You made this look so easy and your positive encouragement make me believe I can actually do it even though I am brand new to making tumblers. Thank you so much!
Hands down THE BEST technique for a wood grain EVER! Thank you so much! I watched so many different methods and they were so complicated and I kept having to wipe it off and start over. The brown base was KEY to success! I just ROCKED one for a close friend whos wife ordered one for him. I just sent her a video of it and she loves it! I hope her husband loves it too!
I wanted to try this but I was thinking it would be hard for my first tumbler. I watched a few tutorials but This tutorial made me feel more confident. You clearly and simply explained and went ahead and said "no rhyme or reason" .. I really like When the person teaching everyone has the whole "you can do it" attitude. Thank you
Your tutorials are just absolutely amazing! Step by step and so easy to follow. After watching so many of your videos, I now feel like I can do this and not be afraid! Thank you so much.
Thanks so much for doing this wood grain. I have wanted to do one but was afraid I was going to mess it up this looks really easy and I can’t wait to try it.
Also I used a puppy pee pee pad on my table to protect from the spray of the inks. I am sure there are people that have them laying around after potty training. They are so multi purpose!
Omg thank you.. You know everyone makes this look so difficult with so many rules... You gave me courage to just do it and you were right, it was easy!! thank you sooo much!! Muah!!
Have you done a peek a boo with the wood grain? Would you seal it between the light color or just put the removable decal on and then do a darker color over it and remove decal and then seal? Latte definitely turns green!
Question: I did your wood grain technique and did a light coat of epoxy on it. Can I put more woodgrain ink ON the layer of epoxy? I have a couple places that are lighter than the rest of the cup. Wondering, can I do a woodgrain ink on top of the light layer of epoxy? 🤷🏻♀️
Question: if I’m painting a larger/longer object, like another commenter said a rifle stock- How do I handle the long brushstrokes that will certainly run out of ink before I reach the end of the stock?
There is so many ways to do woodgrain I have my own technique of doing the ones I do but I love watching how others do it also and I have always spray paint my cups white but I may change that after watching your video. I do have a question though if the woodgrain is a lighter color and not dark like yours do you think it would still look OK using that spray paint ?
Love your videos!! I have 2 questions. Why do you clear coat this tumbler before you epoxy? Do you clean your brush 🤔 after you brush on the alcholol ink? If so. what do you use to clean it with?
@MissKissKreations - I just did my first wood grain tumbler, and when I sprayed it with the Krylon, it immediately turned all spotted. :( This is acrylic spray that I've had for a bit, so is it just because it's old, or did I maybe spray too closely to the tumbler?
@@MissKissKreations believe it or not, it ended up working out. The more I messed with it, it ended up having a distressed wood look and it's wicked cool! :) I did, however, buy a new can of spray sealer so I don't have that issue again.
What do you put your tumbler on to spray paint ? I spayed my first one today and it ran, etc. I did not put in on the turner because I thought the paint would ruin it. I just put it on a pole outside and sprayed it. Will the run marks be ok when I epoxy and put on the ink?
You can, but I would recommend painting the cup first. Even if it’s with acrylic paint and not spray paint. The inks may not stick to the stainless steel cup, the epoxy will most likely repeal around the tumbler. Having a flat or satin finish helps everything stick.
If you put a picture printed on regular paper with an ink jet printer do you still epoxy or is there an extra step that must be taken before laying it on the cup?
It’s not too much used. If I used 91% alcohol then it will spread in a way I don’t want it to and it won’t have the wood rain effect. It will have a water color brown effect. Which would still look awesome! Just not the look I was going for on this tumbler! 😊
When I sprayed my cup with the same exact spray paint as yours mine came out rough and looked a different shade. I cleaned my cup and it was regular stainless steel. The ink kind of soaked in the paint and it was blah. Do you have any idea why?
TheGoodmanVlogs Make sure before you spray paint your tumbler, your tumbler is prepped! Go back to my videos to see how to prep a tumbler. Also, make sure your spray paint is covered evenly, not too thick of a coat, we just want the tumbler to be coated to have that matte feel, so the paints and epoxy will stick better. Make sure your spray paint is completely dry! 100% dry before you apply anything else to the tumbler. Hope this helps and have fun!
I typically do 3 cups at a time. So it’s hard for me to judge. I mix epoxy in big batches. I’d say 1ML for each 10 ounces on a regular coat. So, for a flood coat, double. Total: 6-10MLs for a flood coat
Kimbo Stutterheim hey there and thank you so much!! You can find me on Facebook. Ms. Kiss Kreations. Please send me a PM to order. :). I have all my sizes and prices listed

Wow! Great technique. I'm going to try painting a synthetic shotgun stock so it looks like laminated wood. Can't wait to try it! Thanks!!
Just watched a guy do this on a rifle and he shouted out your channel nice work keep it up 👍🏼🤠
I love your videos. I appreciate that you don’t edit out mistakes, instead you show us how to fix them. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!

That’s amazing it really does look like wood wow thanks for showing us how I will be making this ❤
I love the colors, thank you for sharing
I would have never thought to use brown spray paint and I have only been using white because all the videos so far shown me white primer.
LOVE how it turned out! Just beginning with inks...your tutorial was FANTASTIC! TYFS!!
Thank you so much!

Love this wood grain! She does amazing work

Latte definitely turns green!
Love this, I’m sure my son would like this wood grain!
I've had inks turn green under sealer but the green goes away when it dries. I love the tip about base painting it tan!
Bethany Hawkins Glad it went away for you. The green hue never went away for me when using Latte. :(
@@MissKissKreations that stinks. Sorry!
I love it!!!
Thank you!
If I use this method to create a wood look on a plastic gun stock can I just use a clear polyurethane spray for the final step vs epoxy? Thank you
Thanks for the great video! How long do you let the spray paint dry before applying the alcohol inks?
holly wow!... awesome, thank you!
Thank you!
Very pretty!!
Jacque Lutz-Daniels Thank you!!
I love your channel I’m new to this and your tutorials are amazing
Naquisha Monmouth Thank you so much !!
Like your video! Thank you for sharing. Can you recommend an affordable epoxy that I can use? Thank you

Yes you can!
I did exactly what you did, down to the colors. I’ve just put the epoxy on and I’m noticing a lot of indents. I’m not really sure how to fix it.
Question: if I’m painting a larger/longer object, like another commenter said a rifle stock-

Add the paint in front of the brush as you are stroking
Can you use precolored tumblers or is there something being freshly painted that aids in final results?
There is so many ways to do woodgrain

I don’t ever clean my brush. I have specific brushes for specific shades. Also alcohol to clean the brush.
I seal before so the epoxy doesn’t fade the alcohol ink
Can you do the wood grain over an epoxy coat that has already been cured.
how much is considered a light coating of expoxy? Ive messed up 2 tumblers already trying to do this ...of course i am VERY new at this
for a 30 ounce, 20MLS
Awesome!
Stunning!
Beautiful

What ideas do you have for this color woodgrain as far as decals? I can't figure mine out!!
what kind of epoxy are you spraying on?

You just epoxy over
Friggin AWESOME!
Beautiful job! Did you sand cup before covering with spray paint?
Melissa Kelley Thank you!! And no. I don’t sand. I only wipe down very well with 91% alcohol
Great job! Question-for that size, how much epoxy do you use for your thin coat and flood coat?
Beautiful cup but Wow that is a lot of alcohol ink used. Have you tried moving the ink around with 91% alcohol? Ink will go a long way when you do
It’s not too much used. If I used 91% alcohol then it will spread in a way I don’t want it to and it won’t have the wood rain effect. It will have a water color brown effect. Which would still look awesome! Just not the look I was going for on this tumbler! 😊
Do you have to spray a sealer in between coats of inks?
How many mls epoxy would you say you do for the thing coat and your flood coat?
Thin sorry
You spray the tumbler instead of pouring on the epoxy and let it turn?
How do you remove paint from the inside towards to the top of your tumbler? I used the spray paint
Here is my video. I hope it helps :)

I needed to spray the cup with a second coat and it turned out great!
What epoxy do you use
How much epoxy do you use for the thick final coat?

I leave my tumbler on my turner arm. I then hold my arm and spray paint the tumbler
