I’m 52 hoping to end the rat race by 60 with above $1M. I know money is a liability to be exchanged for assets with real value like real estate (properties for rent) stocks (dividends) bonds (interest) But, what is it with bitcoin? I hear a lot about it and I'd love to diversify my portfolio.
bitcoin does not pay any yield but will reward you with growth that you can't find in any other asset class
The key is diversification. Personally, I delegate my investing to an advisor, cos my job doesn't permit the time to perform market analysis myself. Thankfully, my once ago stagnant portfolio has now 5X in barely 4 years, summing up almost 7 figure as of today.

I've been asking that same question of concentration of BTC, and I think this answer is plausible...
He didn't actually answer it. He chose to talk about fixed cap vs infinite supply money instead, which has little to do with the original question. We are in a transition phase: the adoption of BTC/crypto. Wealth distribution is an important issue in crypto, because the asymmetry is gigantic. If BTC goes to 1M, BTC distribution will improve, but will likely be still very concentrated.
Another question is: once (and if) BTC gets fully adopted, and assuming the coins are well distributed (which will likely not be), would distribution improve over time, or at least not deteriorate? Of course, if you consume (food, energy, etc.), you will have to sell coins, but since BTC emission tends to zero, and assuming GDP grows, you will get naturally richer because there are more goods and services for the same amount of existing coins. The ideal coin emission would be attached to global GDP growth. We don't have such a crypto.
In short: he's wrong in saying that wealth concentration is not a gigantic issue in BTC; and he's wrong in saying that the fact that BTC cannot be printed is good for its distribution.

The wedge that's forming is a function of fiat currency. As time goes on, it will get harder to get onto the better side of it. Act accordingly, and remember to save some of your wealth to pass on to your children, so that they have a chance of making it too.

@@MrRem7600 Well I do know how to download the monero blockchain, get it synced with the most current transactions, setup my own personal wallet and then purchase monero with tools like haveno or do atomic swaps with tradeogre. You can look this shit up and do what ever it is you want with monero. A random person on the internet telling some one else randomly that they don't know something is ludicrous. Their policy is to be a currency not a security. I am fucking tired of people not putting in the effort to change themselves so that they can improve or be free. If you don't want it I will just have more for myself. You can sit in the dirt wondering why the government won't do x.

This guy gives off some major socialism vibes. At 3:30 min in he drops the “didn’t contribute any time or energy to the collective populace”. My father gave me a great head start with 10 acres of property and his home after he passed away, does that mean neither of us contributed to the “collective”along the way?? He was a factory worker for 35 years and worked himself to the bone to accumulate those assets. I’ve worked 50+ hours a week since I was 19 years old (in my mid 50’s now) to build upon his gift and add to it.
Just because someone has more than you doesn’t mean they haven’t worked for it. Kinda like when politicians scream “you have to pay your fair share” but can never tell you what that share is exactly.
I don't think Jack's arguing that wealth should be seized or redistributed, like under socialism/communism. He's merely saying that fiat money and cheap credit allows large asset holders to perpetually use their assets as collateral to obtain loans to acquire even more assets, and grow their wealth, without actually building companies or services for the general public.

He’s breaking down the consequences of not owning assets. That’s the benefit of owning real estate over the long term. As time goes on and governments print money, your wealth grows with the equity. Not “contributing” is referring to doing nothing to contribute to the money printing. You didn’t do anything for the property your grandpa passed on to rise with inflation. You owning that asset allows you to outpace inflation
He’s arguing that printing money is theft, is inflates asset values and makes life more unaffordable. Only those with assets can be protected somewhat. If you don’t have assets then it becomes ever more difficult to obtain assets. You’re stuck instead holding the currency that’s being debased.
you've misinterpreted what's being said here, but that's ok - it will take people time to understand the fundamental concept of what money actually is. Bitcoin has nothing to do with socialism - the only way you can obtain it is by working for it, buying it, or mining it. These all require proof of time or energy.

Crypto is at this point is not even close and I don’t believe will ever be used as money and or currency due to volatility. You can’t have a currency go both up 10 to 20 percent and down 10 to 20 percent in that same week and work as a currency. Even though you ended the week in maybe close to the same value, but the daily volatility makes daily transactions impossible. Crypto is now a trading echo system, in my opinion. I am not sure this is what the blockchain creators had in mind. At this point to me this is a live by the chart die by the chart asset. There is no utility outside the blockchain and no yield or dividend, just a price. It can go way up and way down. Great price action for traders, but for a simple guy like me too much stress. I wish I had bought and sold earlier, but just feel like I am to late in the game and you are not going to see these pie in the sky prices materialize.
uhhh a lot of currencies only lose purchasing power
It is the daily volatility that matters, yes over time many currencies lose value over extended periods of time, but they are able to function for daily transactions. If not companies won’t do business in those currencies, bitcoin is having daily moves both up and down by 3,4,5,6,7, and so on in a single day. No way that can work as far as being an actual functional alternative to the most used currencies.

I want yo buy a machine from China. i need it in six months time. i have enough money now. but it uses alot of copper, which is going up in price. i don't want to buy now as I'm not ready. So i put the money into bitcoin because in six months time i believe my money will still ll have enough value to buy my machine, even if copper doubles in price.
Save in Bitcoin until the value of your savings matches the cost of a new home. Over time both will be racing to meet each other at some point. Once you own your own home keep saving in Bitcoin. Always save in Bitcoin.
If they're both racing toward each other and the trend continues, then it's even wiser to not buy that house and just continue saving in bitcoin, as the house will be effectively "cheaper" next year, the one after that, etc.

@@bitcoinjesus420 compared to the rest of latin america yes, idk if more popular than USA but we have apps like muun wallet, satoshitango, lemon cash made here, but what happened is our fiat is so bad if you want to buy a house they dont accept it you must pay in us dollars, and even some rents, the usdt is pretty popular, but most of the people have their savings in us dollars nobody saves pesos. I use lemon that is a wallet that i can put pesos then buy DAI and BTC, and i use DAI to pay (the app automatically change it to pesos and gives you 2% cashback in bitcoin) this wallet gives you a visa card and thats how you use it, of course my savings i put them in a self custody wallet but i put my money i will use to pay things in lemon

I’ve never heard someone articulate that concept of needing to produce more than you consume in order to keep the same level of wealth on a bitcoin standard. So true and makes so much sense. There’s no “living off the interest” like the wealthy are able to do now in the fiat system. Granted, if you have enough BTC and assuming the price keeps going up forever, you’ll be selling off smaller and smaller chunks to sustain your lifestyle. But ultimately you’re still redistributing that wealth back into society if you’re not producing an equal or greater amount of value to society. I fuckin love Bitcoin.

3 buy btc with his business checks.

TA is good but I find it truly baffling that all major crypto youtubers just look at pure T.A and completely Ignore the bigger narrative of why BTC Is dumping and why the future outlook might not be as rosy as it seems. It's kinda irresponsible to ignore the fact that each ETF launch so far has caused a major dump at the peaks of BTC.. We were already on shaky footing with historically low volume and almost pure whale dumps, narrowly avoiding a long-term bear market. more emphasis should be put into day trading as It is less affected by the unpredictable nature of the Market.. What I keep wondering is: what is to keep those with the capacity to „print unlimited amounts of money“ to just keep printing and buy BTC with that fiat and thus over time own all of the BTC?
If you print fiat for free and you can buy BTC with that fiat, then „proof of work“ doesnt really apply to this buyer because he didn’t have to really work for the fiat he used to buy BTC with.

We're all being screwed by inflation right now and that is unlikely to ever change. That bitcoin worth a million in the future may only have the purchasing power of $50k in today's money, but if you bought it for, say, $25k's worth of today's money, you've still for all practical purposes doubled your money.
Those not putting some savings into Bitcoin will be screwed.

BTC is merely a store of value / wealth, NOT a ticket to making big gains. Invest 10k into BTC. When BTC reaches 150k you will have only made 16k. Same goes for ETH. Anyone looking to make huge gains in the coming bullrun needs to buy ALT coins and nothing else.
Get out of the short term mindset. Buy Bitcoin and hold for 10 to 20 years. No need to gamble with altcoins.
