Hi I purchased a 60’x20’ Hightunnel kit from Growers Solutions. I’m 60 yrs old, and my husband is disabled, so I built most of it by myself. It took 2 years. I’m not in the best of health, so I could only work for small amounts of time, and the heat of summers, rain storms, falling off ladders and recouperating, back issues, and a Myriad of other issues made the process long! Late this past spring I finished it! Then I put together 13 very large corrugated metal raised beds for inside the greenhouse. I’m happy to say I’ll be picking tomatoes soon! One frustration I had was that the instructions are vague is some places. And the living traditions instructional video seemed to gloss over some key areas, leaving me to just “wing it”.
I picked mines up about 2 weeks ago. The freight charges was going to be about $550. 🤯 I was 2hrs away so I Picked it up myself. I found you looking for a video prior to putting mines up 16×16 Thanks for your honest feedback.
I'm here because I built a small ten by twelve pvc green house. And v p v c interacts with the plastic and deteriorates, it super fast. Metal is the way to go I ordered myself this kit and i'm putting it in a concrete footing.
This is exactly the size I will need too. Thanks for this video, and your review on this product. Yea, I know, cheap to build it from pallets, but hey, at least I know what to look for in a solid greenhouse that is going to last a very long time. And since I don't need to guess at the plastic cover or shade cloth, or door hanging, etc, the customer service is there to help right? So its stupid proofed! Yea, I know, I am alone on making it happen, but at least I can gain some insight on how to make it work while alone.
Almost purchased one of these from GS 2 years ago but the things you mentioned kept me from doing it. While they were helpful with most of my questions, it still seemed a bit risky as I wanted it for a school. Thanks for this.
Just finished building a 20 by 40 high sidewalk kit, and it was great. All bumps in the process were self induced. Totally agree on the door and lumber suggestion. Also, framing in the door with so little material to work with was a challenge. The inch piping didn’t leave a lot of room to work with. But even with the knowledge I gained, I think I’d do another kit over using materials from a box store. These things are sturdy, and pvc seems like it may not be as reliable.
I am getting ready to order a 20x24 kit from grower solutions. This will be my 3rd greenhouse. The other 2 were made with PVC. In our experience, PVC does NOT hold up in high wind situations (frequent 30 mph, up to 50mph gusts) and our farm is very windy. Even with extra supports and bracing we constantly fought PVC snapping due to wind pressure. Last one was finally taken out by a tornado (I know nothing will hold up to a tornado!) Joys of a hilltop farm in SW Missouri; but we do love it here! I am hoping this kit will be more enjoyable, and less problems than the PVC route.
A real good video about a green house kit. Nice job on including the plus and minus you found. I also appreciated your honest opinion about the cost including the door kit.
The poly can last more than four years, but 4 years of pine pollen and fungal growth really cuts down on how much light comes through. From experience :( I advise to over build; lots of diagonals and purlins. One heavy wind can bend every tube in the structure...then it's too late. Also advise to put a lot into the end walls, with vents that pull open or shut via a couple of cords. If you place your purlins relative to the beds/tables you've got yourself some great trellises. We went with a $70 tube bender from Johnny's and top rail chain-link tubing for our 20' wide hoop houses. The end walls were of 2x4s, purlins of 1 inch metal electric conduit and more top rail tubing. I don't think it can get much cheaper than that. After 6 years, no complaints.
Would you suggest adding the greenhouse role up sides? This will be my first greenhouse as well so I am attempting to figure out if the end caps are necessary or would building my own be the way to go. I live close to Cookeville and will just go pick mine up as well. I appreciate the video and hope you had a great year with it. Thanks Bryan
Thanks for the video. We got one from Mortons a few years ago and it appears to be the same deal. I got a quote for another one from Grower Solutions today and was pleasantly surprised!
I've been wanting to order one of these nice video they are a good company I buy my growing trays and pots from them if you order something that doesnt work together they call you and let you know they're good people.
You never said how it held up in the weather. Did rain collect on the plastic? I bought one of those cheapie Chinese greenhouse hoops for under $150. Ten by twenty. Went together in about an hour. It has windows at sides for ventilation and an end that zips open and rolls up. On the downside, the seams will tear easily (and leak rainwater), The worst being that rain will collect on the top and if the cover isn't anchored well the cover will become overweighted and be pulled down to the ground. Probably could use more purlins. But overall it's pretty nice. The plastic cover has a weave for strength and sun shading. It's new so I will have to see how it holds up for the year. For the price vs. yours, I could buy several hoop houses or replace the cover when it wears out (however long that will be).
Steve Simpson So far it has been very solid in the wind, and the straps are a great addition. The plastic should be drawn snug but not banjo string tight. This will help prevent water pooling along the roof while still avoiding tears.
I love our grower solution high tunnel but the two hole braces that came with mine it said they were 1 1/4 but they did not fit I went to Home Depot and bought some 1 1/4 two hole braces and they fit so I held them up to each other and they were different sizes but said 1 1/4
Do not use the 6ml 55% white shade plastic film from Growers Solution (which ships from Green Tek) it does not hold up like the clear 6ml plastic. I have to repair the plastic in multiple places after six months. Disappointed in the product and company. They do not allow negative reviews either.

Thanks for the strength forward review. I am putting plastic on my 16×16 Growers Solution greenhouse now.👍🙌
I'm putting up a 32' x 60' super duty, thanks for the helpful tips!

I agree. Thanks for tuning in!
Appreciate the post. Live in TN also. Been considering getting one of these. Installing is my biggest hurdle.
Did you take the plunge yet? My only concern is hail or squirrels or something tearing that plastic.
Simple and clear!! Thanks

I keep watching this video waiting on my green house to be delivered. Nice job!

In N.J. we use them for chicken coops!, the only thing I have bought for any green house is the cover materials.

Fantastic video my friend.
BTW, PVC greenhouses are nice BUT, WILL not last nearly as long as that one!
Thank you
Thank you for making this video!
Very insightful, thanks!
2x6x12 your a rich man with those guys in 2021 lol. Arm and a leg right now. Glad you put your GH up prior to the lumber boom

I seen big expensive greenhouses collapse with a few feet of snow if there is a week spot you will know if it snows
@@ericshoemake6090 I'll take my hurricanes over snow every year. Lol. Added bonus is growing tropical fruit here in Central Florida
Thanks for taking the time to post your videos, I always them. Just curious, could you also dry firewood in there ?.
I don’t see why not, just don’t have it completely sealed up, it would need some air circulation to dry the wood, and not create condensation inside!
Might have been cheaper to buy the lumber a year ago when this video came out probably cheaper to just buy the end wall kit now lol
I live in Tennessee also wondering how do you control the temperature? Thanks for video
The roll up sides

did you put on the roll up sides?
Nope, We decided to stay with fixed walls along the sides.
So you're building a Greenhouse and not a Hightunnel?
How big of trailer do I need to take and get high tunnel?
I used a 22' and when I saw how ours was packaged realized I could have put it in the back of my pickup truck.
@@American-OutdoorsNet how big of high tunnel did yal get if don’t mine me asking

Longer leadtimes now. Shipping costs in 2022 makes it almost not worth it. Luckily we bought in 2021
