So glad you made this vid, not many good vids only vids of people assembling and disassembling. i bought bike with a free coaster and its a kink switch. the free caoster has way more play than yours does and hard to find a vid of what to expect on how much play. I watched a cranmer vid during a vid from a while ago i recall matty comparing how fast his engages. but i cant recall the vid as it was not the point of the vid and scotty puts out many vids a week. so my bike has about 1/3 of peddle length and will move that much before it engages. i hate it but i have no clue if thats normal. been riding a dirt jumper for while and DH wanted to get back into BMX but im new to free coasters. is 1/3 a peddle to much?
I'm actually really torn between getting a Kink Whip and a Subrosa Letum. The Subrosa is a bit more, but it comes with a freecoaster, 4 pegs, hug guards and a sprocket guard. But that slack is something really offputting to me.
@@spenner_bmx3373 I'm just not sure if it's something I could get used to. All I've ever rode was a cassette. But it would make fakie's and stuff easier.
@@spenner_bmx3373 I actually decided on the Kink Switch. I like the cost and the extra's of the Letum. But I just really hate the paint scheme. I don't care for raw and the new ones are either black or red fading into raw.
@Oj Savage it really depends on the rider. With a cassette you will have pedal pressure( simply means that you have 0 slack and instant engagement) Slack just simply means when you pedal backwards on a cassette it has instant engagement because in the hub there ridges and the driver that interlock system. The driver has teeth on the inside that ride over the ridges which makes the ticking sound on a cassette and when you pedal forwards the teeth catch the ridges allowing you to pedal forward. The freecoaster has a clutch system and meaning that there is some slack. When you pedal backwards then pedal forwards before you move or get more speed there is that small little delay before your freecoaster engages again. I know this can be really confusing and I get that I really do but if you have any questions on bike stuff can ask me
@Botond Simák the tires I have are the Stevie Churchill signature ones. The tire is 20 x 2.45inch. When you have a wide rim and a wide tire it takes more surface area to expand when you air it up . The rim is a Stranger Crux XL Rim and it’s 43mm wide
You can get cults free coaster or cassette for same price 250. But they have their astronomical wheel which is freecoaster but sounds like cassette for 350.
@Derrick Williams You can buy a cassette wheel from your local bike shop or you can buy one from online at Sourcebmx.com The Secret Bmx Shop.com Dans Comp.com These websites have a wide variety of cassette/freecoaster wheels and other BMX parts
I actually like the cassette sound. Just reminds me of being a kid and that noise in the background when riding.
I like the sound of cassette but I also like riding silent so I ride freecoaster
I like cassette because it allows me to ride and people know I’m behind them without needing a bell
I have only rode cassette my whole life, I tried a free coaster and I did not like how loose the cranks feel😊
Thank you for explaining I'm still learning at 60...
I have 1 of each. A Diamondback freecoaster and a cassette haro. Love em both.
Thanks for clearing this for me.
Nice n chill video, I like it :)
Looking at these bikes makes me miss my Hutch Pro Racer.

I started out riding a cassette bike. It’s a bike that doesn’t have any slack like a freecoaster has

Very helpful but idk what’s easier for a beginner coaster makes no noise which is great but cassette is lighter can u help me?
Get a cassette because you can do all the beginning tricks on it and it’s more reliable.
Cassette is better for begging riders

Yo! What tires are those on the bike with the freecoaster? They fat asf i like them😂
It’s not the tired it’s how wide the wheel is

Fit bike frames are kinda good ig Ik this video is old but I have today and it’s super rad
I like both kinds got two bikes one with and without
All my life I only knew a freewheel lol.
He did not mention anything about if the cassette can go backwards or not without engaging
Just asking because the blue bike looks a little bigger and I feel like that's what I need
