Underrated film! It's rare to see a non-blockbuster epic fantasy movie, and rarer to see one that doesn't suck. Good action, good performance from the lead, and a very atmospheric setting.

I just saw Solomon Kane today. This Movie is the textbook Example of how to make Epic and Awesome Movies. It’s pure Dark Fantasy at its finest, something that is lacking in most Movies nowadays. I wish people made more of these kinds of Movies instead of whatever we are getting today.
Solomon Kane is a Badass movie filled with amazing set pieces and well-shot scenes. It has terrifying imagery and it told a very decent and enjoyable Story. The person playing Solomon Kane was simply amazing as the Character that I immediately fell in love with. It’s like Lord of The Rings meets Berserk and I love every single minute of it.
I am a huge fan of Dark Fantasy and I really love this Movie and I would love more of these kinds of Movies!

Kane fights like a god
His melee battle scenes are underrated and hardcore.
Very realistic and brutal his blade even gets stuck in their bones twice.
And the scene where hes almost out of breath and throws that heavy head after chopping it off in three chops Jesus!

I still think that the only redeemable scene in this movie was the devil's reaper. The rest of the story was just pretty much rushed and sloppy. I think that they had way to much content to cover in one movie. One of the moves that I personal think has an imdb that truly fits its worth.
I really liked the movie, and think it had pretty strong atmosphere and world building, but I think you've got a point in describing the plot as "sloppy." It's all over the place, trying to cover eight different things when 3 would have sufficed, and not executing them great.
It's supposed to start off into the main plot and then you mysteriously discover his past through the movie...

When he has to kill again for the first time after pledging his life to the lord.

And it's touching.
