger turbo but be careful with lag especially with manual. I have a Kinugawa billet 56mm 15T extended tips TF035/TD04 flat back compressor wheel that was mistakenly sent you can have. Just let me know if you want it and I will send it from here in nz. I’m running a Kinugawa 15T hybrid with upgrade billet wheel but I think you can make an upgrade from a TD04 just not sure about vane ones.
Love the content
The fart at the end hahaha classy Allen lol
I hung around for the end... and it was a fart
You can see it loading around the 23:00 mark
Can't thank you enough Al' & Woody for the entertainment & information you give during lockdowns and political BS. I don't think I've missed one episode so keep em' coming.
Good to see Woody lay down his skills
Bigger intercooler for my triton is definitely on the cards after watching this.
Have the same intercooler on mine but finding inlet temps are always 2-3x ambient temp. Even when ambient is between 1-5 degrees, OBD gauge is saying 20 - 30+ inlet. Is that normal for a turbo car or turbo diesel?
Love the content, love seeing someone give the Pajero a bit of the spotlight it deserves!
For a second there I thought it was a 4m40 and thought "oh boy it's gonna blow" hahaha
Must've missed the 2010 part!
1:01
I was waiting for a now tradicional "In the bin!!!"
Nice job on the Pajero. But, wow, is there a Porsche coming on Skid Factory? That would be fun!
Winning for Woody 😍 Didn't take all that much effort to get to this point though now did it? 😂
Well....
Those metal pieces in the intercooler will go thrue the turbo, on the exhaust side on the way out of your engine ☝😁
Cheers from Northern Sweden 🍻
Director Woody "come get a close up Alan"
Glad to see that Al is sticking to the lemon squash...
Sprung Al. Been scrolling the comments to see if I was the only one.
Love the looped Alan skit, Hoff ain't playing anymore :(
@23:16 that's a proper statement!
Well done at the end Al. LOL
The student has become the teacher!.
Nambour looks great in the rear vision mirror
My challenger in Brazil has the same motor (here all challengers - Pajero Dakar -, Triton and Pajero Full has 4M41) and we make some little tunes… we can get to 270cv and about 60kgfm… I need to dyno test my again after upgrading my intercooler and pipes as you did, but I’m preatty sure mine is about 250cv and 50-55kgfm.
I'd love this build to be a more budget (tight ass) build to the Cummins Patrol. To show the people you don't need to spend mega dollars on something for good off roading, and can choose a more out side the box vehicle to do so.
Drinking straw = poor man's Prado
Good series guys 👍
