You should read the book. Saruman goes to the Shire and takes over. Then Froto and the other hobbits return to the shire after the battle and have a battle where many hobbits die. I think they kill Saruman, but maybe they let him go. I can't remember
@John Doe I meant "read the book" in response to Alfred's original post. Not in a uppity way but in a "you shouldn't think that he killed him on top of his tower" way
Thats what I love about Peter Jackson. He wanted the true death of Saruman in the movie but the battle of the Shire was to much but he still managed to get it in.

Saruman and Grima's deaths, although misplaced in the film (in the books, it takes place in the Shire to end its occupation by Saruman's last forces, not at the top of Orthanc Tower in Isengard), did happen exactly as depicted: Grima stabbed Saruman in a moment of rage (as it was the only way for him to free himself from his powers), but was immediately shot dead by Hobbit bowmen in retaliation.

I think saruman may have been banished to the void or his soul got shattered and destroyed. Not sure about his ring. Since its made by himself and not sauron I'm not sure if it makes him a wraith of not. Just bacuse he made a ring does not mean he can create powerful rings like sauron did. we go from the epicness of Eomer's "Rohirrim! To the KING!" to the heartbreak of Treebeards "Many of these trees were my friends" in one video. And then Saruman getting stabbed in the back its excellent
I like that Aragorn uses the German stance, or posing a threat, with the key guard stance. Since these more industrial orcs still have the under-sides of their arms revealed, along with the lower half of the face and the neck, it's the best pose to use since he can stab a few really easily.

If this was released in 2022, it would still hold up and have a huge audience. Masterpiece trilogy. Peter Jackson immortalized himself with these films.
I love how when Aragorn and Legolas pick up a barrier, Aragorn let’s Legolas lift it by himself. And Legolas looks back like, “ What are- never mind, I got it. Thanks for helping me lift this thing. You just keep talking.” I must also point out when Théoden says “may this be where we draw swords together”, that was Éomer‘ line. Literally. Not to mention Aragorn’s lines before that are also for Éomer. So, Peter Jackson got that mixed. But, I adore The Lord of The Rings, The Silmarillion, and The Hobbit. If I have any spare time, I spend it reading Tolkien’s books.
Is it just a coincidence of movies that Saruman death leads to him being impaled on a spike of one of his machine wheels and Dracula was killed in one of the Hammer series by a wagon wheel spoke? Christopher Lee played both.
I'm sure that many LOTR fans who have actually read the books point out, Saruman was indeed killed by Wormtongue, but not at Isengard, instead after he went into exile and took over the Shire.
A part of me, at least, would've liked Jackson to do three movies for each book, like he did with The Hobbit, even though I suppose it wouldn't have been practical. Then maybe some of the other portions of the novels could have been included, such as the Hobbits' experience with Tom Bombadil and the Scouring of the Shire.

If you read historical accounts of Cavalary flanks, or charges horsea and men did do this. A bit exaggerated but yes. It was meant to break enemies morale and break their lines. Especially shock cavalry. Alexander and Hannibal did these the best.
I mean yes horses are pretty impressive, and historically did charge into lines of troops even pike blocks despite what your modern riders will tell you. But... they kind of died in the process. Charging into a row of spears with nought but your bare chest tends to kill you.
not quite though Saruman was a tad too arrogant for his own good. He knew the ents were very slow to react but even he never counted on two little hobbits stirring up a hornet's nest or well...an army of super powerful trees hungry for revenge for the defiling of their home
Even though the lack of continuity between 2:13 and 2:26 REALLY bothers me as a filmmaker, it’s still one of the absolute greatest scenes in cinema...gets me every time 😊
Grima still killed him in the books. It's just that the hobbits shot arrows at the two to kill Grima. So yeah, they accelerated things a bit further than what was originally written.

The version I had on VHS back in the day was missing so many parts of the movie. Even the versions I have seen online did not include Saruman's death. I have always wondered what happened to Saruman and now I got the answer.
You should read the book. Saruman goes to the Shire and takes over. Then Froto and the other hobbits return to the shire after the battle and have a battle where many hobbits die. I think they kill Saruman, but maybe they let him go. I can't remember
@John Doe Aww yes, now I remember lol.
@@DG-tt1gl Fuck the books. But Alfredo's observation is correct. I didn't had this ending of Saruman in the VHS, and in the one aired on a local TV here in the Middle East.

And the wraith from Saruman rose and looked to the west as if to go, but was blown back by a sudden gust... Or words to that effect... :)
@@Zoltaaan no. He can't... Cause he is a sinner.. Gandalf wasn't a sinner and gandalf didn't come back on his own. Gandalf sacrificed himself for others. So valar and illluvatar restored his body and soul and send him back. Both saruman and gandalf were miar but saruman is a fallen one, hence banned from ever coming back to undying lands for his sinful deeds.
@@Zoltaaan pretty sure his soul got scattered in many particles, so weakened that may never be able to take any uniform shape...and he got banished from the undying lands. Since saruman was a maiar, only a part of his soul was invested in the physical body. I think the description of his death, with a visible eminence of his spirit being dispersed in the winds that came from valar may indicate that some additional actions were taken to punish him... I think saruman may have been banished to the void or his soul got shattered and destroyed. Not sure about his ring. Since its made by himself and not sauron I'm not sure if it makes him a wraith of not. Just bacuse he made a ring does not mean he can create powerful rings like sauron did. Is it just a coincidence of movies that Saruman death leads to him being impaled on a spike of one of his machine wheels and Dracula was killed in one of the Hammer series by a wagon wheel spoke? Christopher Lee played both.
Woah
The villain falling and getting impaled happened in Name of the Rose and Sudden Impact as well. It seems to be a crowd pleaser.
I'm sure that many LOTR fans who have actually read the books point out, Saruman was indeed killed by Wormtongue, but not at Isengard, instead after he went into exile and took over the Shire.
