- Welcome back to my ... shed build 😁
In todays video i show you how i made the apex roof for my shed build.
As usual there is a lot of "make it up as you go" in this video, but it has worked out rather well.
Hopefully you have seen the previous videos where i make the base and the walls. if not please check them out, Thanks 😁
Thanks for watching, i hope you enjoy and even learned some new skills along the way 😁👍

The best and the most "logical step" by step tutorial.
😁 Thank you Igor. I hope it was of some use 😁. Thank you for watching 😁👍
There’s something about watching a bloke build a shed. Looking good frank👍
😁 Thanks Mark. I just can't wait for "this bloke" to finnish it 🤣🤣. But I am happy with it... so far 😁. Thanks for watching mate 😁👍
Excellent job Frank. Great video, and I love the ending credits/outtakes 😂
😁 Thanks John. Its holding up really well and I've had no problems at all 😃. Thanks for watching 😁 👍
I’m so happy 😁 I fell onto your channel, this makes it a lot easier to figure out, so I subscribed to your channel ❤❤❤
😃 Thank you so much. Thats much appreceated. I hope the video helps. Thanks for watching and subscribing 😁👍
Great shed, great video! Using the framing square with the adjustable square is inspired; I must remember that one. Cheers.
😁 Thanks Ben. I sometimes just try things to see if they work. Then double check to make sure its correct. I try to avoid numbers where possible (I always get them wrong 😒). For me, if its simple I have more chance of success 😁. Thanks for watching Ben 😁👍
Always nice to have a roof over your head Frank 👍👍
😂 Yep, it will be even better when I get some time to felt it 🤣🤣. Thanks for watching 😁👍
Really enjoying this series Frank 👌
😁 Thanks Keith. I must admit.. I can't wait for it to be completed. But I'm enjoying the build. Thanks for watching Keith 😁👍
Excellent, thank you so much. You have given me confidence to put a pitched roof on my upcoming project as opposed to a flat roof. Very informative and enjoyable.
😁 Go for it. It will look so much better. If you can do a flat roof then I'm sure you can make a good job of a pitched one. Good luck 😁👍
Got shed/s to make (primarily to get non-workshop stuff out of the one shed we have already built). Materials cost is now a scary factor. Am learning from pretty much all that you are doing. Your clever use of combined rafter square and adjustable square is totally new to me; not something I would have ever figured out by myself.
😁 This build is purely just so I can have a small part of the new shed for project wood storage... I'm desperate for workshop space. I'm glad your learning something 😁. I'm learning as I go and taking the time to try things before commiting to a final cut. The price of timber now means if I mess up a cut it will cost too much to try again. Thanks very much for watching Colin 😁👍
That's a ripper of a shed, looking bloody good especially since you are working on your own cheers Frank 👍👍🇦🇺
😃 Thanks Trevor. I'm trying to get some treatment on it before the winter sets in. Just need some dry days... but this is England so that probably won't happen any time soon 🤣🤣. Thanks for watching 😁👍
Looking awesome!
😁 Thanks Dean. I'm pleased with it so far. Learning lots along the way 😃. Thanks for watching mate 😁👍
Definitely been there having to solve a problem of alignment when placing the roof boards. Nothing better than solving problems as you go.
😁 Every day is a school day 😁. And solving a problem yourself normally ends up saving some money 😆, happy days. Thanks for watching Jiggsy 😁👍
It took me a while to learn sketchup, but when I did, it made a massive difference. Stick with it. Great video by the way. 🇬🇧🇦🇺👍🍺🍺
😁 Thanks Chris. I must admit it looks like a really great tool. But as with every tool, its only as good as the bloke using it. I will stick with it and eventually master it. Hope your well mate. I have loads of M2C1 to catch up with. Thanks for watching Chris 😁👍
Great job.
😁Thanks Fisshaye 😁👍
Thank you for your great experience, which we have been fascinated with, and the evidence seems to be a simplified and easy explanation in conveying the information to the viewer.
😁 Thank you Safyany, I'm glad you liked the video. Thank you for watching 😁👍
Good stuff mate 👍 going to be building one over the next few weeks and this video has been a huge help.
😃 Thanks Prez, glad it was of some help 😁. Trying to get the video edited of how I made the doors. So hopefully that will be out soon 😁. Thanks for watching 😁👍
Good job 👍👍👍
😁 Thanks J. Its been hard work so far because of the heat, but I'm getting there 😁👍
Sehr gute Arbeit und Video 👍 Grüsse aus Germany
😁 Thank you very much Rudolf 😁. I am glad you liked the video, I hope it was of some help. Thanks for watching all the way from sunny Germany 🇩🇪 🇬🇧😁👍
Very nice job Frank 🙌🙌 and some great techniques 👍 more planning than I even did😂it’s gonna be fantastic! Cheers Rob
😁 Thanks Rob 😁. I haven't planned everything.... there is no provision for a TV 🤣🤣. Stay safe mate and thanks for watching 😁👍
@@frankslittleworkshop no Plan for a tv,? that should be first on the list 🤣🤣 all the best mate! 👍👍
Lovely job Frank I bet you didn't need to go to the gym after all that ladder work. I used to do light fitting repairs and replacement 8 hours up and down a ladder I felt it the next day. Looking forward to the next part. Steve Australia.
😁 Thanks Steve. Yep, the ladder is a killer (especially on the uneven grass). I know its not hot by your standards, but the weather has been so hot it makes it even harder (but it gives us Brits something to moan about i guess 🤣🤣). Stay safe Steve and thanks for watching 😁👍🇬🇧
I was impressed you pulled it off but you didnt show how you got it squared

Good job, but why cut the overhang off for a gutter, if you leave a big overhang the rain wont hit the building !
🤔 Hi Antony. The guttering server a couple of purposes. We use the rain water around the garden later in the year so its the best way to reclaim it. Also, without the guttering the roof concentrates the water to one area on the ground in front of the shed. This area of ground is quite low so immediately floods and turns in to a soggy mess. So the gutter is essential 😁. Thanks for watching Antony 😁👍
Hi what was your measurement on the tape for your pitch roof, by the nice shed mate
😁Hi Brian, sorry, but which measurement on the pitch roof ? There were a few 🤔.I probably won't remember now as it was a while ago, but I can always go and measure. Thanks for watching Brian 😁👍.
Out takes should be compulsory on all vids. I’m so glad I built my shed before the weather went mental you really were up against it on this build but looking good so far.
🤣 I've had so many out-takes on this build. It seem working outside always creates the perfect conditions.... to mess up 🤣. I've had to take a couple of days away from the build as the heat was knocking me sideways. I'm just going to squeeze in a workshop project (inside) and then back on with felting the roof before the weekend. Thanks for watching Steve 😁👍
How did you clad the two wall up against the fence
😁 Hi Laura, with a lot of struggling 😆. In the cladding video I show how I did most of it.
ruclips.net/video/6_ooDf9jAXc/видео.htmlsi=aog849e6HI9jvKBQ
But I used the cladding from the old shed for the fence sides. I briefly show it at the end of the cladding video. And yes.... I did get wedged a few times 😆. Thanks for watching 😁 👍
I still think it's better to put in a ridge beam especially if you are in snow.
😃 Your probably right, but that probably would have caused me some head clearance issues and would have stretched the budget a bit too much. I don't think we will have much snow weight issues here, the last time we had more than about 3 inches of snow I was only 16 years old 😆😆. Thanks for watching Gary 😁👍🏻
You do a good job but the frames are too small, you need to have all 2x4.
😁 I agree Yooj. But my budget was very limited so I had to go with what I could afford. I have now partitioned of the inside in to two areas so have created an internal box section which adds additional strength and some additional corner bracing. So now it is sufficiently rigid. Thanks for watching Yooj 😁👍
