Love the mini project - I have an R56 Cooper S with 120,000 miles and still going strong so I'm a big fan of them. I'd do a walnut blast on the valves if you haven't already as well as look to clean the injectors because when either are gunked up they can often not give you enough fuel/air, thus robbing you of power. Looking forward to seeing more bro
I work round the corner from these guys, often seen (and heard) a few highly turned focus rs coming down the road, always puts a smile on my face (with a little envy) keep up the good work!
I’ve recently had my 2008 r56 copper s stage 2 mapped with: decat, airtec intercooler, gfb dv+, pipercross filter and res delete, it made 225bhp and 310nm. I need to get my intake ports cleaned up as well as a JCW turbo fitted and a full intake system and then I’ll be going back for more power hoping in the region of 260-270ish.
I loved owning a JCW when I was living in Cyprus. I bought it from an enthusiast and it was mint, stripped out and absolutely rapid! Seeing this early transformation brings back fond memories and I hope you enjoying many happy and safe memories with this project bro. Let’s see you make this R56 a beast to be envious of!!! 💪🏼
Ben is like a magician, he explains things so well so you can understand and does not waffle and comes across like he knows his stuff without sounding condescending.
I'm curious. Let's say the coked valves were contributing to a 15 BHP loss from stock (example). If they were then cleaned up, would the car just regain that 15 BHP, or would it need a re-tune to get it back?
Fresh cat and a walnut blast on the inlet valves, as long as the compression and turbo are good it'll be fresh again. They need it fairly often if you care about those ponies, the catch cans help but it doesn't eliminate it. Fun little cars 👍
I had a mini N18 Intercooler Exhaust Miltek down pipe Forge induction kit Silicone boost hoses Updated dv Forge rear sway bars Coilovers Wheel spacers Made 244bhp on a stage 2 tune Stock it was under power coming in at 178bhp Best far Iv owned
Get the inlet valves and intake manifold cleaned out...should gain some power back...also remember if these are whp readings.... factory quotes you on flywheel so then adding the drivetrain loss...i think you would be well over factory claimed power...
FYI the earlier JCW’s made 192 flywheel HP it was the later 58 onward cars with slightly different spec that made 208. So the engine in this car is spot on at 194.
WHP on a dyno isn't BHP, PS or HP. Considering drivetrain loss, 194 on the dyno translates to about 205-215 hp @ the crank. A true BHP measurement would involve a brake applied to the flywheel, and the intensity of this brake would determine the bhp. Another words the JCW DID make the claimed hp/bhp from the factory. That being said I love this channel and keep the great content flowing!
mate your running a N14 Mini Cooper S that is 178hp stock and the intercooler and the intake as boosted it up. you have a JCW KIT from factory with front bumper, rear bumper and side skirts. A real JCW IS called a N18 that will be running 211 hp or more because they usually overpower from stock. It’s not a JCW mate. please don’t send your car to any mechanic apart from Lohen or 1320 MINI. if you want your mini running sound go there !!
I got a r56 it’s stage 3 now hybrid turbo RPM tuned fitting a jcw kit as we speak, if you ever come to California I got a couple cars for you to check out big turbo b6 Passat let me know fam
What mods do you have? I had on JCW r58 n14 only colder sparg plugs, decat, aem intake and on basic Stage after decoke car has 242ps (at 4990) and 385nM/284lbft (at 2950) on the wheels 😁👌
Looking forward to track day should be a blast Calvin. Also mate I don’t know if I’ve missed it but I’m not sure if you’ve collaborated with LLF Ricky would make for a sick video I think you two would get on well Would like to see him on your podcast reach out to him I’m sure he would love to do something I’m assuming he would anyway i’ve seen you guys Come up roughly parallel I’m surprised you’ve not worked together
Thank you for doing a R56 JCW right now I'm working on a just the S model but that those cars are so fun. I was going to get the R53 but with the turbo you can get more power and it's still around the same size as the R53.
@@rosst.2565 okay then you're off to a good start, only problem I've found is the diaphragms in the electric bov kept failing and leaking away the boost
@@tundaslug07 That is one of the recommended things to upgrade, you may be able to do it yourself or with some help..good luck. Change the thermostat housing, valve cover and upgrade your timing chain to maybe aftermarket. The stock ones are a ticking time bomb.
194 at the wheels so this car was making in the mid low 200’s which is a nice bump over the standard 211. Haven’t finished the video yet tho so not sure if it gets tuned at the end
I’m building a Suzuki Grand Vitara off roader and trying to get as many pairs of decals/stickers for the rear windows as possible would happily rep Officially Gassed as a long standing subscriber! Few videos on my RUclips of my 4x4!
Does Ben know how to tune older ECUs I'd be suprised if he does only guy I know is Phil at malory performance the ecu out chip out n everything takes the piss with my car
Shoot my ex’s mini had all those upgrades and a decated downpipe, and it was still on the stock tune😂 ps you’ve got to understand that whp is different from power at the crank. You were making more power than stock not less. Now you are making 237whp you are closer to 270hp at the crank. I’m not sure what sort of smoke that tuner was blowing saying your car should have made power sooner because the turbo is small. An engine is going to make power where it wants depending on the cam duration, lift, overhead cam vs under, the valve airflow(2vs4 valves) and intake manifold runner length, the turbo is just going to add power on top of the curve not change in the curve entirely.
Yh loved mine when it was working , I had a 13 JCW. Most problematic car I've ever owned 🙈 26k needed a new clutch , HPFP etc . Loved it and hated it at the same time.
The R56 doesn.t last long, anything you try to do. The engine is the worst part of the car. I got friends with r56 that invested around 35k Euros in tuning and still got broke. If not the case, in time it gets damaged. r53 or f56 would do much better.
Seems like someone spent alot of money on it and then lost heart cos it wasn't any quicker....... Not realising it needed mapping to unlock the extra power.... 🤔🤷♂️
These cars are beautiful and fun but damn that engine is pure garbage! 😬I've had my R56 Cooper S for 1,5 years and there hasn't been a month when something didn't break. What a shame, it could've been a perfect car. 😕

Get the inlet valves walnut blasted and you’ll see more of those HP’s come back mate.

@@CookieRoxette mine regained the power without a map, purely because it wasn’t restricted anymore.
Are these engine direct injection?
@@modermonkula yes mate. So around the back of the inlets gets coked up and blocked.
True

Ben is so knowledgeable which makes the car development videos really interesting
Love seeing this car being worked on as i work on my r56 jcw, they are known to have chocolate engines 😂
They are really good figures, nice work from the wizard once again 👏

Nice shop, cant even flash a MED17 via obd and needs to send the file to have it checked. I would not recommend doing a ecu calibration there.
Haven't been watching much youtube for a while but I'm back and here is Jamie still keeping it real 💯 👌 top video bro
Ive got an R56 MCS N14. Non-JCW. Honestly, think its a shame the engine is so slated. 66,000 miles, FSH & kept well, amazing car.
We need more guest cars on the channel xx
Ah the notorious N14, good luck 😅
J....big up Ben he is bad what he does...Nice wheels to run on the track.
Always nice to see Ben doing his magic. Sounds sick.
Mateee that mk4 golf in the background is freshhhhhhh af
Proper little weapon bro this is 👍😎🔥 Bags of fun on track I’m sure ! Good build man 🙏 Peace
Aint seen that black golf mk4 on your channel that in back ground looks nice

Incorrect

No what they say never take them to maximum on standard headgasket always knock a bit off it lol
If it had the upgraded hoses, intercooler etc could the previous owner not have had it mapped and just returned it to stock map/ecu for sale?
If it’s not a genuine jcw and it has the jcw tuning kit installed at the dealer then N14 made 195-200 go. Not 211hp
Good job you're giving it away Jamie 😀
Does it have downpipe Intercooler charge pipe and all goodies ? These push 250+ on stock jcw turbo n a few bolt on

How come the seats in your mini cooper jcw are just like standard ones out of a standard one not like the booket seats you should have in a jcw mini
They arent standard seats. It looks like the lounge leather interior which was an expensive option. Still not buckets tho as you say
Recaro jcw buckets are 1.5k for a set nowadays, not sure how much they were from factory
The lounge seats In this are actually an upgrade and the buckets were even more of an upgrade. The standard seats were flat leather.
Bimmer-Mini oil filter: "KILL ME NOW! I'M DYING"
That oil filter was starting to clog up badly signs of long long oil change intervals
What did the dyno say it made at the tires?
Is “full send” the map company as can’t find them
Love this car 😍🤩
Mine had same problem and bought brand new battery and car was sweet
Had my MCS mapped at 217hp from a stage 1
Go for a Hybrid Turbo
No pain, no gain :D
why does he boot it instead of bench it wich is the same result?
The n14 is not a good motor. I wish you brought a later model jcw with the n18
All R56 JCW are N14. N18 was on LCI mini cooper s but not JCW

All dynos in the UK read corrected BHP not WHP. So it was making 237 bhp not 237 whp.
Where is finish your JCW??
This would be an interesting run with my car !
Why does this not surprise me? Probably because mines always broke 😂 mini life!
Loved my r53,
should of brought one of those white cars parked next to it if u wanted a track car lol
me seaing broke in the title waiting for it to blow up on the dino XD
It's not starting because there isn't enough aftermarket JCW badges all over it.
Ben been hitting the gym it seems 👀 or could be the twin turbo r8 shedding him up
U mirin?
Looks somewhat similar to jtagging and xbox
You could hear the difference straight away from 188 to 237 👍
So what’s going on Gassed gangggg 😏
