I remember hearing Irwin Allen had filmed a view of the whole model ship capsized to show after the helicopter took off like when the wave hit but he thought it looked fake and decided not to use it.
A bitter sweet rescue. They were happy to be saved, of course, but I wish their loved ones survived to be rescued with them. Very good movie, by the way, and excellent acting.
In the book they find out that survivors in fact made it out from the bow and were in better condition. I can see why they didn’t have that in the film
@KevinShackett-u6g Biggest irony is if he wasn't arguing all the way and worked with the Reverend, they would've moved faster and reached the area before the engine room went underwater. His wife, Mrs. Rosen and the Reverend likely would be alive. The only casualty would've been Mr. Acres.

I also love where Mr. Martin and Nonnie embrace each other. It appears he's found the right woman after being a bachelor for a long time.
Me too. I know there's an age difference but I like to think they ignored that, courted, married and had a family.
These people are extremely sad to have seen the last of my characters role falling into the flames.
I think Nonnie went off and found another man her own age.

I figured after all that has happened and making it to the end, he finally broke down and cried.
