This track says a lot. It's slow, dreary and almost bleak. When you hear it whilst in Lemoyne you can really see the bent and broken character of the South. A wounded pride perhaps. Dust settling after a terrible conflict. I think this is the game's most spirited track.
Yes, it's incredible how this soundtrack sells the "post Civil War South" atmosphere ! There's such a melancholy to it but also a darkness, the blood feud between the Grays and the Braithwaites. My personal favourite soundtrack of the game.
My comment here is copied and pasted from my reply to another comment in this thread but i thought I’d share it here too, I completely agree. It really gives a sense of the history in Lemoyne and especially Scarlett Meadows. The entire area was a hot spot in the civil war as evident by the huge battlefield left in the center there, and tensions still run high between the Braithewaits and Grays, the presence of small slave trading cells, but mostly the Lemoyne Raiders. I feel like this theme portrays the sad and tragic past of Lemoyne but also shows how it’s a peaceful and beautiful environment that has managed to heal and attract wealth and happiness to its core towns like Rhodes and Saint Denis
I'm tempted to say that Scarlett Meadows is my favorite place in the game. Or at least at a tie with the bayou... and the lakes in Ambarino... and the Heartlands... omg every place is beautiful.
Honestly I can never decide where my favorite place is. I love the sense of nostalgia in the snowy grizzlies with the abandoned wooden mining settlements which really captures the spirit of those times, I love the bluebell fields of Big Valley just south of the mountains, I love Cumberland forest for capturing an environment so well known in America, I love Calumet ravine for its unique red rock and crystal blue waters, I love the entire Dakota river with its white cliffs and gravel banks, I love the white mountains in the heartlands, the eery peacefulness in Roanoke Ridge, the novelty of the bayou, the sadness of Scarlett Meadows, the warm welcoming vibes in Tall Trees, the childhood memories evoked by the sunshine in Great Plains, and the classic western feel in New Austin and Mexico. This game is f*cking gorgeous in every way possible

I remember hearing this after an ambush by lemoyne raiders and after a long gun fight and looting aftarwards as i rode off hearing 1:04 that low bass playing, feeling like a badass with my spoils riding off into the sunset.
gmaster634 Yeah, the bass in this track really caught me off guard. It also fits the creepy atmosphere of Lemoyne quite well. That area has some of the best pieces of music in the entire game imo.
Zach Richards agreed. Spoiler........... The feels riding into the Braithwaite manor to find jack was insane and the after math of watching the manor burn was orgasmic in all honesty lmao
One of the most beautiful pieces of ambience, including cinematic pieces from movies It's slow , painful , powerfully melancholic - like running a finger across the scars of the south.....
I think I heard this right after that mission with Sean when you burn the tobacco fields. It was night, dark as hell with a dense and sketchy fog. One of the most beautiful musical moments I experienced on the game.
I really like this track but I think it’s quite depressing, especially if you’re playing the game again and you know Arthur’s fate and the gang spiralling downwards and fading away .
completely agree it’s so dismal ... makes me wanna cry knowing what’s to come later on in the game. sean’s death is what sealed it for me i was so depressed after that and was left wondering who was next 😔
monkeysee110 yeah. The bass at the begging of the track is very powerful. I always get this track playing whenever I ride out of the camo with the sunrise coming through the trees. Powerful indeed
I remember around chapter 3 of my first playthrough, for a while, the menu was a wrecked carriage out in the pouring rain, with this theme playing. It seemed very poetic. Foreshadowing of what was to come of the gang.
Imo it's West Elizabeth, Big Valley especially the area where Hanging Dog Ranch is located? It's so beautiful, all the deer and horses grazing, the occasional grizzly bear drinking and catching fish from the stream and mountain lions pouncing on the wildlife... majestic af.
It's a bit melancholic... But still, very, very peaceful. Like a mysterious, yet sunny and quiet afternoon. Which is the feeling this area of the map gives me.
Hey, thanks for taking the time for throwing this on youtube. If you're taking requests, I've got a few. I'm looking for a few tracks from the epilogue, mainly those with the Red Dead Redemption 1 theme motif, like the shootout with the Lamery outlaws near Pronghorn ranch. I'm also interested in the track that plays when you encounter the Chelonians, talking Mary's brother down from the cult at the cliff. Regardless, many thanks for your efforts.
This track is for me the deepest and darkest soundtrack of them all, it shows us the backstory of the south during the civil war and the slavery and other fucked up shit like Aberdeen Farm. It gives me a sad and deep image in my head of someone that has been raised in an abusive family and then u as arthur discovers this years later and this music plays: 01:14
0:35 I don't know why I like the most the part where the lower violin plays; It makes it sound alot more dramatic and eerie giving it a good ambiance, specially when it's afternoon in game
"Went to Scarlett Meadows, site of the famous battle in the war. All them young lives lost." - Arthur Morgan. ,,Found the old battlefield from the war. Place made me real sad. All them young men dead, and all us idiots left alive." - John Marston.
Victor The full day and night versions of this are on my to-do list. The night version has an issue where it fades in and out suddenly, but it almost seems deliberate. I'm not sure what to do about that yet.
Hi Zach! Thanks for the reply and for recording this! I'm working on my own version as I type by streaming to RUclips with only in-game music turned on. I might be able to rip the audio from the RUclips video. Hopefully turning down the in-game sound effects also turns it down in the stream. I didn't know the night version was different. Interesting, I'll check it out. How did you record this by the way? It sounds pretty clean.
Victor Just turned down dialogue + sound volume in the options menu in-game. I then used the xbox capture feature to record it (up to 10 mins). I think it only records in 720p though, so it definitely loses some quality. I wish I had a capture card, it would make the whole process easier, and probably improve the audio a bit. One method that I use is holding down the weapon/item wheel button, so it slows down time in-game while the music plays. this helps reduce the chance of interruptions by NPC's or dynamic events that might cause the music to fade out. And yes, from what I've found, almost all dynamic/ambient tracks have day and night variations ;)
I wish we could rip the music right from the discs :) but for now this will do. I managed to trigger the theme from the start but ran into some Lemoyne Raiders :( Finding a nice quiet stretch of road and holding down the weapon wheel seems like the way to go. Is it just me, or does the ambient music sometimes cue, but not play from the start of the song? I did a save/exit/start game jumped on my horse, it cued a different song, then while still riding it cued Scarlett Meadows but not from the start (or at least what I think is not the start) of Scarlett Meadows. I just want a clean version of Scarlett Meadows from start to finish :)
Would you be able to upload the Wanted Theme 3, but the parts that play when you've just been caught by a witness or have escaped from the law? The other day I was riding around and only the xylophone and organ (organ) were playing, and it was so good...

This fits so well with Lemoynes atmosphere of the "Around every corner, there is the chance of a plantation house, occupied or abandoned."
One of the most beautiful pieces of ambience, including cinematic pieces from movies

Thank you Zach, best ambient theme in the game. I often spend some time between the Heartland and Scarlett Meadows just to trigger this chilling tune.
I think I heard this right after that mission with Sean when you burn the tobacco fields. It was night, dark as hell with a dense and sketchy fog. One of the most beautiful musical moments I experienced on the game.
Jesus Loves You
This music has such a “quiet sunny afternoon in the south” vibe to it. How do people make music this perfect?
I get the " it's dark the atmosphere is bleak and the people werry

CIA and that's why it's so beautiful .... The impending sense of the doom . Avoiding the inevitable ...
dylan ameziane and you feel it more after your first play through, the gangs fate is sealed. Very powerful music.

The fact that there are no dislikes to this video speaks miles of this masterpiece
you fucked it up
the chord that forms at the beginning of the piece is so powerful...
0:09 my testosterone increases by 100% riding into the sunset and hearing this in the background. No hurry, no minimap, just enjoying the meadows.
It's so good
Easily my favorite part of the map. And it's a tie with northeastern Ambarino
Yeah same man it's such a rich chord
The chillest track for the one of chillest areas in the game. I can listen to this for hours.
YES. Been searching for this. #1 track in the game

This set the tone.
This game is a fucking tragedy. Arthur...John...Dutch...
Sean, Lenny, Hosea, Molly, Susan, Strauss... everyone...
Micah, Milton, Cornwall, O'Driscoll, Strauss, and Bronte
It's a bit melancholic... But still, very, very peaceful. Like a mysterious, yet sunny and quiet afternoon. Which is the feeling this area of the map gives me.
this theme feels so much like the last of us, the beauty of it, idk it just feels so amazing
After Ellie Kills Nora.
Strong theme
I love this game so much, i will never forget it
That area between clemens point with that grain house/barn thing on the way to Rhodes is so beautiful it's like a Richard Scarry book

At around 0:50 is it just me hearing something like gunshots fired ,maybe from the 1860’s civil war in Scarlett meadows?
