He actually looks really well cared for and healthy. Perhaps someone is missing him.
I thought the same. His coat is just so beautiful, which could be because he is young, but it does give the impression someone cared for him.
I think he'd look more traumatised and sad if he was a "home" pet, but he might have had decent people looking out for him in the streets
Then why didn’t they look for him?
Home pets are terrified when they arrive in a shelter.

He’s so beautiful. I wonder if he could have some flat coated retriever mixed with the shepherd? He’s just lovely! Reminds me a little of my old rescue dog named Ragus - Rags for short. It is an Irish Gaelic word meaning desire (it’s also a musical in Ireland).
There has to be a special adoption moment. I knew the moment I saw my Ragus she was my dog. They were bringing her into the shelter as I arrived and I looked to my mom and said “that’s my dog! I wonder if they are giving her up?” I went up to them and asked if I could have her. The humane shelter said they wouldn’t even charge me since they hadn’t processed her yet.
Ragus had been to the shelter 2 times that year and been through 3 families by the time I got her. She was afraid of men and had always been chained up outside with her previous family. We brought her home and my dad worked so hard to bond with her, which she eventually did. She was such an amazing and special dog. I can’t imagine how anyone could give her up. I had 14 amazing years with her.
Adoption is a magical moment. It takes a while sometimes, but when the right dog meets the right owner, it’s a beautiful experience. My new rescue is named Kona. It took a year to find him, but I knew when I saw him he was meant for me. You know when it’s right.
I hope this beautiful dog gets a special adoption story too! I hope the right person sees him and knows “that’s my dog!”.
Ragus...very cute and most appropriate name for her story from rags to riches. She sounded like a very special 'find'. The journey we take with rescues is always a meaningful journey of love, isn;t it. My little guy had been rejected a few times, but it was love at first sight for the two us when we met.
