We've had our 2013 R56 JCW for about four years now. It's got the N18 engine and auto/flappy paddle gearshift, making it a pretty rare example. both my wife, and I love it. We've both got other cars but both of us love driving the Mini. It's smaller than the later F56 models, making it easy to park anywhere, it also handles like a go cart. It reminds me of my old mk1 Golf GTI. I usually get bored with cars quite quickly, but I've no plans to sell the Mini any time soon, which speaks volumes as to how good this car really is.
Emphatically yes too this, had an N14 for 5 years, timing chain, thermostat housing, HPFP, oil burning, crank oil seals, all problems I experienced, These cars need good maintenance, they are not built/engineered like a Toyota, they will cost you (quite a lot of) money to run and keep in good condition. Electrical problems, change the battery, buy OEM from mini, alternatives do not work and cost the same. Got and N18 JCW now, love it.
Can't believe your insurance price! I'm 21, 3 years NC and mine is £700. But I don't have any mods. Love your car, went for the same colour combination after seeing your original video last year
Hi Daniel, I’d love to have that insurance price but I think mods and my location (bit of a dive!) don’t help. Thanks for the nice comment, would love to see some pics of yours, are you on insta?
Your comments about the stiffness and it being low I found interesting as I'm looking to get one of these as a more comfy fun car. Currently drive a DC2. I'll be curious to see how they compare when I get round to driving one.
Hey Craig, thanks for the comment! It’s properly stiff in my opinion, every speed bump, pothole is a living nightmare. But honestly once you swing it round a fast corner or roundabout it’s quickly forgotten! DC2 is a lovely car, we love an Integra here! You’ll mainly notice the short wheelbase between the two cars but let me know if you do grab a JCW, quality cars and so much fun.
Yo man, do you still have car? What are those front seats? I have n18 jcw and found that with my physique i dont have enough sidewall on standard leather seats. + update interior abit. Thanks for video btw, helped me in making decision to buy it, and have 0 regrets so far
Did you ever test drive an r53 jcw? Recently lost mine and was wondering if it was worth buying the same gen although mine was a really nice example so somewhat reluctant. Do you think going for something like an r56 is the right thing to do. Didn’t know if they were a lot better standard. Loved mine to bits too and would be unfortunate to leave minis all together. If you could give any insight it would be much appreciated if not thanks for the video, super informative.
I’ve driven that generation, but it was a cooper only. I’d love to drive an R53 for sure! I absolutely love my R56, they need a bit of love and care but if you do they’re so rewarding. If you get a well specced one (with decent head unit / Harmon kardon speakers etc) then I’d say it’s definitely worth it as the extra goodies make the car a bit more usable on a day to day basis. Let me know what you go for! Mine may even be for sale ;)

People who have problems with this engine are people who dont chech there oil and dont do full maintanance regulary, like any other car

@@Steve-rv1ql Any issues with your N18 JCW so far?! Just sold my E55 AMG, so eyeballing N18 JCW as something for a different kind of fun
OEM dip stick is soooo easy to read. Just wipe it with a rag with a little brake cleaner.
Loved the video! How many kms/miles did your mini had when you bought it?

@@jcscarculture5267 I'll make one for my car haha I was thinking of doing it anyway @dan_r56. I'd love to see more of yours on there?
Followed 😎
Paying £1400 all mods declared stage 1 exhaust etc and I’m 19 with 1 year NCB 😂In Scotland.
That’s not too bad for being 19! No idea why mine is so bad, never paid under £1,000 a year for any car I’ve had 🥴

Also, just to note I am on coilovers! So with a standard setup it may be a lot more forgiving :)
I believed you right up until you said the 14 engine was reliable!😂

Hate background music, how off putting
Nice car🚗
Thank you! I love it
Dude lose the elevator music over your entire video so distracting
