    Bingo and there's the explaination that solves my conudrum, it's not about head position it's about spine position and keeping the spine tilt or angle in place while rotating shoulders around it, so of course the right shoulder will be lower at impact, and as the right arm drives through the gate opened by the clearing hips and lower shoulder it needs to be bent to fit through the gap, if you get spinny or too upright gap reduces. I've watch the pro's do it a thousand times but couldn't quite fathom the move, and it's so bloody simple and obvious once you grasp it, thank you Russell.

I connect straight away with them because of the way that you explain things and also it seems to be the exact right timing for where I am in my golf swing journey. I have been having some lessons with a fantastic golf coach at Nazeing Golf Club who has been getting me to do what you are describing here and your video is reinforcing the ideas. Will definitely keep watching. Thank you for your efforts. 👍

    Great video Russ. I've been fighting the flip, fat shot, right arm straightening too early for ages in spite of having a fairly sound swing in most other regards. I've realised now after watching this and a quick test afterwards that I may have been doing what countless others have been doing in doing the exact opposite from what needs to be done to cure the fault. I've been thinking that that the right shoulder has been firing through too fast and that's what he been causing the fat shot with the shoulder lowering too much too early. In then trying to prevent the right shoulder from firing through and emphasise more the arms, this has led to the right arm straitening too early causing the flip, and the fat shot. Emphasising the rightshoulder firing through feels like it has greatly improving ball striking and sequencing hugely.

    Hey Russ. Recently I started thinking of the sole of the club sliding along the ground rather than thinking about the club face that everybody talks about. The results have been great. Feels like I'm gonna shank but the club just shoots through impact and smashes the ball with the sweetspot. And if I'm getting a little steep, thinking of the sole-turf interaction makes me naturally move better, swing more on plane and releasing out in front. I remember you doing a video on the club looking open at address being actually correct and that's what it feels like when I put my awareness to the sole of the club.. No-one seems to talk about it and I think it could make a great video talking about where one's awareness can be put. Hope what I've explained makes sense. I'd be interested to know your thoughts.

    Russell, my problem is with a conventional distance from the ball my right elbow hits my torso and the face closes (I need to trim some weight I know). I get some big hooks and pull hooks from there. Should I consider moving my hands further from my body? I've already pulled my hips back as far as I can and that does create some space. But it also puts me into a more bent over position, which doesn't feel too good on the back. Your suggestions?

    Excellent explanation and instruction. As I watched something occurred to me; if one is more 'down' on the swing then that means the club would feel longer, or you are too close to the ground - so does that mean that the ball must be more further away from the body?

    I alway thought that standing up is due to something else happening such as over the top swing or open club face?
    Also how do you limit the risk of letting the shaft lead too much and presenting an open club face or heel to the ball?
    Rgrds

    • @russellheritagegolf

      You have to time the amount of rotation of the arms. No easy answer but something you will have to face and get better with to have a better impact position

    Love your channel but I would love to see a better explanation on some of the terms the Golf Industry has been using forever without a proper definition. What actually is "covering" the ball for example? If you put a blanket on the ball it is covered. However, I have never seen a ball actually being covered:-) An ordinary talented Golfer like me does not really understand what to do and of course will end up doing it wrong. Other than that your channel is a thing of beauty. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with us.

    • @wharriso29
      @wharriso29 2 года назад

      I had the same question, covering the ball refers to almost feeling like your swing is over the ball which causes you to feel like your swing is coming in to out, which in turn makes the ball come out in lower trajectory and more distance, at least this is my understanding. I liken it to turning on an inside pitch in baseball.

    • @russellheritagegolf
      @russellheritagegolf  2 года назад

    • @verbeekh
      @verbeekh 2 года назад

      Errrrr? Thanks but let me try and reframe the question. Do you advocate that the trail arm is a source of power i.e. pushing against the handle actively propelling the club handle forward or should the trail arm and hand be responsible for squaring the club face and keeping the club head on plain?

    • @russellheritagegolf
      @russellheritagegolf  2 года назад +1

      @@verbeekh I would suggest it pushes at the start of downswing but many pros actually loosen the grip at impact so not I prefer the idea of impact being more left arm swing
