Good luck with her, looking forward to following the resto.
Wish you all the best for this stunning project
Good luck with putting another scraper back on the road it looks like your going to need it 👍
A red mk1 Supersport was my 1st car...and remember the day I paid £2100 for it.. (2nd hand) it was the 1st car after passing my driving test... and I bunny hopped down the road trying to get used to the clutch.. went out for my 1st drive that night and as soon as it got dark I couldn't find the headlights.. as I think it was a twisty arm headlight switch.. and didn't know it twisted around.. so drove home with hazards on lol. Good times.
Hi Both, I'm a new subscriber following Hubnut's recommendation. I'm loving your channel, but wow, tackling that would terrify me! I'm now about to binge watch all of your other videos. Thanks for your fab videos and relaxed nature.
Glad you've found us! Hope you enjoy binging the channel 😁👍
I’m restoring a mk1 xr2 at the moment, good luck, looking forward to watching your progress 👍
That shell 'was' a prime example of, 'How NOT to repair a car body!' Disgusting was - the aluminum bonded in, hah! Shane. :-)
In 1984 I had one of those in white with red stripes which is how I came across your excellent channel when is the next episode?
If its a 4 speed I can tell you how to realign gear stick selection

Will do! 🙂
Looks the wrong shell to be a genuine supersport
You've got a keen eye 🙂 we know it's been reshelled at some point in the past, we will be putting all the little details right as we go 😁
Thank you for watching and taking interest in the project.
Be good to see how it progreses
Oi oi the supersport police are here. How can you tell from a you tube video. 🤡🤡
Because of the width of the alloy wheels ford had to modify the rear spare wheel well which had been designed for slimmer steel wheels. From the outside you can see a small 'bump' underneath the bumper where they increased the well depth. The MK1 XR2 had the same 'bump'
The width of the alloys wasn't really the issue, but rather the increased diameter from 12" to 13" on both the SuperSport and XR2. Supersport and XR2 shells also differ in several other places, but that's mostly due to the differences between pre- and post facelift models. XR2 also has a specific front panel due to the round headlights, bumper mounts and rear seat latch mountings are among the other subtle differences. And then there's the '76 and Federal shells, (neither SS nor XR2 ofcourse) which are a different story altogether... Not too much work getting it right though, differences are subtle, and easily 'fixed'. Love seeing people give it the attention it deserves!
