Tim, the more I watch, the less I want to do what you are doing😉. Since I was a kid I have wanted a BMW Isetta. It is my dream car! Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see it finished. I am learning so.much from your videos.
Wow! Thank you for you comment!, that's why I do it! because then you don't have to :) New episode will come up tonight! If the internet is on my side :/
@@TheMightyThim Seeing that most likely your Isetta's original paint likely was a light red (korallenrot, japanrot, or signalrot), you may want the new paint to resemble the original colour. Here again, the German Isetta Club may be of help, they have done tremendous work on identifying and reconstructing original colours. Are you a club member yet?
@@MrThetaphi not a club member yet! I was planning to go for some original colours, but I think this car was red and yellow, which really isn't too pretty. It is still some time down the road, but I was thinking of red and white color theme.
@@TheMightyThim If your 1957 Isetta had 2 colours originally, you should be able to find the holes for the aluminium trim going around the body, running a few centimeters below the sliding windows to the central tail light housing separating the tow colours (none on the door, which would have been the lighter colour only). For the 1957 Export model there was a combination "sandduenenbeige/korallenrot". There also was "sandduenenbeige/weinrot", but weinrot is much darker than what I saw inside your Isetta's body. I think there was no red and white combination, originally. The club's experts will know exactly. You may also consider cutting a fairly sized hole into the sheet metal above the cylinder head to allow for convenient access to the valves for adjustment, as well as to the 3 nuts of the exhaust pipe mounting on the cylinder head's exhaust side. It is not original, but it helps a lot and nobody will see it, since it will be covered by a sheet metal lid and hidden under the carpet in the luggage space.
