- When editing files digitized by someone other than you, you will often have to convert the file from "stitches" to "blocks" then un-group them in order to edit the different elements of the design.
I’ve no words to thank you for your time expended to share your PE-Design knowledge. I imagine that was a LOT of time. And that will save me an aeon. I’m a completely newbie and newcomer to the world of digitizing. I started using PE-Design 10 once in a while some months ago (the software came bundled with the machine) to help my wife with her embroidery hobby and it’s been a daunting and time consuming task every time I do so. And that’s because it’s been a self-learning trial & error approach, using the soft instruction manual and digging the net. I really started from true zero. Until now I’ve found only some disperse stones. Now I found a Monument: your channel. This is a true course, well structured, well explained (I like in particular the explanations why something is done in some manner and the pros & cons) the examples are awesome (real life situations) and the play lists amazing! Hats off! Brother owes you. Now the MRSP for PE-Design 10 starts to make sense. They should award you with a Luminaire XP-1. Most sincere congratulations Kathleen and once again thank you so much.
What a kind letter Isaac, You are exactly the reason I made these tutorials. Like you, I thought I would never understand this software. There was nothing on the internet back then, so my sister and I traveled to all the sewing seminars within range. Had a lot of great instructors (Nita O'Keef, W. Floriani, Steve Wilson, John Deer) When I was teaching my son digitizing he suggested setting up these tutorials. Because I make barely $50 a month on RUclips (I do not hound viewers for subscriptions and "likes"), it is feedback like yours that is the true value.
Kathleen, my recognition is of most elementary justice. Your attitude “not hound viewers for subscriptions and "likes" is truly noble and reflected by the quality of your tutorials. Here in Portugal we don´t have sewing seminars of such level for the public in general. You must take a professional course. And concerning digitizing software training there’s nothing. So your tutorials have a much greater importance as you can imagine. Have a nice day.@@OleensEmbroidery
Fantastic, thank you for taking this on I really appreciate it. I'm now going to play to see if I can stop the puckering :)
I mass change the attributes in a design by ungrouping them, but then selecting them all the display will show blank where the density is, but if you click the home button, it will change all of them at one time, the same with understitch etc.
Hi, I'm trying to learn this, and maybe it's just me. But, I'm having a hard time trying to follow the arrow, when you are moving it so fast. You are a great teacher, I just to keep going back.
can u please do a tutorial on a logo with hand i don't know what to do with fingers
great information
I'm also curious about the fringe walk technique.
Long hair
And if you could do it with fringe work,
I would be grateful.
I never did a fringe tutorial. It was on my list, but my computer died along with the screen capture software. I haven't made a new video in years. However I always monitor the viewers questions an analyze files. I learned my fringe technique from John Deer. He has EXCELLANT tutorials and a very active channel even though he uses a different software. I bet he would do a video on that if he doesn't already have one. good luck.
Oleen, does this method change the original digitizer's settings if you don't change anything? I just want to split the stitches so I can change up the colors in my design.
Yes it can which is why I always save the original
Quick question, what’s the difference between pe design 10 and pe design next ? If there is any ?

Not really a quick question as there are quite a few upgrades in PED10. Some of them can still be done in PED Next with a few more steps, others I can not live without . Watch these two videos. I believe I covered most of the changes.
Can you tell me why my sew order column has disappeared from the left hand side and when I click on the tool bar it does not appear ? thanks in anticipation x
You need to click on it under the "view" tab. Top upper left, one over from the "home tab"
Hi Kathleen , I enjoy your videos and I just about mastered PED 10 thanks to you ! I’m working on a design with letters using the built in fonts and wanted to do a tie dye effect in one of the letters. Is there a way for me to do this w/o having to manually fill in the letter with each individual color. I even tried taking a tie dye background and putting it behind the letter with the fill stitch area not sewn and there’s just a running stitch. Only problem is that I don’t know how to get the picture to fill into the letter...is that even possible with PED 10 ? Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon.
Glad the videos are helping. Send your graphic and PES file to kathleen@oleens.com and i will take a look
May I know name of this software??🙏 please
This is PE Design 10
