Its crazy how the mission itself feels pretty pointless when you play it first however once the music kicks in you get this eerie feeling like something big happened. Incredible story telling.
then Arthur wiped Thomas' blood of his lip
@@notasquid1299I didn’t pick up on it that quick and then suddenly I’m like ooooohhhhh shit
When I came back to camp, I noticed vultures flying in the air near Strauss...
Wait, seriously?
Just redid this mission and yeah, there are vultures flying above Strauss and dark clouds forming over the camp
Foreshadowing!!!!!!
this game is truly a masterpiece
Yep and in the prologue before Micah walks out of the cabin a rat runs by. Rockstar used alot of symbolism in this game much like with Arthur's dream of a buck for high honor and a wolf for low honor. Another example is the blue jay that is present when John is building his ranch house and the immediate next mission starts with uncle saying the line to John "do you believe in reincarnation?". They didn't need to go this deep but they did, and I'm very happy.
1:59 I always found this part haunting. I think it was the songs way to tell you Arthur was a dead man walking.
Uuuuufff! One of the best interpretations ever.
@@edmondvalmont1546
Thank you! It was so creepy and unsettling.
Seriously it makes you think amazing
Actually, as a European I felt this whole scene was a metaphor reflecting on the history of the United States in general. The twisted morality within Arthur his developing spirit, how all choices revolve around money. When he is riding back you see the different types landscapes changing from Colorado to Oklahoma to Louisiana. I'm pretty sure this is what this cinematography and dramaturgy tries to tell, because it is the main theme of RDR-games
Agreed. It’s always when that specific string piece kicks in that I really get the message.
"You can't live bad life especting good things will happen to you"
Arthur Morgan
Aint that a truth.
ouch..
That isn’t always true. Bin Laden survived another ten years after causing 9/11
“You ever wonder about eternity?”
“I hope it’s hot and terrible Mrs. Downes, otherwise I’ll feel like I’ve been dealt a false bill of goods...”
“Now please, get me that moneh.”
@@lovesuka114 "thank you for your punctuality. It's next to godliness isn't it? That's cleanliness."
@@Lonky6732 “I’ll have to take your word for it. Good day.”
“Saying random quotes to get likes.”
Either you've got a lazy eye or a lack of respect, which is it boy?
I’m playing this part in the game right now.. I had to find the music because I’m so moved by how well it goes with the situation.
that how you get your game spoiled
@@MrTimurLP that's how I got it spoiled when it released haha... but even though I knew it, it still hurt a lot... it still hurts even...
Wow i replayed the story 6 times and got 100% completion and don’t what scene has this music can you please tell me?
@@1.z7ii the ride to Downes farm
@@1.z7ii the same mission when you rob a bank in Valentine in chapter 3 then you go to downes ranch to collect debt
It wasnt tommy the tough guy at valentine saloon
It wasnt any other tough guy or any tough gang
It was little weak and sick thomas who got arthur
He didnt even fight back like any useless NPC
It really learnt me to take care about choices in real life
This could be in the Strange Man shack on a table or the wall like the Jim Brooks poem.
This song gives the feeling of knowing you made a bad decision or really questioning your choices but still going through with it, knowing deep down what you're doing is wrong and now you must live with such a heavy question "what have I done?" Anyone feel this way?
I had a girl, we loved each other but her family was not too supportive about her having a relationship, they didn't even know it. After some time, her father noticed about our relationship and made her cut all her connections with me. I've ruined her relationship with her family, they will not trust her anymore, and we knew it would end like this but we still did it. This song just makes me feel what you wrote. It's been years and I cannot forget her. The right person in the wrong time. Even after all these years I could not find or love another person like her. Hope you're doing okay somewhere out there my love. You're one of the best and you deserve much better times.
It made me feel about Arthur and how he feels considering the talks he has it really makes you think it’s incredible
@@sakaykmehmet4833 I don’t think any of what you did is a mistake man. Don’t worry about it. Assholes will be assholes.
And so, the life of Arthur Morgan started to fade away...
😭😭
In a way that's when Arthur got down on his path of discovering his true self. A blessing in disguise.
That violin piece.. Jesus.
Worst part is, during the train cutscene, I had a second horse who went with me in every mission trotting along behind me and in the cutscene I watched her get smoked my the train, and this music played as I saw her corpse 😭😭 all this game ever makes me do is cry. I couldn't even undo the save file either....
@@Abs0lut3Cyner as funny as that is to imagine it sounds lowkey gutwrenching to watch lmao
This was the moment the game was saved for me. Up until then, I really didn't understand why everyone was so nuts about it. I remember riding and thinking that movies often have a worse soundtrack than this masterpiece.
As soon as I heard this music and the way it builded up i knew it will have big consequences but i did not expected THIS
The way he was touching on his face too, ominous. Points to the developers also for putting such a hidden nod so early in the game that doesn't pan out into much further later
I like to think of this as being Arthur's theme
walking up to that house second time through is somber af
When this played....I felt something dark and sinister awoke in the game..being watched, judged and marked.
Depression theme
Replaying this mission made me go through the 5 stages of grief in the span of 2 minutes
I remember riding back from Downes Ranch after this mission the first time I played. I instantly knew something really really terrible happened and I had such a horrible gut feeling. Listening again, absolutely love this piece of music but I'd be lying if it didn't make me feel sick, like deep down in the pit of my stomach. Amazing
This song I would say is my favorite song from rdr2 and I would say this is the most underrated song on the game as well I hope this gets more recognition in the future.
0:50, 1:03, 1:15 and 1:59 these parts really makes you think about what you did
Fuck man violins are so good
The beginning of arthurs redemption...
I'd hardly call it that. He literally threatened to kill the kid. His redemption didn't really start until Chapter 6 after he already realized he was infected.
@@guyfarting2060 that was nothing more than intimidation, Arthur would never kill a kid and leave a woman widow. His journal reflects his thoughts and he hates jobs like this
His realization began with his diagnose. He started his redemption by saving Captain Monroe imo. From that point shit got intense...
@@koalafan6114 that statement might be influenced by your choices in the game. IMO Arthur was always the good guy in a bad profession. Doubly so, if you ever read his journal from end to end
When I heard this while seeing Arthur ride his horse back to camp, I knew something was wrong. Absolute Goosebumps.
This game is more than that a action game. This is a inner journey about arthur morgan. This is a masterpiece nothing more.
had to pause the game when i heard this masterpiece
damn you strauss
Redoing this mission after having finished the game once feels like a knife to the heart... you keep trying to avoid it, but the game forces you to do it, there's a point where Dutch and Strauss push you to do it and you can't do anything else until you visit Downes... in the cutscene of the ride back to camp, with this song playing, I started breathing heavier, I could feel this giant weight coming down on my shoulders, and felt creepy chills all over my body, my heart was pounding, my hands were shaking and I wanted to get away... this game hits like a fucking truck
Dude I've spent literally months just exploring and getting everything done when most unlocks in chapter 2...I really don't want the story to end lol
Yeah, I remember it was when you had to visit Mr Downes for the first time. I did everything in my power to avoid that mission like the plague (literally), until at camp I got locked into it with a cutscene from Strauss, and it forced me to go straight there
I never forgave him for that, and every time I see him around camp I antagonize him
_"Good morning, Herr Morgan."_
- *_"You revolt me!"_*
Mutual feelings. Just finished this mission after finishing the game once just like you. Rode my horse to their house slowly because I knew what was gonna happen. I was feeling so damn sad. I don't understand how a game makes you feel terrible like that.
That said, is the game even better on the second play through, with the knowledge of the consequences of your actions? I didn't find it too emotional the first time and I feel like I did something wrong
bro i know that feeling thats sucks
If you can relate to this song you did really something bad
This definitely deserves more views
Best track in the game in my opinion.
1:17 It's so heartbreaking, painful and sad. This game's story kinda tells you'll eventually get what you did. And Arthur got exactly what he did from Micah :(
This track resonates through my body, through my soul even. It automatically fills my heart with a deep sorrow, and makes me reflect on my life before it’s too late, just like it was for Arthur. Anyway thanks for the upload my friend
Here. Listen to it again my friend.
cringe as hell holy shit
I'm gonna have chills for the next 3 months hearing this track
His breath got shorter over time, but his loyalty was never stomped on.
i allways like to think that arthur didnt redem just because he knew h'ell die soon but because he is a good men from the begining
This is such a beautiful music! I was really enjoying it, when i played this game
when you start liking a lawman you greeted but you get in a shootout with the law and you see that lawman
this track sounds so sad
Timur1999 of course, because this part of the mission is where Arthur’s fate is foreshadowed that he will die due to his actions.
Just now getting through the story, thanks so much for posting these....I cannot wait for the soundtrack to come out

This music is so great, thanks for uploading.
Thank so much for visit Daniel
just spent a good 15 minutes looking for this song…it is so…gorgeous and solemn……..
I feel like this theme signifies Arthur’s honor and guilt that he holds. And Arthur beating Thomas seals his fate for the rest of the game. Could Thomas downes death have been plotted by the strange man similar to how he could have created Jimmy brooks in order to test Arthur’s Honor. Maybe
1:56
Only in RDR2 what can a have a moment like this in gaming.
Sound like a theme straight outta bioshock
Agreed. Very similar to 'Pairbond'. Cellos and violins are really something when it comes to giving a person goosebumps.
Faram H exactly, the ending of bioshock 2 broke the living heart out of me cause like in the end after trying so hard delta still died but if you do get the good ending or the bad neutral ending he lives on in eleanors conscious. Choices vary.
Oh, Arthur...
I enjoyed listening to this while playing this game make u feel like a bad person
This soundtrack to me is basically the game's way of saying you made a REALLY bad choice that will take you down hill....lol
Was walking at night and needed a nice slow song for the mood. 🖤
This goes hard I can’t lie

Obviously game tells you something is wrong and something bad happened after from the downes ranchway to the way camp. But no one noticed it.
I love this game. So fucking much….
So glad I found this thankyou!
But I think I'm most glad i took my time playing this game...still only at chapter 2 lol
*Feel so good, thanks for the music !*
Does anyone know who composed this? It gives me “Max Richter - On the Nature of Daylight” vibes.
Yeah I feel that, especially at the violin bit at 1:59. Woody Jackson in the main composer credited, but a variety of artists were involved.
"You had a choice"
I was forced ma'am!
Man this is the perfect soundtrack once finishing the game. It's so eerie, Arthur's fate has been sealed and he can't go back and change this moment.
When you ride back to camp there a big dark clouds and vaulters flying near strauss and everybody looking at the cliffs?
I wish to god this song was on Spotify
Be the change you want to see
me too
Got an assassination of Jesse James vibe when I heard this in the game
Yes exactly! Also, Not only the music, but the first train robbery in game is so similar to the train robbery in the movie 😍😍
Brooks Was Here i agree! Also, so was red. ;)
Game of the century, and games haven't been around a century.
Go to Limpany whit this theme... Red Dead Depression
This is absolutely beautiful.
I think we all tried to avoid going down to the downes family after we finished the game once and it hits so hard the fate is decided at the moment u try to collect that dept money...
The name of the mission also tells a lot. Sodom and Gomorrah were two legendary biblical cities destroyed by God for their wickedness. As we can presence throughout the story and especially on the Downes Ranch mission, Arthur's sins of killing and assaulting people would be later punished by God as he develops a terminal illness. In the end, he will find his good side and he’ll complete his act of redemption, even though is already too late.
This game is truly fascinating.
first time you go and beat up mr.downes then when returning to camp this song kicks in and it shows you arthur from distance riding and wiping off what downes spat on his face, which then caused him to catch tuberculosis. a brilliantly constructed cutscene, makes you question if you're actually playing the good or the bad guy and who tf really is arthur morgan. a very important introspective moment to put into perspective our hero arthur and his path to redemption. this game is beyond just a game in so many ways...
"Where's my money?"
Arthur's sins...
What instruments are used ? Viola and cello ? I try to learn play it on violin but can't
harp, prob bass for the part near the end and in the first version a guitar i'm guessing electric or bass, not sure
and the cello plays that continuous note.
Just amazing😢💔
isnt this also the music which starts when you do something bad in Chapter 2? i think that i once freeroamed around Valentine and killed someone just for sakes of it and version of this song started to play in background. it was first time i heard it in my 3rd replay of the game. gave me chills and bad feeling and i always wanted to get it back, but never could replicate scenario nor did i remember exact moment or deed i made.
Very nice

Thomas Downes or Leopold Strauss is the real villain of RDR2.
thomas was just a debtor, strauss is the real villain imo for sending arthur to beat a poor, sick man like him to death
How can be Thomas Downes a real villain of RDR2? Just because he had TB and Arthur got infected thanks to his choice to beat the crap out of the already dying man just to sent a message to him and his family doesnt make him a villain.
Yeah, it's not Micah or Dutchs ongoing insanity, it's not Milton or his Pinkertons, it's not civilization ending the wild west as a whole...the REAL villain was Thomas Downes 🤡
Go touch some grass, kid.

If depression had a theme song this would be it.
Spotify rockstar????
Can someone extend the violins at 5:00 so it’s longer
I'm in the middle of Chapter III. Game is usually "digest everything slow" most of the time. Everything you plan goes wrong way (sometimes funny too) and its mostly light. You do something funny and you think thats how we did it all the time so we will keep on being the same people but the world arround you is changes. And the past catches up with you. Cinematography during Leviticus Cornwall coming to pay dutch a visit. Weather changes when you come back to camp after beating Downes and the way Strauss was sitting looking to sky. It was like game is telling me "Remember that Boah" I was sitting still ... getting my bone chilled and sweating like I done those things and it will catch up with me sooner or later. Last game that made me feel that bad was TLOU
I didn't think anything could top Tlous part 1 honestly. Played this game and was honestly amazed by the storytelling.
Hearing this for the first time made me feel off for some reason. We just went into a farm a sick man was working at, beat him and get nothing out of it, then left suddenly when this song kicked in, it happened so quick that I stopped to just think "Wait why do I feel like this was something bad that'll change the game?"
Then diagnosis came later on for Arthur :(
1:58
This music is just foreshadowing, the game hinting at the end, in plain sight.
Im really upset this song makes me think of life and i dont now what to do
