Harlock2day Elites in Hollywood hold a grudge against the producers because they decide to make the movie outside of the death grip that is Hollywood so any attempt at a sequel would go nowhere in the US because the high-level producers and directors and Studios would go on their own personal crusade to make sure this movie never made made it on the big screen
Harlock2day I don’t think it was profitable enough as well for Hollywood too, so that might have happened. When this originally came out, I don’t remember people discussing it either, so idk how popular it was with people.
Please tell me you’re joking, the film is absolute litter, James Purefoy is the wrong choice for this movie, he’s not nearly dark and evil enough to play Solomon, this scene may be the only decent scene in the whole film and that’s saying something
"If I kill you, I am bound for hell. It is a price I shall gladly pay!" THE most badass line I've ever heard in a movie. He knows he's going to hell if he kills you, but he's had enough of your shit and you just murdered a child, so he's going to do it anyway.
This is such an underrated movie. Much like Dracula Untold. Both did an amazing telling of their stories with unique and detailed lore with realistic action.
Yeah he's like John wick in the old days or like John Marston type... It does fit perfectly this guy is a fine actor and many men had his look back in the day
I can’t believe how much I loved this movie, when my dad got it I was sure it was going to be a lame poorly made film. But by the first scene I was hooked. This scene and the crucifixion scene hit me really hard.
I really enjoyed this film. I'm such a big fan of Solomon Kane and Robert E. Howard. I watched this back in 2012 and it's one of my favorite films since.
The beheading is one of the most realistic I've ever seen in a movie; cutting a head off takes several hits to slice the bone, usually the executioner had to hack at the criminal's neck several times to separate head and body.
I love the fight scenes, much more realistic then alot out there. Taking several attempts to behead someone. Really struggling to pull a blade from a corpse, etc.
I'm non-religious since 2015 and when I watched this movie for the first time in about 2016 it revealed a great meaning to me. It delivers its message in a fenominal artistic fashion. I admire and think the world for every single human in history who tried to establish peace on this planet.
This movie made me fall in love with James Purefoy. Such a damn sexy man & a fine actor who doesn't get the recognition he deserves. He also did an impressive 95% of his own stunts in this movie, including the part when he's running after Meredith in this scene, all whilst he had a bad knee. I admire that kind of dedication. 😍
He was phenomenal in "The Following" tv series with Kevin Bacon. I seriously adored that show, especially the first season, were good too but that first one was fire from episode to the finale. (Spoiler warning), i really loved the concept in the first season of a cult of serial killers who actually were trained by ex-military and cops, so they weren't just normal serial killers either. Plus the idea of them infiltrating everything from police departments to hospitals, it was fuckin cool. Which is why it kinda sucked that they killed off the entire cult for the most part, including of the really badass top liements who served under Joe, (Purefoy's character - who was the leader and founder of the cult), they killed them off way to early on - especially Tyrell. Anyways - great show and Purefoy was fuckin brilliant in it, it was also prolly Kevin Bacon's greatest performance as well.
To be honest, I don't like Fantasy movies (I prefer Sci-Fi) but this movie blew me away - very interesting storyline, nice visual effects, great acting. James Purefoy was brilliant as Solomon. I like the idea that the main warrior/killer/hero was religious. Rachel Hurd-Wood was stunning as well. "Solomon Kane" is interesting, sometime even shocking and criminally underrated movie. I hope they will make a sequel
@@joanfoxholes8962 Not the original Solomon from Howard tales. He is not shy to use violence if he needs to, but he does not kill or fight if there is no must to it. He is shown as a romantic, noble type of crusader. They kinda missed a lot about his character in the movie, yet it wasn't bad, it was actually very good, especially when counting in the budged it had.
I'm here after some AWESOME news broke at the Midnight's Edge stream with Razörfist the other day about a Soloman Kane series in production. Hell YEAH.
"If I kill you I am bound for hell..." He is definitely not bound for hell - he's already there and the path out of hell is to go into action and take responsibility by using his abilities to kill the demons and save the others.
This movie is literally the definition of Dark souls!!! James Purefoy was born for this role. Solomon Kane was the main protagonist he kills anything that came on his way. He sets a mission completed it and any enemy come shall receive the consequences. 2000's era was a legendary era for Hollywood. I wish they made more masterpiece like that. I was shocked when I realized the masked guy was Solomon's brother. Plot twists was wild on this movie.
Did you know that the creator of Solomon Kane was Robert E Howard, the same Robert E Howard who created Conan? Unfortunately Howard committed suicide at age 30. While the movie Solomon Kane and Conan were good, Howard's written stories are amazing. If you have a pre-teen or teen boy who doesn't like to read, try some of Howard's work. They got me reading at a young age and I never stopped.
Outstanding one hell of a movie got to see it I'll watch it a third time I don't care I love the movie and I love the actor James Purefoy he is so wonderful and wondrous in it it's not even funny it's just perfect as Solomon Kane❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sometimes it doesn't need a sequel, just that one masterpiece that always makes us think about that one film and this one was probably one of my favourites. Imagine tho if Solomon Kane, Van Helsing and V for Vendetta teamed up haha
Dude, the move at around the 4:05/4:06 mark - I'm talking the part where Solomon parries the one badguy's thrust, redirecting the thrust into the torso of one of the other baddies, followed by Solomon cutting the hand off of that very same dude who stabbed his friend, while then finally Solomon takes the sword outa the body of the stabbed guy to then slash and kill the dude who's hand was cut off - that sequence specifically is some of the most badass sword fighting choreography that I've ever seen like legit top 10! The scene as a whole was phenomenal imo, but that part in particular was on a whole other level of brilliant!
If this was some kind of horror, action, supernatural movie the main character would probably say something like this after he put the cape on but near the end: “Although I was able to fight the demon that possessed me send it back, there are still many more out there. And as long as I’m alive I’ll keep fighting every last one if I have to. But I’m no longer the same man I was. From now on I’ll take a different name. A name that those who worship Hell and all it’s minions will come to know and hate. A name that stands for the noble kings God gave his aid too. A name that brings hope to those who are attacked by the fallen bastard and his legions. From now on, my name will be known as……. Solomon Kane!!!”
but killing a bad guy doesn't let you go to hell right? killing a bad guy is the necessary thing. (okay, batman thinks otherwise, but his enemies aren't as cruel as the devil himself)
The way solomon strolls past the young dudes skewered corpse and straight to the old man was just cold and not in a good way LMAO it's like he just said "yeah whatever, fuck that guy in particular, I got a dramatic scene to catch"
This is such a good movie (it's also perhaps the closest thing we have to a Warhammer Fantasy movie, at least in its aesthetics). Lastly here we see Captain Jack Speares making an oath to Marquesa Helene Leroux and Sergeant Obadiah Hakeswill. 😉

There was supposed to be a sequel and it was going to be called the campaign but for some reason it never happened
Well it should have done..It was left open for a sequel but never happened. What a shame !!

Miguel Rosa In combat maybe but executing no
Unless you’re french
Depends on the blade design. swords design for cutting like a Falcata and a Kilij will cut a head easier then a gladious

Considering the film gad a poor showing at the box office, i was suprised how good it
was
I know he's in his 50s but like... James Purefoy is THE PERFECT Soloman Kane, and the older and rougher he is, the BETTER.

Solomon Kane vs Van Helsing
Kane wins. Hands down.
I though they had the same actor when I was little
