I like how you welded the axles back together instead of damaging the wheels. I'll have to remember that one. Also I like the classic red and black color combo. Well done!
Thank you again for showing that craftsmanship is accomplished by the belief and demonstration that necessity is the mother of invention.....very fine work my friend!
@@RetroHax Hey, YW!! As I said, that was some GREAT JOB!!! Just stumbled on to yours, & other people's "Restoration and/or Repair" videos, only recently, and I'm VERY MUCH enjoying them!! I'm getting ready to move soon, from Washington to Texas, and after watching these videos, it's given me ideas of how to make a bit of much needed, "side money," once I get there!!!
Amazing video Martin. It’s makes a grown man cry to see a historical piece like this steam engine toy been lift to rust away. Now it has been restored back to its former glory it will live on thanks to a hero like you Martin
That looks beautiful, I often wonder when people restore something maybe someone who is dead who built it can see the pride and time and the fact someone else can appreciate and enjoy it, can't explain it just a feeling I have, I know I would love it if someone in the future enjoyed something I built or had the pride to look after and appreciate an item
It would have been wonderful if all of these old toys had stayed in good condition, but its great to know that there are people like you who can restore them to their original condition.
YOU ARE AN AMAZING PERSON. BEAUTIFUL WORK. You act as though you are so particular in everything you do. Really enjoyed watching your work. Hope to see more of your videos soon.
This takes me back at least 50 years I had a version of this train in the 60s and loved it wouldnt be surprised if may late father kept it somewhere I will have a look next time I visit.
Amazing job. I had one years ago. Brought back great memories. If I remember right it had a bell that hung from the bracket on the front of the cab. Looked better than new.
I have to admit Martin, I would have never tried to refurbish that thing. And I really like refurbishing old things like new again myself. But you made it look presentable again. Bravo sir, Bravo! Powder coating really does make such things look amazing.
Good Job on the restauration. And even though it was my first video of yours that i i´ve watched it changed everything for me. Now i found what i was looking for so long, the method to chrome parts from my 1960s motorbike. Thx alot!
Incredibly satisfying to watch. You must be feeling dead chuffed after such an amazing job! You're taking something that's dead and giving it it's life back! What could be more satisfying! KAN 6.19 UK

Tri-Ang certainly made some brilliant toys. Three I had as a kid, in the mid 1960's were a Ford Thames Trader petrol tanker, a Jones mobile crane - which worked in the correct manner, and, my favourite, the AEC Routemaster bus. I played with it all the time, and in winter, when it snowed, I'd turn it upside down and sledge down the garden path on it. My kid brother 'inherited' it, and he played with it, until it literally fell to bits from being run about, and with kids riding on it, ringing it's bell. Brilliant. Really, they don't make 'em like that any more.
I don't know why, but I get emotional when I see these old, battered toys brought back to life. I'm subscribing right now - and greetings to Rescue & Restore! You guys are great!!
When you first started taking the train apart I actually sat there and didn't move til the end....In the end I had to readjust my jaw it was kinda opened all that time.....it was in awe...Great job..gotta go now going to watch your next video....
OMG Martin. You do such marvelous work. Here's an idea for you, maybe in one of your Matchbox restoration's, if you've got one that's beyond it, maybe you could just powder coat it chrome. That would look really awesome. I think all your powder coating investment was probably the best thing you could have done. As we say here in the states, you are the man.
Dude, your restos are the most relaxing time I spend on YT. Seriously, the satisfaction of watching these is awesome!!! Just got done with the Tonka resto and now this one. Wow Buro, that's a disproportionately ragey response. Perhaps you could direct us to your channel where you can show us how it's done?

Discarded toys look so sad.. Good thing there are people fixing them.

Somewhere an old man just started smiling, not knowing you brought his childhood toy back to life. Well done, Martin!
Sandblasting has got to be the most satisfying thing ever. I'd honestly watch videos of the entire process. In real time, even. XD It looks great!
Doing it sucks
Ingenius repairs. Kids today can never think like this. They have no problem solving skills and don't want to learn
What an AWESOME RESTORATION!!!
I could see that some parts of that, weren't the easiest to disassemble and/or reassemble, either!!
GREAT WORK!!!

Thank you

It looks it's brand new. That was also pretty resourceful using a plastic lid as a new piece for the front. I never would have thought of that.
Using a rubber mallet as a dolly, ingenious!
I am enjoying the powder coating, comes out great every time.
Thanks bud
The train concourse sound effect is a nice touch. That was one tough restoration.
Nice to see some true craftsmanship. Keep up the good work
Bar the weld. Should of remade the bracket. Good work throw
This is so interesting but also relaxing to watch. The fact there is no annoying music overlayed or in the background is awesome too.
