Thank you for your video. I agree with you. I have a single dosing grinder available too but a good hopper based grinder will usually be consistent enough.. especially for milk based drinks you will be totally fine.
Im doing 18g of beans. I did dial it down to 10 before I saw your post and I was getting some ok crema from it but was getting about 38 back from the machine in about 21 secs. I know it’s a little fast but it tasted good and didn’t have any milk so made an americano like I saw in the video. Was very tasty.
Happy New Year Hoon! Glad to hear you're back to using the hopper again. I think that's what works best for me. I like espresso in the morning. I am hooked on Good Brothers Neopolitan Blend. It makes a nice espresso drink in short order in the morning!
I own a breville barista pro since a month now. My first espresso machine. Also I do single dose now since I also like to drink decaf in the evening and it allows me to use a different bean.
I am a first timer and own a Barista pro.Excellent video’s and love the way you keep things simple. Currently on external 16 internal 6 and nearly dialled in with drinkable shots, using mainly taste. But still need to go a little finer.
I use the hopper for daily espresso and espresso-based drinks, usually medium-roast coffee beans. It is also my go-to if I expect guests over a few days, making the workflow faster.
I pull espresso form my robot, 17/40. My wife likes her cappuccino and i just make an americano for me. This totally works and no posing for daily coffee. Other things more important in the household. But when I want to get serious, all the fancy stuff and high dollar stuff is available to me when I want to treat myself. Happy New Year Hoon
I started with a combination expresso machine with a built in grinder. The grinder was problematic in that it clogged on a semi-daily basis, and even after thoroughly cleaning it under the burr. Nothing to do with single dose hopper but even dedicated single dose grinders typically hold enough beans to make several cups of espresso or enough for a 6-8 cup drip.
I single dose a Barista Vario with the hopper. I’ve had it a while and this was before single dose grinders. In the camper I single dose a Kinu M47. Beans are kept in an airscape until used. I’m the only coffee drinker in my house. If there were more drinkers I see the utility of the hopper.
We have settled on hybrid setup, with a Jura Super automatic that is set up one touch for my wife, as she drinks 4 or 5 cups a day and adds cream or milk. I bought the Jura 8 years ago and have kept it running with some diy maintenance over that period. But I always wanted a “real” espresso machine that had proper boilers and PID controlled temp. So I took the plunge on the Breville Dual boiler and Niche Zero grinder and been loving playing with that setup. Of course we also have a French press, an Aeropress (for travel mostly) and a Breville Precision brewer for filter style. I guess we love coffee!
Regarding his comment on decaf, I recently started going half decaf, half full test and found some very good Sugarcane process Colombian decaf from several roasters. Finca Las Nubes from Sagebrush Coffee being a very good one
@@HoonsCoffee lol I have to clean up the mess a bit before I can take a pic. Also we just retired the trusty Jura super-auto and got a Kitchenaid KF7 Super-Auto that is pretty sweet. So far the wife loves it and I’m grabbing a few drinks from it myself. Will take some pics and post
For someone like me who has 14 different types of coffee in the freezer and chooses one of them each time to make the best espresso possible, single doses are the only option I have
Happy new year. I just got the barrister pro for Christmas and still trying to dial it in. My inner burr setting is 4 and grind setting is 11. It tastes good but I’m not getting the crema like you get. It’s more just the coffee. Do you know what your inner burr setting is by chance? Just found your channel this week and loving it.
How many grams are you dosing? Are you tamping solid? Mine is set to 4 on the inside and the only thing i change is the outer based on beans. If you arent getting crema, dial to 10 or increase the dose.
We do have the Pro at the office. Compare with the 064S and for dark blend like the GB one, I prefer the grinder of the Pro for convenience. No much difference with the 064S and the 064S is very difficult to dial correctly. For dark-medium or medium, then the Pro grinder is not working well in my opinion. At the office, we do have an A68 for those coffees. Still early to say if we will like it or not. So far better than the 064S, the DF83 and the DF64v by far. (We didn't test the DF83v or the DF64). The other one that it is better for medium and medium-dark with hopper is the LX Italia 65 (a high end version of the Eureka Mignon). Also J Ultra is super good but a work out, so no an option for us at the office. At home, regarding manuals, J Ultra and ZP6 are a good combination for espresso and our over respectively. Still trying to find the final electric grinder for home. Testing and checking EK43S, P64, Orbit, MC6, Option O1 and Key II.
Wow... an honest view on just "making a coffee" on an average day! :-). I make americanos 99% of the time. If there's an espresso machine that's really good at "just that", I'd love to know which one. They all seem to be better at milk based drinks, but not great at making a shot and dispensing hot water.
@@freezingsunbreaka Puristika is really tempting, but is still missing water dispensing (I suppose it would be possible to pull hot water through the group, but that's not a very nice solution). There are a lot of machines that can do an americano one way or another - it just doesn't seem like there are machines designed intentionally for that purpose.
@ethanhofer yeah I know, but any specific reason you need the water to be dispensed from the machine? Because you will probably have an eletric kettley aside the flair, so the americanos are very straightforward

We coffee hobbyists like to make things more complicated than they are.

Thanks Donny!
Seems like the meraki would be much better for your use case here of easy of use and consistency. How do you think the grinder compares?
😊 Loved the appearance by your beautiful cat! Thank you for your videos.
Glad you enjoyed the video.

Your setting at 15 you must have inner moved down? Eh
Maybe 10 or 9 should be fine
do you froth soymilk? or coconut milk??? i dont do dairy. please help. tks
You use Oat milk
Oat milk is pretty popular among non-dairy coffee drinkers, but you can froth with any type of milk.

ECM Puristika
@@8rafasimas Flair 58 doesn't dispense water :-). I know I'm asking for a very specific machine style here.

Happy New Year Everyone 🎉
15 second 48 gram shot your grinder might be set to high? Finer guide Eh
Yes it is. I need to go much finer for sure
Happy new year
Happy New Year to you too!
Hopper instead of single dose?! You just broke the brains of like 2656 people out there :)
Id like to have an expensive grind by weight
It is very nice to have
🎉🎉 HNY🎉🎉
Still prefer single dose method.
It is much easier to dial in for sure
