Watch Michael Zaki nerf Ansbach's bow from being too overpowered to completely useless, like with all the other bows.
it does need a nerf though. just a lil bit to be around the same level as other weapons, while still being dangerous
black bow is pretty usable and ansbach bow is just an upgraded version of it with a built-in shotgun to boot

Except that you need to have the enemy move in a predictable pattern in order for it to work, and you are also taking up so many talisman slots that there's no room for the otherwise obligatory Erdtree's Favor.
I'm more of a Great Bow guy but besides Radahns and Golem I don't think there are any good

@@RisingUpMen No it is not. I don't use it (in pvp). It's the game mechanics and not cheating. You just hate how you can lose over 'skill-less' casual players with it. People will complain over things they feel helpless. But when they managed to overcome it, they will brag about it like they just won a Nobel prize.

pretty sure the bow ash of war isn't bugged, as you shouldn't be able to hit a target with more than 1 arrow, even at point blank. So the damage it does is intentional and it's just that strong.

That's odd though, because you absolutely *can* hit with more than one bolt with the spread crossbow, and there's multiple other items and spells that also have shotgun mechanics. Bestial sling, fan daggers, flame, fall upon them, etc
@@KogasaTatara514the spread crossbow only gits with three bolts just like the pulley crossbow, buts in such a small concentrated are that those three bolts all hit at the exact time
I like to have the sharpshot talisman, because of the 12% increase over the 8% increase of the soaring sting talisman.
The neat trick with it is that as long as you enter aiming mode before the arrow hits, it will proc the damage boost
So you don’t need to be aiming when you shoot

@@AskariStudios I haven’t captured any gameplay to show it, but if you try, you should notice quite quickly.
I honestly don’t find it that jarring, although it does take that small additional input if you want to use it against a boss, but it allows to use things like Rain of Arrows with the bonus from the Sharpshot talisman ( if you shoot them while aiming, they fall on your location )
@@LeSpicey interesting, do you mainly use it with AoWs or with normal lock on bow gameplay? And I assume this is all in pve.
@@AskariStudios I do both. I didn’t notice any delay restriction for the aiming during or after shooting, so it can be used any way you want pretty much.

Is it bugged? NOOOO!, I finally thought they would make a war ash that does damage to a bow, it's so easy to dodge that.

Honestly, it doesn't even seem that overpowered. It got you killed a lot. Compared to some of the stuff I've seen you and others do with spells, this seems pretty tame.
Also, I don't think it's actually bugged, it looks like the damage is just capped out at 2 arrows (because you seemed to do half damage when you genuinely just hit with 1 arrow), so hitting with more than 2 arrows doesn't increase the damage any further. I can think of a few spells that could use a similar limitation (such as Impenetrable Thorns)
People keep saying it does the damage of all 8 arrows but are we sure that's actually true? Maybe it just has face meltingly high MV's
I heard that up to three arrows are allowed to hit a target, but I'm not really sure how to test that myself
Ive tested it a little on malenia and from what i see it does the same damage no matter how many arrows hit
I think it's intentional that you get hit with full dmg on one arrow from the ash of war. Seeing thay if each arrow hit, it would be significantly lesser dmg, and people would probably see it as unviable for pvp. Because if one arrow hitting off the skill does only 300 dmg with items, it would seem useless unless you hit 3 or more arrows to some. I think the only sort of rebalancing it needs is reducing status build-up on arrows with status effects. Though idk how fast it builds, so there's that

Alot if diffrent multuhit spells make it so you can only hit a maximum amount of the projectiles
So ansbachs bow might just be a large arc of a hit box

It's INSANE how many people run rivers of blood still. like everyone and all their phantoms will just have the same weapon... and it never ever works...

Yeah, it's useless now. At least in PvP. It might still have a use in PvE, but there are far more interesting and effective ways to bleed enemies.
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem funny enough, that last Divine Beast warrior gets deleted when I river's 'em. Was trying to farm his gear and he would always jump up into his roar thingy to change to frost and by the time he landed, no more beasty.
@Kemuell_Mabuen I'm pretty sure the entire ash attack chain has the damage and bleed build up of about 4 light attacks, so it shouldn't be doing much. What were your stats, shadow blessing, and NG level?

What I can say for sure was, I was using alexander shard, silver bug talisman, rotten wing and milicent prosthesis talismans.
No other buffs like flame grant me str other than a silver bug for more item discovery. My arcane was either 50 or 60.
4 light attacks is no wear near the build up of rivers unless you're only hitting with the blood part and not with the blade, even so, the raw dmg it was doing was enough to take it down if I had to use it two times (that being while it was landing).
Oh, and I used Assassin's gambit to get close enough to start attacking before he went up into the air.
Almost possitive I wasn't at 20 blessings yet (I found the rest WAY after). Maybe I was 18 or so.

Bows finally getting some love
So for people that want a more practical version of this build from somebody that uses this in Invading A LOT!
Use regular arrows and bleed arrows, use the full set of Raksasha along with bloodsucking tear and opaline hardtear. Use crabs to have decent defenses.
Use the Spear Talisman instead of the Divine Beast talisman.
60 vig, 10 mind, 20 end, 60 str 60 dex. If you're higher level, go 80 str 80 dex.
You can use Ansbach's Longbow, Bone Bow, and Reverse Blades and still medium roll at 20 end.
looks like this build survived the 1.13 patch, cause the nerf on bows was certain ones reduce status buildup. While this affects ansbach's bow it looks like, the ash of war's 1 arrow = all arrows gimiick still applies.

I’d probably swap out the first talisman for kindred of rot exultation and rock an offhand poison fist, use the poison perfume to buff. Just to be extra sweaty.

Man. This is a real sleeper hit of a build. On top of the damage, and utility of the various storm ashes of war. The drip is phenomenal. Real oni warrior lookin

LOST, I think I’ve made a discovery, if you use a jumping attack with a singular two handed milady, it combos into barbaric roar heavy attack chain really well. (May work with a running heavy as well, in place of the jumping heavy). Anyways, fantastic for bleed builds as it is a 7 hit combo if you finish the barbaric roar chain. ❤
After a bit more testing it’s better for one on one scenarios lol 😢

I subscribed purely based on the fact that you even let yourself die once on camera. I appreciate invaders that allow themselves to be killed on camera. I live a double life because I invade people and I also help people, but I can definitely say that you know when you're in an invasion, the odds are against you no matter what generally speaking. There's a higher chance that they are a higher level than you, it's always more people and you are usually the only person on that side and yeah, so sometimes you die and you don't win. Some Joker on RUclips told me the other day that an 80% success rate with invasions was dog shit. Well I guess what they said affected me a little bit because I'm talking about it now but you know obviously what he said his dog shit as well. Winning four out of five invasions to me is really good. That means four out of five times you are overcoming the odds And sometimes those odds are incredible. Yes of course you need to use different techniques and I'm not even talking about people that you catch in the middle of bosses or whatever because you do encounter easy situations on rare occasions but normally you're outnumbered and you have to overcome. But that's also why it's so attractive to me because I've overcome so much in my life I don't know. I think I like I like that being a game as well, I think maybe I like that because I feel in real life like part of me think I can just put it in the in the waist, which is true to some extent, anyway I'm gonna stop rambling. I respect that you are showing us invasions that you did not win, nobody wins all the time, I would guess that the best person out there wins nine out of 10 times at but that's just my take. Thanks again, your video is brilliant, and even though that sword was slightly nerved I still think it's good some people say it's like the worst sword in the game now, but I still like it. I still think it's good and effective as a fire sword soooooo
You should try a poison Sword Lance with The Poison Flower Blooms Twice. It builds status in 2-3 hits, and the aow is a perfect finisher to punish people who try to make distance and heal after being poisoned. I've been getting amazing results so far.

Hot take, but barring when combined with sleep arrows, anbasch’s bow is not that bad. I faced a few invaders with it, and while the first one ate all my healing, I did live. The next couple times it didn’t even eat that many heals. Both it and the bone bow are weapons I would have loved in Dark Souls 3, and next to all the other cheese in the game? I feel like rather than nerfing damage for ansbach, they should just nerf status build up and raise the fp cost to make it less spamable.
Bone bow I actually don’t think needs any nerfs… though I would totally be okay with a nerf to status build up on it as well? Tracking sleep I get being annoying, but in a 1v1 situation, the bone bow is funny, but not amazing, and with ganks it’ll stay powerful unless they make it useless. I would rather keep it as is so I can have fun protecting my friends who like to step back and watch when invaders pop in. Whipping it out to heal punish feels amazing.
this ash also has the bug that if you use arrows that apply any status the build up applied when you get hit is the build of all eight arrows as well as with damage

You can also fire arrows fast while sprinting, and after landing from a jump shot
I don't think its bugged and its pretty easy to dodge uses a lot of ammo too. if the developers say its a bug though mega sad days.
Instead of Zamor sword, I use Iron Greatsword and Warhawk Talon with Stormcaller and Storm Blade. Other than that, you have the same idea as me. I freaking love that build!

I am going to assume this will get patched since it seems to rely on a bug but enjoy while it's enjoyable.
I've overall been really dissapointed since my main build was Dragon Communion and... it's just not really that good in the DLC because of how aggressive everything is and the low poise of communion spells (outside Claw/Bite/Roar/Bayle) everything can be 1hr1'd out of I feel.
I wanted jar bairn to be in the dlc so bad and give us an even better jar shard after we complete his questline
I get the ash does a ton of damage but if you’re getting hit by it, you’re just bad. Plus you need like 2-3 talisman slots and run out of arrows after 20 ash shots so really just leave it. It’s fun to have a good bow in the game.

i put literally 2 talismans and I started doing like 900 damage. Thats when I knew that this bow is broken af
I never got into invading because I thought I would get dunked on by ganks, but seeing all these hosts and phantoms acting clueless in a fight because they've been carried by a cheese build or by their L2 button the entire game, somehow gives me hope.
the moment bpws get a super strong option for an ash of war people think its bugged XD. people have been bitching for years how mid bows are it needed this
You can use Sword of Night AOW to counter shield players, the attack goes through it
I do NOT think the ash of war is bugged. I think that sometimes more arrows hit someone than you think. But I might be wrong of course
I don't mind if they nerf this, on the condition that they buff arrow capacity.
Running out of arrows is the #1 reason why bows kinda suck.

at this point i am convinced that this bow is not bugged everybody thinks
like yes all other bows do like 100-200 damage per arrow and not 500-700 like the aow on ansbachs bow but i think thar damage should apply to one arrow amd the damage of all arrows combined is bugged and needs to be raised
bows were weak all the time and now they have a chance of redeeming themselves
it takes 8 arrows so it eats away very quickly and is limited so it cant be spammed all the time
it eats all your arrow, but if you land 1 shot, it counts as all the arrows hitting, imo i think thats a fair trade cause its so easy to doge the arrows... maybe the status effect should be tone down in pvp because even in a doge they still hit.

Lost please do a barbed staff spear build!!! Or at least look into it l. It's also got a bug NO ONE is talking about. Now it's not the best weapon but the AOW is special. The spear it self has bleed. Bit the AOW "joris inqusition" fires out a bunch of golden arcs. AND THEY GET BLEED BUILD UP!

For a guy called Let Me Tank Him he sure wasn't very tanky in PVP and PVE he summoned me to help him against a boss multiple times kept getting one or 2 shotted.

seeing it getting shut down so consistently in all the invasion videos I've seen, why the fuck did anyone ever say it needed a nerf? I'm not seeing any 1 shots, hell most of the time it isn't even 2 shotting. If you get hit 3 times by something this easy to dodge you've earned your darwin award. Leave bows alone.
Its so sad how Fromsoft butchered Blue Phantoms. Wish they introduced Purples back that could pop up from the same talisman as blues to betray hosts.
