Thanks for your video! Very clear insructions! And I love your clock! :)
There is a big difference between your way of doing this suspension and Derek Hansen's way of doing it. You are using a semi-circle, which corresponds the rectangular form of your hammock. All your cords are of the same length. That is perfect for your underquilt. Derek uses a rectangular frame to do his, so the outer cords are longer than the central ones. This corresponds a different cut of the hammock. If you built such a hammock with fabric only, you'd use a concave cut at both ends of the hammock: a hammock that is longer along the sides and shorter in the middle.
We made garden hammocks with clew suspension with teenagers last summer. They turned out great. We followed the system you are using in your video.

We used a similar construction on a wooden board to build the suspension for our Brazilian style garden hammocks. Great work. Keep it up!

Nice video as always. So much attention to detail. :) Btw the "thing you found in the shed" is a curtain hook.

I should have watched this video before putting my shock cord on mine. Now I need to go back and make these. That first hook you put the decender ring on is for hanging drapes on one of those metal rods with the plastic pieces tied to cords on one end to open and close the drapes. anyways it's called a "pin drapery hook". Growing up in the early 70's we had them on our drapes.

Great instructional video, but at the end, where you were lying in the hammock, there appear to be a lot of gaps for air infiltration. How did the u/q work in this configuration?

You can also just kam snap them on to your quilt. I tried that and it worked great. No sewing.

That hook/wire thing you use that you don't know what it is ... it's a curtain hook for drapes that use curtain tape.

Those hooks are drape/curtain hangers to attach to runners in a curtain rail... ;-)

Sander Tel I agree, I know them as curtain hooks. For heavy velvet drapes.
