  • The Pennsylvania Vegetable Marketing & Research Program, in honor of PA Produce Month, traveled to Chester County, PA to talk to Peter Flynn of Pete's Produce Farm in West Chester about high tunnels. Ever wonder what those structures are for if they aren't greenhouses? How do they impact the local food system, making farm fresh veggies more accessible for YOU? Take a moment and find out!

I love that, energizer bunny of tomatoes! I should have my grant from NRCS soon and I will be putting up a high tunnel as soon as possible in 2024. I am in northwest Florida 8b so I don't have to worry about snow load but I definitely plan to have shade cloth and roll up sides on mine.

My Grandad is friends with him. I remember driving his John Deere 7330 Premium when it was brand new with my grandad back in 2008 when the tractor was brand new.

Installing subsurface membranes for water and nutrient conservation prior to erecting or in an existing seasonal high tunnel will provide excellent soil conditions for the growth of all crops. U shaped membranes installed at two depths below tillage depth with gaps between to allow for excess water to drain have been proven to save up to 50% of irrigation water and keep nutrients in the root zone for maximum crop growth. Find out more at SWRT Solutions Inc. on Facebook and RUclips.

Great video, would this work in tropical climates in Thailand? I have inherited a large green house.

Great video. Just curious Pete, does this system allow natural pollinators into you crops?

This greenhouse is not fully covered, so yes, natural pollination occurs. You can always help with an electric toothbrush!

How do I sell to grocery store? Does it have to be inspected by the food inspectors ? I’m not sure how it works. Thanks
