Leon is a very generous man. Generous with his knowledge. He’s no nonsense. I consider it a huge privilege to have met him. He’s a very well respected man not only in his community, but outside as well.
I just had to make a comment. I had a garden center 16 yrs. We cut 8-12" sections from black 2" PVC pipe, then cut out a strip so we can bend them down over the metal pipe. Works like a charm and less expensive and time consuming than when we bought a section of wiggle wire channels
HUUGGEEEE THANKS LEON !!! Best High tunnel description and construction methods I've heard / seen so far. Simplified way down the GOOD high tunnel construction methods. Of course; like you said; the "easy, conduit, etc" versions are simple; but you get what you pay for with them. Really like your gift for describing things simply. Step by step and very clear. Keep on truckin' Leon !!!
Thanks for all the information, Leon, the ropes are a great solution for the wind issues, planning mine out now. Also, they used to throw out the mule at work so i got a bunch and untangled it all, great for lots of stuff.
best videos to follow for tips and knowledge.. God sent Mr.Leon... and his team... so much effort goes into teaching us...thank you so much sir...God bless everybody
I love to listen to you for two reasons. One, you know so much and I live to learn from you. Two, you sound like my family in Arkansas and it makes me smile.😊
You explained the concept of tunneling for heat retention so well everyone should now understand. People always laugh when I put caterpillar tunnels inside the hoop house. I use rebar stakes hammered into the ground to attach hula-hoops to (yes, the toy), cover them with plastic and they work great inside the hoop house. I live in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, so our hoop house gets completely stripped and put to bed for the winter, but I absolutely love how you twist the outside ropes over each 4' section and will be using your method this year. Our winds can easily reach 80-100mph and our hail & wind storms can devastate crops for miles, so anything we can do to strengthen our houses helps. Have you ever attached a water-catchment system to your hoop-houses? Our hoop-houses can produce enough water to more than cover our gardening requirements for the season, we have friends in Alaska that use their hoop-houses to water their crops too. It never ceases to amaze me just how much water we actually collect, in fact, half of it goes to our overflow. Love watching your set-ups and technique, our growing season is of course totally different than yours, but it's amazing how many of your techniques work no matter where you live. Happy Gardening.
Thanks for teaching me something about farming! I've subscribed and hope to learn more to assist in my backyard garden! And to think that former NYC mayor Bloomberg said that there's nothing to farming - "Dig a hole, put in a seed, water it, and you have food!" He might be a billionaire, but he has a lot to learn!
A big thumbs-up on the video Leon doing a great job explaining the difference between a high tunnel and a greenhouse I love watching your videos thank you for sharing thank you for taking the time to share with us your knowledge Daniel's right you are very knowledgeable
Hi Leon, I am an old gardener here in the mountains of East Tennessee and came across this video. You seem like a man of great knowledge and can not wait to see some more of your videos. I am new to these hoop houses and green houses and am looking to build something or another to extend our growing season here. My favorites are tomatoes and cucumbers. Take care and stay healthy.
Leon, I did just as you prescribed, Rung the bell, hit the like button and subscribed. I had a bunch of mentors like you and they inspired me to great old ways and knowledge. I miss everyone of them. I hope some people will listen to you, you have years of knowledge and experience in a world of foolishness. The internet is awesome for dispensing your knowledge but i miss not shaking your hand. Thank you sir for taking the time. Now I'd like to buy a peck of tomatoes from you for your trouble.
You seem to be open to change when something new, when it comes with what you are doing. That is very wise. I hope you never lose your houses to anything. God speed to you. I love these kinds of videos. I find it easier to learn when shown and told what to do with these things. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for your video. Lots of good info trying to decide what kind of greenhouse to make. I have use wiggle wire in the past and it’s the only way to go.
Thank you so much for all the wonderful information about your hot tunnel. I am so excited now that I have started a garden it's small just in my little back yard but at least it's something. I appreciate you sharing all your knowledge. Great video.
Leon, thanks for sharing! It's nice to see someone like you on here spreading your vast knowledge of greenhouses. I live in a high wind area in the West and have always wanted to know what folks do to build high tunnels in the wind. You answered it here in this video. Thank you!
Never seen rope used over a high tunnel like that, but it makes a LOT of sense. Wind ripped up my fabric pretty quick but I bet that would have saved it. Thanks for the tip.
Getting ready to build my first greenhouse ever, here in N.E. Oklahoma, and I just learned quite a bit today, sir. Keep up the Great Work!!! Thank you and have a Wonderful Day!
I feel like my grandpa is explaining this all to me. I've been looking for an old head to answer a few questions before i build mine because these city folk with a tiny greenhouse in the back yard ($5k kit) just isn't cutting it. That man knows a thing or two because he has seen a thing or two.
Thank you for this great video! It has been more informative than anything I have seen so far. We are getting ready to purchase a high tunnel and were very concerned about the wind. Your video helped out so much.
Thank you for explaining the wiggle wire, I had not heard of it. I am really enjoying your videos. I live in a small apartment with a balcony. I have experimented with balcony gardening before by putting bags of potting soil in trays of water made from pvc and plastic. It worked OK but took a lot of space which I do not have. I want to try your buckets using 2-gallon buckets to stack them to make towers and grow greens and herbs. if I do I will make a video and give a link to your channel, thanks again.
Fascinating - Israel has so many agricultural advances I would love to just do a farm tour there. They certainly know how to get the most out of a little bit of land and water.
Them high tunnels are great And perfect for areas that don't suffer 35-50 mph winds That's why I've a green house Subterrarian with 4ft deep 6 ft above ground 10x20 .it's not seen the use of wicking tubs However soon will Thanks leon
Wow! You're a wealth of useful information, Mister! The info about the ropes and the nested mini tunnels, with degree benefit for each layer was so useful to me. I'm building a tunnel right now and have been thinking about how I'd either put panels on top over winter to keep the tarp from flapping around, or figure out another way. You've just guided me to that other way - ropes. I have pre-drilled struts, in 12 gauge, for side purlins and an extra set for rolling the tarp, so I have the structure in place to weave the rope taut and keep it taut. Thanks so much, Mister! Subbing your channel.
Highly informative content, thanks for the info Leon! I had no idea about the "Wiggle Wire" and was going to have a lot of wasted plastic but this will make easy install/removal a cinch! I plan to run the hightunnels between LateFeb/EarlyMar through May and October to Dec if we have things run late.
When a man in overalls speaks I listen...
Any relation to Bob villa?! My dad user to watch him religiously👀👀 just asking 😂😂😂
Those overalls gave me epilepsy.
He should sell t shirts that !
I’m going to have to get a pair so people will listen when I talk.
😄🚜🚜🚜
I learned more in 15 minutes from Mr. Leon then any sales person could tell me in weeks
i learned along time ago if you want gardening advice ask the nearest white haired man in overalls
Awww 😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️
He sounds, looks & acts exactly like my Grandpa & Uncles.
I enjoyed this so much!
He’s very informative & interesting.
The way you showed concern for people getting frustrated and abandoning gardening was so kind and sincere. 💚
Yep that’s where I am now
I could listen to Leon say wiggle wire all day 😂 Thank you for the information, this is exactly what I was looking for.
Leon is a very generous man. Generous with his knowledge. He’s no nonsense. I consider it a huge privilege to have met him. He’s a very well respected man not only in his community, but outside as well.
The way the phrase "wiggle wire" slides off his tongue is amazing. Great info! Thank You!
What a joy to watch you.I really enjoyed your information and knowledge! Thanks Leon! ❤️

First vid I viewed... subscribed! Thank you for saving me the time of looking up “wiggle wire” and how to use it!
Thanks Leon. As always, a very informative video.
How to trim tomatoes
Sounds great, Leon. 👍 A high tunnel should be 'Gothic' style in snow areas-- to prevent collapse from snow load.
A world of knowledge, listen to him and learn.
Great video Leon, I'm glad I got to see your green houses
High tunnel, that is!😉
Thank you for this great video! It has been more informative than anything I have seen so far. We are getting ready to purchase a high tunnel and were very concerned about the wind. Your video helped out so much.
