"Ultimate Tenkaichi" was a name voted by fans back in 2011. In Japan it isn't called "Sparking" so it's not connected to the Sparking/Budokai Tenkaichi series.
I love Tenkaichi 3 for the faster pace gameplay and large roster but Tenkaichi 2 is my personal favorite because of the story mode and while Tenkaichi 3 did add in game dialogue and in game cutscenes, it left out a lot of my favorite fights like Trunks vs Frieza, Future Gohan vs the androids (which is strange since this was the first game besides Sagas to have Future Gohan playable),and Gohan vs Super Buu
Not doing Gohan vs Super Buu was a weird choice cuz that's the scenario they use for Training Tests😂 I guess they gave us more than enough of a Toy box to do what we want, but some in-fight dialogue would be nice 😅
Yeah, while I like BT3's Story, it was missing a lot. Vegeta vs. Qui, Dadoria and Zarbon The Z Fighters vs 17 and 18 Gokents amd Gohan vs Super Buu Just to name a few of them.
Apparently no one played using the motion controls, but they were way better in BT2 as well. A lot of them used the IR pointer which was very precise, but BT3 ditched the cursor entirely and made them all 100% waggle. Was pretty disappointed since I got really used to the motion controls and was never that good at fighting games on a normal controller.
I grew up playing Tenkaichi 2 A LOT. It is so criminally underrated. Be it having the best soundtrack (besides the Budokai series), but also one of the best layouts for the story of Dragon Ball. Although it might not be as super fast paced as 3, it actually has more variety in combos. If you were to combine the story of 2 (plus 3's cutscenes and dialogue) with the character selection and a combination of both fighting mechanics- Tenkaichi 2 + Tenkaichi 3 make the perfect DBZ game!
Thank you Hidden for this amazing documentary, I used an emulator to get BT2 and BT3 and I own Raging blast and Raging blast 2 I have maxed all the games and I fell in love with them my first exposure to the tenkaichi series was Raging blast 2 (ironically it was also my first ever exposure to dragon ball) and I fell in love with it I would play at my friends house with my brother and we played hours together, growing up I longed to try its prequel so I purchased it and had soo much fun until I got bored it was after the anouncement of BT4 that I decided to download BT2 and BT3 on my emulator I spent hours on both games and fully maxed them and till now i'm still playing with them and enjoying the ultimates and roster I also amped the graphics to have a high resolution game. My favourite tenkaichi game was always BT3 but BT2 has become my favourite having a great story with an incredible score that plays hours in my head, nothing will ever top this series and it really has changed dbz games forever as it inspired Xenoverse and Battle of Z. I will never forget the impact tenkaichi has had on my life and I can't thank you enough for covering this Hidden.
Budokai Tenkaichi 2 was my jam back in the day. More so than Budokai 2. It felt great to have a game where I could roam freely around the fighting arena, fly at will, and battle my opponent.

I must apologize...I've been watching your DBZ GAMES series for a while now and haven't subscribed until just now. I apologize for that. You and your channels content are very appreciated.
As well made this video is the part about BT3 being labeled as the pinnacle and best of the Budokai Tenkaichi series in the video when BT2 is my personal favorite didn't sit well with me. I also find BT3 to have better gameplay, better arena stages, and a dynamic roaster. On the other hand, I also find BT2 to have memorable song tracks, better canon/non-canon story modes, and better content compared to BT3. I still consider BT3 to be the greatest DBZ fighting game of all time while BT2 captured the greatest DBZ game experience of all time. There is a chance that BT4 can do both. With that being said I still view both of them somewhat equally in quality. I thought that segment on BT3 was way more lenient and generous compared to both segments on BT1 & BT2. Other than that this was a really good video.
Even after all these years I still go back to Budokai Tenkaichi 3 every year, it is my favorite DB game and one of my most played games ever, it is that GOOD. I hope they make this new 4th one as good but I'm not keeping my hopes up because of modern gaming and its greed, I hate DLC, MTXs and battlepasses.
I kno RB series has it fan base but I could never get into that game, while not being the worst DB game it definitely wasn't Budokai or Tenkaichi game at all. Spike really fell off after BT3.
I do think its so dam stupid that the company responsible for releasing the dragon ball z budokai hd collection was hoping if that collection did well they would release a dragon ball z budokai Tenkaichi hd collection back in the ps3 era but they missed out huge for not doing that. Thanks spike...
I love the feature that when you k.o. an opponent with an ultimate that’s known for destruction, the body disappears. That needs to stay with EVERY dbz game until the end of time. 😎👌🏾
The character deck thing in Raging Blast reminds me a lot of the weird ass system they had in the Uzumaki Chronicle games where every character had this weird skill plate thing and every character's skill plate table looked different than other characters, so you had to find different ways to layout skills within the table to optimize them. It was always a really weird system to me, but honestly the Uzumaki Chronicles games as a whole are weird to me. They feel like a fever dream to me and I constantly question if they actually exist and then I go into my bedroom and see that I own them and it's like... well... guess they exist.
I am looking forward to it. I hope it can recapture the magic of the original dragon ball anime and not end up like GT. I know a lot of people were hoping for more dbs but honestly I much prefer this.
Nice video, Tenkaichi 3 still remains my favorite. There is another dragon ball game which I feel is underrated, Dragon Ball Fusions on 3DS. I thought the game was a pretty good RPG Dragon Ball game. What do you think?

It seems the more profit a Game seeks the less it actually makes. Inspired Games have less thought to profit yet are the most profitable. Weird how life works.
It's a side effect of how they programmed the voices. Since the Japanese version was the base, they built it around those parameters, and there aren't drastic vocal changes in forms like the dub does.
The OG Budokai truly changed my life, both as a gamer and a fan of those funny Japanese cartoons I was starting to see and hear more of. Tenkaîchi 1 was a bit clunky in ways, but the then revolutionary feeling 3d combat series got me hooked enough to get 2. I sadly never got around to 3, but I feel like I didn't miss too much. /cope
You should review Sonic The Hedgehog (2006). Well, Albeit, It's the most reviewed game ever, I wanna see your thoughts on the music, story, level design, etc.
Moral of the story Budokai Tenkaichi / DBZ Sparking only had 3 games and they were bangers but people count other games as part of the series when they really weren't.
A very nice bundled episode this one is indeed. I'm hoping just for BT4 to have all the great stuff as far as movement and playable characters but also a great soundtrack system... I never liked the way BT3 sounded at all besides the gameplay was pretty well done from the previous BT2 game.
ok as someone who grew up playing all these as they happened. we knew tenkaichi was gonna be a different fighter then the budokais. i would never go as far as to say misleading marketing for that. we had pictures of game play in places like gamestop and gamespot before release even in those days. i just dont agree with that word choice
I hadn't given it thought. But you just might very well be right about them spreading out the roster and pulling a battle of z/xenoverse. Selling characters and dlc and nickel and diming players for cosmetics at every turn. I have very little doubt that wont be the case. Look at how the industry is today.
I always kinda found the naming weird, I kinda think they named it Budokai Tenkaichi in the west riding off of Budokai, and even then Budokai is a western title.
Modern day gaming and the brainlets that fuel it is exactly why I'm NOT hype about Budukai Tenkaichi 4. If they really want to make me happy, they'd announce that there will be no character DLC. However, the likelihood that they're going to say screw it and opt to pervert the game/franchise I love instead is extremely high.
Ultimate Tenkaichi could have been a better game if they removed the Tedious button-mashing sequences and the timing sequences and remove any unnecessary cutscenes like you said in the video that weren't needed also after you finished the side quests the world kinda has that empty vipe to it.
A budokai Tenkai game witb Budokai and Tenkaichis 2 way of telling the story and all the perks and improvements/additions in Tenkaichi 3 wouldve been perfect. I have no faith Tenkaichi 4 will hit even half of what Tenkaichi 2 or 3 was in this age of gaming getting abused by dlc and unfinished shit.
I've never played BT2 or BT3, because something about its aesthetics and presentation just put me off it. I know it sounds stupid, but even the fonts used in most, if not all, the in-game text. and the music too. I loved RB1, though something about its presentation still bothered me, but not nearly as much. I couldn't be bothered to pick up RB2 back in the day, since it just seemed to me like RB1 with worse\strange-looking character models and no story mode. And then came Ultimate Tenkaichi, which I knew I wasn't interested in as soon as I saw it, because... No. Just no. As for BT4, from the very limited footage we've seen so far, its graphics and character models seem to be simillar to RB1, which means there's a good chance I'll pick it up lol. I'm definitely not as excited about DBZ games as I was as a kid though. Kakarot is a strange beast, in that on the one hand I could sink hours upon hours into it (and have), because there are always "boxes to tick" and objectives to complete. On the other hand though, the gameplay itself is just very... meh.

Tenkaîchi 1 was a bit clunky in ways, but the then revolutionary feeling 3d combat series got me hooked enough to get 2. I sadly never got around to 3, but I feel like I didn't miss too much. /cope
budokai is a garbo compared to any tenkaichi except ultimate
@@28br It really is, but when it's all I had, I made my fun where I could 😹 Luckily 2 and 3 weren't too far around the corner
There was never a fall we just remove the memory of ultimate tenkachi
Tennaichi 2 and 3 had an easy gameplay it was easy to play thats why it was our favourite
Ultimate Tenkaichi is my favorite game in the series
Tag team is a close second to budokai tenkaichi 3 in my opinion
I'm really scared BT4 is going to be a microtransaction hellhole.
- 20 characters at launch
- 150 characters dlc
Microtransactions or early release.. or both :(
They already confirmed that the empty slots seen in trailers are for launch characters, not dlc.
No playable launch tho 😞
A very nice bundled episode this one is indeed.
I'm hoping just for BT4 to have all the great stuff as far as movement and playable characters but also a great soundtrack system... I never liked the way BT3 sounded at all besides the gameplay was pretty well done from the previous BT2 game.
They better not fuck up BT4
Oooh it's attention bait cause 4 is coming out
ok as someone who grew up playing all these as they happened. we knew tenkaichi was gonna be a different fighter then the budokais. i would never go as far as to say misleading marketing for that. we had pictures of game play in places like gamestop and gamespot before release even in those days. i just dont agree with that word choice
I never really got into Budokai Tenkaichi until I was about 7 or 8. I was more on the Budokai side.
lets goooo
I love dragon Ball z ultimate tenkaichi 。Dragon Ball z ultimate tenkaichi forever 🔥🌩️🌩️🐺⚡🌩️⛈️
Imagine Budokai tenkaichi with Dragon ball Z kakarot graphic
Budakai tenchaichi 2 is my favorite
I hadn't given it thought. But you just might very well be right about them spreading out the roster and pulling a battle of z/xenoverse. Selling characters and dlc and nickel and diming players for cosmetics at every turn. I have very little doubt that wont be the case. Look at how the industry is today.
3:34 bro talk about unfair
I always kinda found the naming weird, I kinda think they named it Budokai Tenkaichi in the west riding off of Budokai, and even then Budokai is a western title.
Modern day gaming and the brainlets that fuel it is exactly why I'm NOT hype about Budukai Tenkaichi 4. If they really want to make me happy, they'd announce that there will be no character DLC. However, the likelihood that they're going to say screw it and opt to pervert the game/franchise I love instead is extremely high.
bt3 is actually really great. easily the best roster. (though xenoverse 2 would beat it if it would *just* cover the kid goku era)
Positive comment
On the other hand though, the gameplay itself is just very... meh.
