Great video. I've done a few of these mangrove jacks cider kits and have just bought the blueberry one, can't wait to get it going. Thanks for the tips.
Great great video and very helpful. Just a simple question. The yeast package tells you just to sprinkle it on top. You also stirred it in. Is that a better thing to do or doesn't it really matter? Thank you so much. Tom
Hi Thanks for a great video . I just tried with my first brewing kit and am now at day five . The hydrometer reading says 1001 and the cider tastes a lot like yeast 🙈 don’t know what I did wrong but do you have any recommendations ?
I was surprised how good it has turned out. A couple of weeks later its improved further and is a tasty cider even someone from Somerset can enjoy. Cheers
No. Thats not how it works. Adding more dextrose would have meant even more yeast. As yeast eat the dextrose and create more detritus and more dead yeast cells.
@@Brewbitz Ah ok! Is there anyway for it to be fully dissolved into the liquid? Or this is the way to do it? I am considering buying a kit to try it. But i figured that i want to do some research first.
Hi there guys I hope your well, I like toffe flavour ale and was wondering if you could point me in the direction of a home brew kit. Also is it possible to add boiled toffee as a flavouring to a regular kit
Hi. Toffee flavours in traditional beers are usually produced using crystal malt. You can simply “mash“some crystal malt in water at 65°C for one hour and then add this flavoured water to your beer kit. Simply substitute the crystal malt flavoured water with some of the water he would’ve added to the beer kit. Have a read of our blog for more info how to add caramel toffee flavour - www.brewbitz.com/blogs/news/give-your-beer-a-boost-with-some-extra-grain There are breweries that have added toffee, crunchy bars, brown sugar, caramelised sugar, etc, to their beers to add extra toffee flavours. Remember that if you add toffee/crunchy bars there could be milk or other ingredients that will also add flavours to your finish beer. Also remember that adding anything that has sugar in it, will add to the sugar content in the beer that the yeast can eat and will therefore increase the alcohol content of your beer. Let us know how your beer turns out 😋
been brewing for 25 years plus and father was a brewer these kits are ideal for standard novice. cider should only be done the real way crush press ferment get drunk lol .good video though somerset and cornish cider is the only true cider
These kits are great if you dont have apples or the scratter or the press to get the apple juice. Or apples are out of season. They are a great base for experiments too.

How did the blueberry turn out?
Going to do my first cider kit this week! So great to see this video. But, will put it in a keg and then in to bottles though. Cheers from Norway!
Why keg and then bottles?
@@Brewbitz keg to carbonize before bottleing.
Haha I've just brewed one today, blueberry. I also put a bulldog brews lager I'd brewed into the exact same king keg you've got there. Coincidence.
Lager, i don’t think we’ve done a lager kit on video. And I think we can bring some ideas to the party

Hi. If it was a beer, you’d leave it to do its thing, but most other yeasts appreciate getting in there.
@@Brewbitz Will remember. Thank you

Sounds like its doing EXACTLY what it should be doing. Dont try and rush these things. It’s not ready yet.
@@Brewbitzthank you so much for the prompt reply 🙏 seems I have misunderstood the SG levels . Thanks a lot , I will wait and try again in some days .
Great video can't beat a good cide

Could you not have added a bit more dextros to get rid of that residue yeast?

@simonbionary11010 please let us k ow what you want to do and we can give you some guidance.
The haze in this cider is mainly yeast. This will settle down on the bottom and will leave a clear cider in about 2-4 weeks.
