Adin points this out in his separate comment, below, but at 50:20 with the Horizontal Sort segment, there is a mistake, Deb did not make the final sort with the movies in mind so the list of actors is out of sync with the movies they starred in, so her conclusion as to which four movies they were all in together is incorrect. I noticed some mistakes in the earlier video on Beginner to Intermediate as well, but since this one is a bit more advanced functions and function combos, it should be re-looked at and corrected. Some of those previous ones I can figure out how to correct fairly easy, this one will take a bit more thinking on my part, but I think I can work out something. Still working through the video and may have other feedback to give. I am very impressed overall with how good this video has been, I wanted to make that clear that it has been very useful and its appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks Deb, amazing how much training is available online, but people still spend 1000's on courses. We are greatly indebted to all the creatives of this world, especially those who make it available for the masses not just the classes.. You All are Invaluable to humanity.. Thank You
I have to say I almost never comment on RUclips videos I watch. But this course is flawless. Everywhere from the concepts covered to the files you can use to follow along... I'm blown away by how perfect this was. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you so much for this. This is amazing for anyone, but if you are unemployed and cannot afford to take a course, this really helps employment prospects. You can walk into a job role with more confidence knowing you have this knowledge. The downloadable files really help with practice too.
Today, is exactly 11 days of my self enrolment in to the course, and I can confidently say that my level of practical knowledge of the tutorial is at least 80% . And I know continue practice will make me a guru. Thanks so much Simon Sez IT
Excellent tutorial, however... There's a mistake at 49:15. You sort the data on the right but the left side remains unaffected. This means the rows no longer line up after you sorted. So when you match the red duplicates, they actually don't line up with the movie titles anymore. The duplicates were not "The Interview" and "Superbad", but instead "This is the end" and "Superbad". The duplicates were not "Burn After Reading" and "Insurgent", but instead "Divergent" and "Insurgent".
I believe @49:40 arranging the actors in alphabetical order displaced the movie reference. The duplicate movies would be Divergent/Insurgent and This is the end/ Superbad. Solution would be to create another column, copy the movies to that column (left), copy, paste as value, sort, expand selection.
Another solution is to make the whole thing a table now that it's ready for sorting, or SKIP THE SORTING and just go straight to duplicate highlighting, once highlighted it's much easier to match up the movies anyway, but sorted would be nice.
i started your course from beginners course 7days ago ,now i'm in the advanced course it's really a super course ,the way you explain ... thank you so much deb
50:15 Deb, I thank you for your great course! I'm a big fan of you. However, although you found the actors, the corresponding movies are not right, since there is a column between the movies table and the column you created, and when you sort them, the movies' order doesn't change.
2:23:13 With all due respect dear Deb, you should first MATCH for Company (since it is the row that asked as a prior argument in INDEX) and then for Month. Your sanity check had this problem: you checked for the 5th month and 5th company, the 1st month, and the 1st company, so the row and column numbers were the same.
Thank you for your teaching and the effort put into this video and practice tasks. However, I noticed you have taught unique and distinct in the wrong order. Excel describes unique as values that appear only once and UK has been included in the unique list but appears multiple times within the table at (20:00)

Excellent tutorial, nicely explained. However example 2 of XMATCH, the function fails to give correct number of employees who surpassed 17,000 sales figure if the sales figure are not of descending order.
Thank you, this is Amazing, a quick question though -while typing formulas and referencing a cell or range of cells, you mentioned locking the cell, how do you do that?
If you right click on a cell then select Format Cells, there should be a pop up window, then go to the Protection tab. All cells by default are locked, which is indicated by a checkmark next to the Locked option. You can close this window by clicking OK to save your changes or Cancel. Next, go to Review tab in the menu ribbon and click on Protect Sheet. You can then select what actions are allowed for the locked cells. You can lock or unlock multiple cells by highlighting all of them before right clicking.
I have commented a problem about two way lookup using Index & Match function. I have solved the problem myself, The Formula that I have done-=INDEX(Data,MATCH(A14,company,0),MATCH(B13,Month,0)) and then give the right result.

I am intrigued by this course; I'm excited to learn more! However, the course file download did not work for me. I watch approximately 1/2 hour worth of videos, but still now downloads.

Hey there! Thanks a bunch for the awesome feedback! ✅You can download the course files here ➡️ www.simonsezit.com/excel-2021-advanced-instructorexercise-files/ Just click the button that says "Get My Files" so that we can send you the course files through your email.
At 50:20 when you name the movies, you get the wrong ones as you already sorted col G, and actors in col G don't match movie in col A anymore. Other than that is a great tutorial, thank you.
Thank you so much for posting this course and a link to the files!! I bought an Excel learning bundle with the 2021 beginner and intermediate but the bundle didn't have 2021 advanced. Very much appreciated and Deb- you're amazing!
@2:24:14 The double MATCH formula seems to only work once. I tried several different combinations and it isn't correct. My formula is: =INDEX(Data,MATCH(B13,Months,0),MATCH(A14,Companies,0)) which I believe is correct. I wonder why it doesn't work.
Thank you for this. Where can I find the rest of the course. Some items, such as form controls and lumbda, are mentioned in the intro but aren't available in this vid.
Peace be upon you Thank you for the wonderful content I would like you to specify the most important jobs required in the labor market. Who works in Excel? And what are the most important skills that you want to acquire to implement these activities in order to quickly enter the labor market?
Hi, I have MSOffice LTSC Professional Plus 2021. I am not able to execute your formula in the first 2 lessons. My excel is not showing any formula such as filter. I did not check further. Do I have incorrect version of excel?
Love the calming voice and pace . I am learning alot however when I tested your 2 way look up with index and match I didnt get the right answer all the time then I realised the error. Index formula is array, then row_num then [column num] the example was giving column number then row number The examples were same row and column number ( 5x5 and 1x1). So that's why it still worked.

Hello, I have a question In excel 2021, the Khmer font in work sheet is pretty normal, but when I go to print the khmer font is cut off above. So what can i do?
Hi Zhang, thank you for letting us know. In the meantime, you can use the 02-06-extract-unique-values-by-column-Complete.xlsx file to follow along in this section, although this file would already have the final solutions.
In Two way Lookup section, I have tried your Instructor Files practice but I can not get right result using Index & match function, I have write-=INDEX(Data,MATCH($B$13,Month,0),MATCH($A$14,company,0)), It gives for Month Sep against GoExplore. Pls Give me a Solution
When I'm trying to apply the unique function to arrays or tables, it just duplicates the values! Therefore, it only works with a single column and row?
The UNIQUE function in Excel works with arrays, but if you're seeing duplicates, it might be due to extra spaces or formatting issues. It can handle multiple columns and rows, but ensure the data is clean and properly formatted.

To combine the Excel Countif with the distinct value formula, you would need to use the IFERROR function. The syntax for the IFERROR function is as follows: IFERROR(value, error_message) In this example, we would use the IFERROR function to check to see if the value entered into the cell is less than or equal to 10. If it is, we would use the distinct value formula to display the number of distinct values in the column that is equal to 10. If the value is not less than or equal to 10, we would use the countif function to count the number of cells in the column that are not less than or equal to 10. We would then use the IFERROR function to check to see if the countif function returned an error. If it did, we would display the error_message in the cell.

Hi, I need to lump certain values to sum up. But these values will get updated from time to time. Ideally, values can be listed in a separate sheet or table to update any time. For example, Salary pay report contains pay details for each employees detailed as normal pay, annual leave, sick leave, these are in the same category called Salary; meal allowance, car allow etc are all under the Allowance. I need to set up a template to sum up Salary, Allowance etc. I think xlookup will meet my need, but my excel version only return the first value...what's your advice.

50:15 Deb, I thank you for your great course! I'm a big fan of you. However, although you found the actors, the corresponding movies are not right, since there is a column between the movies table and the column you created, and when you sort them, the movies' order doesn't change.

✅You can download the course files here ➡️ www.simonsezit.com/excel-2021-advanced-instructorexercise-files/
Just click the button that says "Get My Files" so that we can send you the course files through your email.
I think the values that appear only once are unique and the values with their duplicates removed are distinct. Correct me if I'm wrong.
At 50:20 when you name the movies, you get the wrong ones as you already sorted col G, and actors in col G don't match movie in col A anymore. Other than that is a great tutorial, thank you.
Hi there, I also have the same concern the names doesn't match the movie title. Regards.
Thank you so much for posting this course and a link to the files!! I bought an Excel learning bundle with the 2021 beginner and intermediate but the bundle didn't have 2021 advanced. Very much appreciated and Deb- you're amazing!
Hi Dab your every video is incredible for excel learner. Thank you so much💌

@2:24:14 The double MATCH formula seems to only work once. I tried several different combinations and it isn't correct. My formula is: =INDEX(Data,MATCH(B13,Months,0),MATCH(A14,Companies,0)) which I believe is correct. I wonder why it doesn't work.
great explanation, thanks for sharing
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this. Where can I find the rest of the course. Some items, such as form controls and lumbda, are mentioned in the intro but aren't available in this vid.
Lovely tutorial. Watched it all the way through.
Glad you are finding them helpful, Raaghav G.R. :-)
Afternoon, have really tried to download those practise files more than 5 times....but haven't not received them on my PC...
Wonderful! Glad it worked out.
W aha
W aha,

Dear Dab, the attached instructor file 02-06-extract-unique-values-by-column workseet is wrong, this is the same with 02-05.
Hi Zhang, thank you for letting us know. In the meantime, you can use the 02-06-extract-unique-values-by-column-Complete.xlsx file to follow along in this section, although this file would already have the final solutions.
a question please: how come my Excel 365 does not work on array formula? I had Excel 2019 and upgraded it today.
Resolved
nice and easy to understand the tutorial, TY
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for dropping by :-)
In Two way Lookup section, I have tried your Instructor Files practice but I can not get right result using Index & match function, I have write-=INDEX(Data,MATCH($B$13,Month,0),MATCH($A$14,company,0)), It gives for Month Sep against GoExplore. Pls Give me a Solution
Having trouble with downloading excel files, stuck at 50%, any alternate link?
Excellent and simple and useful

When I'm trying to apply the unique function to arrays or tables, it just duplicates the values! Therefore, it only works with a single column and row?
The UNIQUE function in Excel works with arrays, but if you're seeing duplicates, it might be due to extra spaces or formatting issues. It can handle multiple columns and rows, but ensure the data is clean and properly formatted.

thank you so much! This is superb!
SKIBIDI TOILET
Hello Simon, I notice there are disparities between the files in the video and the files shared via email. is this in anyway intentional? if not how do i get access to the more complete files. thank you and great job by the way.
Can you provide an example? The demo and exercise files are the same ones provided by Deb for the course.
@@SimonSezIT exercise 1 was not included
Perfect course, thanks.

Great but how to combine Countif with distinct value
To combine the Excel Countif with the distinct value formula, you would need to use the IFERROR function. The syntax for the IFERROR function is as follows:
IFERROR(value, error_message)
In this example, we would use the IFERROR function to check to see if the value entered into the cell is less than or equal to 10.
Amazing as always
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 😃

bro my shopify store plan is 36 now.I want to active again, now when i want to active shoud i pay 36 now again because i payid one after 1 month and i deactive now i want to active again
Submitted my email, but never received the training files that I was suppose to have gotten. Anyone else having this issue?
Never mind. Used a different email and it worked fine. BTW I am very impressed with her teachings.
i want to calculate time 60 mintue one hour at the same time 61 minutes is one hour one minutes, so i want to solve this problem
