Awesome video man! I definitely recommend keeping the algae on the glass with a shrimp tank. It grows a ton of biofilm and the babies will need that when they hatch. Keep on shrimpin!
@@Toydvoid9090 best is not to have shrimp with any fish. Betta usually attack them, but at the least the babies or smaller shrimp will be an easy food source for fish.
Nice. I've just setup a shrimp tank, now waiting for the shrink to arrive. Looks like I've done pretty similarly to you, bit of coral, almond leaf, live plants, crossed fingers.
Hey Nick. Greetings from the UK. I absolutely love your videos and binged watched them the last few weeks. :-) Keep up with the great work and content. I have gained a ton of knowledge from you. I used to breed plecos and bettas many years ago and coming back into the hobby. :-) can't wait for your next uploads. I've hit the notification bell and subscribed to your channel also. 🙂
I love watching your video , I just started with this fish keeping hobby and I found your videos very helpful, keep it up sir, and thanks for the tips. Anyway I am from Philippines
I’ve only had some shrimp since late November/ early December. I got them I got 6 for one tank (3 red, 3 black) sadly lost one (red) - those are in blackwater. I got four for the other tank blue ones- two of them turned green next minute I looked today and there’s baby blue shrimp all of my tank! I haven’t had them long enough, nor do I have enough shrimp for it to have supposedly worked, but there you go! The tank is pretty bad for getting full of algae because it’s got a very big strong powerful light for such a small tank. It’s not a nano tank but it is small, so I’ve been keeping the blue light setting on. I don’t know if that’s helping in anyway, but it certainly has helped it not get over run by algae, so I’m wondering if that’s created like peaceful conditions but also made it so the baby shrimp, especially since they are blue, have been able to hide easier. The fish and the micro crabs, as well as the adult shrimp seem to be totally leaving them alone, which is awesome!!
As a guy who works at a pet shop with a hidden corner shrimp tank, you learn to pick out the babies but it’ll take a couple days and a bit of pushing to figure out how many babies are sitting around. Another good estimation technique: for every baby you find, assume there’s at least three to five more.
Hey man I've been looking into starting a shrimp tank in a 8 Liter tank. I'm very new to this so i would really love your input and advice on the type of shrimp I should use, type of plants I should get and the type of nano fish can introduce into the tank with them? Thanks for your help!
I have a question, what fish can go with shrimp without them possibly eating them or other stuff like that? i've been looking for recommendations and i know nothing as im just a beginner and find the hobby interesting but also really hard.
Very small rasbora species like chili rasbora and exclamation point rasboras would be a good choice, but if you're trying to breed shrimps, it's good to have just a shrimp tank with no other fish. You should also introduce you're shrimp first to your set up so they can have some time to build a colony befor you get your fish, so if fish eat shrimps here and there, it won't affect the colony of shrimps.
Neon tetras, small rasbora, lamp eye, stuff like that you’re normally okay with. I’ve currently got baby shrimp in my tank purely accidental. Only had them like a month and only have four in there (as in adult shrimp) so I was pretty shocked. They also live with Thai micro crabs, they all just totally leave it alone which is cool. The advice of guppies? No! Please don’t do that, they eat shrimp like crazy despite the fact that they have a small mouth, so I can understand why people might think that would work, but it definitely doesn’t. I know enough people who learnt their lesson hard with that one! I also wouldn’t do mollies either. I have a similar set up with similar fish, but that’s black Water & the shrimp have not been breeding in that one, but I’m sort of glad the hatchet rasbora are pretty boisterous and I also think the glowlights are in there might have a go at any mini shrimp because they are a little bit bigger then the rest of the small fish I have in either of the tanks with shrimp in.
I like your simple setup. A proper breeding tank shouldn't have much stuff in it. No soil means no waste build ups and no hard scape means nothing leacks into the water and change your pH, gh or kh. Even simple rock can slowly change your water parameters and shrimps like stable water parameters.
I just bought some rili shrimp last week, and it looks like one of them is already carrying some eggs. I didn't pay attention when first introducing them into the tank, so no idea if she came like that or just got busy right away! I wasn't specifically looking to breed shrimp, so the tank isn't set up for that purpose, but I'll definitely take more if they come along :)
Love the fact that there is an Aussie aquarium channel around RUclips. I am looking forward to many videos, and also would be happy to visit one day bro keep it up

I may try and breed shrimp also ( i also got a decent size spawn from my plecos abt 50=70 eggs useing your tips they worked great keep up the great work! 😀
I stocked my 7 gallon with 6 red and 6 blue velvet on March 18th. April 20th I had two of each berried, meaning pregnant. I just did a head count and Im up to too many too count XD Literally over 100 without a doubt maybe 200, Im moving the best looking to a larger tank this weekend but its so easy to breed these little cuties you should definitely try it
Hi! I have some Red shrimp. Think it is Fire red. Not the normal cherry Red that you see. Is it possible if I do not get these anymore. And I get another kind of Red shrimp that they will stay Red when the breed.
I’ve been experimenting with shrimp too lately. I put some in my automatically water changed tanks, my well water is 8, with a hardness of 3-400. My neocaridinas (those ones are my yellow and black colonies) are still breeding though!
Would you be able to breed neocaridina like blue dream shrimp with caridinas like crystal shrimp not trying to breed the different species together but would the water perameters be close enough for them to breed?
In Hawaii we used to have a lot of these baby shrimp which we called “opae”. It’s about 3 times the size of these shrimp and we use them for fishing. They are the best bait in my opinion for small fish, but now they are hard to find. Do you have or know of any species which I could raise on my own?
Try to contact local wildlife department, if you are interested in breeding and the local population isnt doing well, maybe a breeding program could be an option
ah man. "nice to see" anothers have problem with that moss with hair alge. i have too mutch from them in this hotter times. Can we deal with it without hit the srimps or stay with toothbrush? :p
I've finally got my first taste of hydra, in my Betta fry tank. Anyone have suggestions to remove them without hurting my fry? I've used snails and it's since gotten worse. I will just tear down and clean it if necessary but I have a sponge filter that's cycled and not really looking to switch it out. I can and will if needed though. Thanks in advance for any helpful tips
Start from the first once again, soak everything in bleach water and wash it well with lots of water before placing everything inside the tank (as bleach may kill fishes), if you find this as a risky job thn u can hand remove all the hydra if possible My guppy tank is having hydra in the plants, but I let it be since I heard guppy may eat hydra, i didn't see any rise in hydra population too, so it wasn't a problem for me
You should search up using dog dewormer to treat hydra, I have dosed it in my tank with cherry shrimp to kill hydra/planaria and worked wonders. But do a lot of research before trying it!
every time my shrimp keeing interest fades away a little, youtube just recommend more shrimp keeping videos...now i gotta spend more money to restart my hobby
Im having a weird experience with my snowball. When i added it it was exploring the tank. 2hrs ltr. It was struggling and looked like it was about to die. Swimming and falling on it back. Staying motionless. I thought i would let it completely pass before removing it as not to shock or injure it. 3hrs ltr i checked again and it was fine. Moving around the tank. However it was not pecking at stuff like eating. She does move but just not eating. Shell go to the back of the plants and just stay still. Then go to the front. Swim a lil. Then go hide again. Ph 7.5, Kh 40ppm. Gh 120ppm. Ammonia 0. Nitrite 0. Nitrate 0. Same parameters as i first had neos 3months ago. Those guys did fine. They all died to a ammonia spike as my fish food spilled into the tank while i was away. But they were doing fine. Molting, berried. Its just this snowball. I dripped acclimated her for 1h15mins before adding
I’m breeding blue dream. Q: two females gave birth from the same mate. Should I worry about inbreeding since all new shrimp have the same father. Should I go get another male?
Why add the almond leaf if you already have low hardness in your water? I put 5in terracotta plant pot on it's side in the tank. The texture allows plenty of biofilm, the material is inert, and it can act as a hide if needed. I currently have a single species tank, but I like the pot anyway.
It's as shrimple as that
xdd
Shrimp will probably my first breeding project....thanks to you!
I’m thinking of adding a shrimp tank in my craft room. Thanks again for another great video with all your knowledge and advice. Have a great day 🙂

What's a shrink
Shrimp are pain in ass for me they always disappear no clue how or they die and they eat eachother

400 blue shrimp please 🍤

Me too! Haha
I love the granite texture on your tank. It has more character than a plain black tank. Looks unique!
Did you do you any water changes in those 30 days?
I'd like to know this too.

Try mollies or guppies, you may also try platies, they're all cool & chillin' with my shrimp in my tank, safe.
Just Create a lots of habitat rocks, plant beds, etc for them to hide. Some will get eaten but will breed enough to still multiply in the tank.
