How Dangerous Was Covid? Zuby Vs Dr. Dan Wilson

    • Agreeing and Disagreei...
Zuby and Dr. Dan Wilson discuss the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on vaccines, mandates, and public health policies. Dr. Wilson critiques Zuby for suggesting mRNA vaccines are dangerous and responsible for numerous deaths, a claim Zuby clarifies he never made outright but emphasizes his opposition to mandates, coercion, and misleading information from authorities. Zuby provides infection fatality rates (IFR) by age to argue that COVID-19's threat was not as severe for most people and that the measures taken, such as lockdowns and mandates, caused more harm than the virus itself.
Dr. Wilson counters by highlighting the broader impacts of COVID-19, including hospitalizations and long-term health issues, and presents data showing vaccines' effectiveness in reducing severe outcomes, even among younger populations. They discuss differing perspectives on the appropriate response to the pandemic and the balance between public health measures and individual freedoms.

Even if it were 1%. At the same time this was going on, I was having liver failure and needed a transplant. I had a 90% of dying during the two months for me to get a liver transplant. Then my kidneys failed and I needed a kidney transplant. Were there an injection available for those things, I probably would have gotten one.
But, the entire time I was there in the hospital (the better part of a year), I still didn't get a shot for that and I told the doctors that I thought it was oversold (ie, If something is both good and free, why are they having to push it so hard?) and that to me said something wasn't right. It just didn't add up.
Honestly, the only reason I was afraid during that time was that I read stories about people who were being denied transplants if they didn't have their shots.

I met up with a school friend in Saigon (I was working there) who was involved in the UK vaccine development. We were out for dinner when she told me about the work that she'd been doing. We talked about covid and I mentioned that I'd caught it from a mutual friend, as well as 4 others. So one guy infected 5 others, at the same time. I mentioned that our mutual friend was ill in bed for over a week, as were all of the other folks infected that night. I said but I was very lucky, I was not ill at all but did feel somewhat "off" in the evenings but nothing that would have me thinking I was sick or even suffering from a cold. My friend gushed, smiled and said "well, of course that was because the vaccine protected you!". I looked at her and said I was the only one of the 6 guys that had not taken the shots. She was absolutely livid and demanded to know why I'd not taken it? I'm an Engineer and my mindset would not have that outlook, I'd be more interested in finding out why the, odd man out, was the one without any problem! I asked why I would be so lucky compared to the others. The answer, "well you must have had natural immunity". What a bit of coincidental luck that was then

Edited to correct a mangled statement:
Yes, that "case fatality rate" thing made no sense, and wouldn't even support his viewpoint anyway, as infections are a fraction of cases (PCR positives). Case fatality rates are a fraction of infection fatality rates, and population fatality rates are a fraction of case fatality rates.
Of course, none of this even begins to address whether C fatalities actually shorten lives by very much, statistically. Who cares what one's chances are of dying with a specific disease, if the existence of that disease does not change one's overall chance of dying?

The use of granular, block statistics by guys like Wilson really irks me. Like the repeated 1% of the population (all age groups) being at risk of dying. A good scientist would try to determine the exact factors that lead to that outcome for the 1%, rather than happily lumping everyone together, high risk to zero risk and averaging it out.
There are precise reasons why each individual that died died, while everyone else didn't, and it certainly wasn't the random roll of a dice.

They're both open to some interpretation, but the usage during this "pandemic" has been case = positive test, and infection = replication to the point of shedding (with or without symptoms). Dr. Wilson at one point uses "infection" to mean any person who has a copy of the virus in any living cell, which is something I've never heard before, but which, if it were the definition, would probably mean that virtually everyone has been "infected" many, many times.

What would have been the outcome if early antiviral treatment had been given rather than denied,? What would have been the fatality rate? Questions that never seem to be considered.
Everything about this discussion reinforces my recent conditioning not to trust doctors. From mid 2020 I started taking quite a high dose of vitamin d3, zinc and quercitin which, from my research, I learnt is good for immunity and fighting viral infection, since then, apart from a short period of loss of taste, ive not had any symptoms or colds and, combined with an improved diet my health has improved significantly.
I've had some significant illness during my life and no doctor has ever told me that improving my diet, high fat low carb, and taking vitamin D would improve my health and reduce my drug dependency, I only found this from my own research. I've learnt that doctors aren't as knowledgeable or clever as I was lead to believe, when you see a white coat that means ask questions, do research, make your own choices.

My favorite analogy for this is prostate cancer. By the logic of Wilson, every man, woman and child should be undergoing prostate examinations, because statistically the population has a 1.1% chance of dying from it, which could then be prevented. I'm sure his risk benefit analysis would show the risks of the exams is lower in every age group. He might even concede that the half of the population without a prostate shouldn't have to have the exam. But seriously? Even younger men and children?
