In my area, it is basically impossible to sell caridinas so "for profit" is neos. I do keep wanting to get an RO system to keep PRLs though. I love the stark colours on them.

Like one tank with co2, one tank without co2, one tank with co2 but only for 6 hours at a time to simulate planted tanks on a solenoid. start with 5-8 shrimp Then, count up how many there are after 60-90 days there’s quite a bit of conflicting info out there (believe me i have scoured just about every forum and reddit post out there about this) but no one has ever done a definitive test! just an idea for a video! either way love the contnet
I tried CO2 twice in my tanks with the shrimp and from what I learned it's better not to dose it at all if you want to breed shrimp. For the display tank is ok.

A few questions, how many gallons are your tanks? What bacterial powder do you use to grow the bacteria/how many hour of light to give the tank? And where can I get that breeding box 😂 keep up the great work love your videos!
Love this video. What was the average temp in the 2 aquariums. I totally agree that pure red lines are quite easy to breed compared to other caridina shrimp. Totally recommended for beginner caridina shrimp keepers. Can't wait to see the update video on the blue dreams. Great video!!
Why do you sometimes use filter material for the filter box and sometimes you just use soil. Please help me understand how you decide on the filter media in the box.
Seems like he uses normal media with the neocaridina's and the pH lowering soil with caridina's. For neocaridina's tapwater might already have good hardness and pH for them or you use RO water with minerals (GH and KH) and pH will naturally stay stable from the minerals. For caridina you need harder to achieve parameters and that's where the soil comes in. Even though most people use RO with minerals (GH but no KH) the soil helps keep a stable but low pH and will adsorb any left over KH. Too much kH will make it harder if not impossible to get a low pH.

You need to ask your friend or relative to feed your shrimp and do water change. That's what I did last time. But I lost one tank of shrimp because of overfeeding so I think maybe better to do nothing I guess
I wonder if the caridinas stopped breeding because they could somehow "sense" that they were related, since it's an enclosed environment. maybe they have some kind of instinct to seek mates from different colonies of shrimp.

I think the blue dreams are very, very good at breeding! I mean, about a month ago I bought 20 from a small breeder at an aquarium fair and some already came in berried. Now the tank is teeming with tiny shrimp! I also got red ones from my lfs and they haven't bred yet. I hope to see that breeder again at a fair in March and get some red ones. I think I want to do like four colours like the four elements in Avatar. Red cherries: Fire Nation, Blue dreams: Water Tribes, Green: Earth Kingdom and Orange: Air Nomads.
The shrimps like a lottery a lot depends on the source. Sometimes it can be a very poor genetic or shrimp came from poor condition. Two exactly same tanks can developed very deferent way and it can be in good or bad way...that's my experience

I need help with my blue dreams they dont wana bread i can see some babies but when the female is full of eggs only 1 or 5 hatch and survive. im making 30% waterchane every 2 weeks. i have lots of moss and flowers, but i have long hairy alge on the moss so that is kind a ugly. can you help ?
It' hard to say what is the problem it could be 100 of reasons, I have problematic tanks as well and I can't find what is the problem. Hair algae is not good I know. I would do a massive water change first see if it helps. If not just reset the tank
Got a 30l tank with PRL. If too many, they stop breeding. So every couple months I sell some groups, which evens out with what I spend on the tanks :-) Here they go for about €2,50 each. Wish my orange eye blue tigers would breed like my PRL though!

As you note, shrimp grow slower when over populated as they release pheromones into the water regarding growth basically suggesting to stop growing, of course this can be solved with huge water changes but definitely seem to hit a brick wall
really cool video i bought 10 tiger red white shrimps never seen one baby in 2 months.. must be something wrong., or not enough shrimps.... getting a green wall is not for me aswell bought expensive powder Shrimps Affair but still doesn't do anything.

Yeah they bred a lot in that tank for the first 4 months then they slowed down a bit

Same, aquariums are a luxury here so everyone just buys and sells neos. Caridina shrimps are too expensive and finicky for general fish keepers.

100 low grade neo is only $1.5 here in my country lollll

For me it's easier as long as you manage to keep the right water parameters for them they breed even better than cherry shrimp

Dont change water too often, unless you also got fish in the tank.
Dont overfeed, and ensure to feed with baby shrimp powder.

I'm using dead shrimp powder from Tai Cheng. It works best for growing green walls. It's available in my eBay shop (link in description)
