The Mini (not a cooper, just “mini”) is a MK3, so roughly 1970-1975. I can’t tell whether it’s a 1000cc engine or an 850cc engine, but it has a remote gear shifter rather than the ‘magic wand’ type so that’d make me lean toward it being a 1000.
The interior is not the original to the car, the seats and door cards are from a mini clubman of roughly the same (and maybe slightly later) age, as is the front bumper. Weirdly it doesn’t have the drip rails on the roof guttering which all (uk spec) minis had from 1961/2-1978, but maybe they weren’t included on export cars🤷🏻♂️
I love the colour though and it looks a relatively easy project to get back on the road, despite the floor pan issue; all the parts you’d need to get it back on the road is easily available and everything that would need done is fairly simple too! I hope you guys hang onto it, would love to see more of it!
Love the videos and love you!:)
My uncle, who passed away years ago, used to sell Isetta’s here in ‘Bula. I really enjoy seeing them because of the connection. Thanks for sharing this one. 👊🏻
Seeing this video, got me thinking about my old mini, that I used to have. Mine was light green. Thank you for featuring such an iconic car on your channel. If you can, you should save it.
I love seeing you guys detail the more unusual cars and work your magic on them.
Good job guys! In my opinion the Isetta is by far cooler than the Mini, because its much rarer.
Two little beauties that deserve to live again ! Beautiful !
Great video, both of these cars are worth saving as they have loads of character and plenty of buyers out there to restore them👍
Great job guys. Your storytelling gets better every time!
Great video as usual the Austin mini has a a series engine and will have a tag on the front of the block they where 850, 998, 1098 or 1275 👍🏻
I love the music. It's calming.
Come on boys, you gotta tell us how you continually get these barn finds! Heck, make a tutorial on your process and charge Tree Fiddy! I'd pay to learn your process.
Very cool find this week.
They've detailed this person cars before and the owner has lots of rare cars that are sitting in storage
Great work guys! I might have seen you guys at one our local car shows recently, you guys should have set up a booth or something to show off your work! Definitely putting some money together so I can get my car freshened up by you guys! Keep up the good work!
What an awesome double feature! It’s great to see these two cars get some love after years of neglect… I hope the Mini goes to the metal shop and gets a new floor, but I really like the paint on it… even if it is a little funky. BMW started making semi enclosed scooters in the early 2000’s but I wish they just brought back the Isetta instead, but it is back as an EV called the Microlino. Both are such cool cars I can’t decedent which I like best!
When i was around 3-4 yrs old my mother had a mini - and an aquaintance to my grandmother had one of these BMW Isetta 'cockpit scooters' also known back then as a ladybug, where the whole fronts opens. The Isetta is such a weird thing, which makes it super cool - even cooler than my moms mini. Thanks for the video - brings back nice memories of people No longer with us👍
Sorry for your loss❤
Always doing a good job, so, these are baby cars, there so cute.
Awesome Finds! 👌 You Guys are Killing It! 🔥
Steve Urkel's and Mr Bean's car in 1 video awesome!
I mean the isetta is interesting. Like the original Smart car for two. But hands down, mini cooper!!!!!
BOTH mini cars are COOL 😎. If I had to choose, I'd say that I like the BMW Isetta the most 🤠
In the UK we call the BMW ISETTA a bubble car, interesting fact too, people used to get trapped in the isetta cars,if you pull up to a wall,or drive into your garage you’d be trapped in the car because they don’t have reverse gear and you couldn’t open the door to get out 😊
The mini is the coolest car out of both of them
This was so cool to see.
I would just love the issta it just so quirky and cute i drive that one.
The miny is amzing to.
You guys do some amazing work.
Just to have a bmw issta in youre shop just amazing.
AMAZING!!! WOW!!!
The very first mini was an Austin 7, it had an 850cc OHV 4 cylinder engine, they eventually grew to 1250 cc is the later mini coopers
1275cc. Mine is bored out to 1330.
Front floor plans on early minis renown for rotting. Water ingress from the window and the external body seams. My first car was a 10 year old 1963 850 Austin badged which I toured around Europe. Have owned a number of minis over the years. Great fun car, easy to maintain for a 17 year old. Love the videos.
Mini is from New Zealand, the warrant of fitness sticker on window is a yearly check in NZ. It's probably a late 70 mid 80 model as it says British Leyland on badge...
NZ would account for differences (no drip rail). Floors like those for wanderer gearstick go up to 1973 (in Eu).😊
Coopers always had twin SU carburettors, so this is not a Cooper, just a plain Austin or Morris Mini. The engine is an Austin sourced A series, which were used in most BMC small cars, such as the Morris Minor, Austin Healey Sprite, Austin A40 and many more.
100 % correct not a Cooper.
Yes in the States they call every Mini a Mini Cooper.
Hey it's the Urkel Car!!
Yes twin SU and two fuel tanks.
Like the banter back and forth between you guys. Sound like brothers.
Both look great
Great transformations guys! I originally thought they shouldn’t be restored but I was wrong.
They are both cool cars 👏👏👏
I love these cars.
In an Irish accent, “Look at the wee little car. So cute.”
The Forza Horizon 3 vibes from the Isetta. I love it!
Mini is the best 🇬🇧
To americans these are mini, but for anyone else outside the US these could be smaller if not normal sized cars. Neat find and they will be amazing when restored!
Absolutely. For European cities, if you never drive outside & don't have 3 kids, they still can satisfy the needs of a lot of citizens.
Great work!
The Isetta is definitely the cooler of the two ! The engine in the mini is a Morris 998cc !!
amazing restoration
Whoever owns that Isetta needs to restore it. Them things sell for big bucks.
Killing the game once again!
The mini Cooper is cooler !
Good job guys 👍👍👍
Great job getting those two back looking pretty good! That Mini is pretty cool!
I love the mini, i think it is worth restoring for sure! Beautiful job!
BMW Isetta is bubble car 🥰
I love old British Cars. I may be a bit biased, though. I do own one myself.
Great Episode! Whoever edited this, deserves an award. It was "perfection!"
I’ve always wanted a BMW Isetta! Awesome video guys.
The coolest one is definitely the Issetta lol.
Austin Mini 1000cc import from the UK made by BL (British Leyland) this car is from the 1960s. Thousands were built and were very very popular due to cheap to buy and run. Worth alot today in todays auctions.
Mini Cooper is the best
The engine in the Mini is an Austin A Series. They could be had with up to 1100cc capacity, but this is likely a 900cc. The transmission is in the engine sump and shares the oil with the engine.
Great job on both cars. The Isetta has no reverse gear so do not park too close to obsticlese.
Its a 1972 MKIII Mini 1000. Has 1000cc motor, 85 cubic inches with a single 1.25 carb. Four wheel drum brakes.
Isetta is the cooler of the two IMO
Have already seen it and is really good detail
The Mini has the best passenger space as it, with its 1100cc engine, was a great British Leyland creation. The BMW Insects with its little air cooled motorcycle engine could transport a couple people to the post WWII industrial complex of West Germany's recovery from the war. I would like the BMW because of its novelty factor. I would like the Mini because it is safer, very nimble, has a heater, and is uncomplicated!
The engine is a 998cc. Looks to be around mid-70’s and RHD so a UK import most likely.
*Runs away with the Isetta in my pocket*.
That cute little thing will always cheer me up & bring giggles.
Mini barn find 😚
These are cool old cars. The isetta has a 2 stroke, 2 or 1 cylinder motorcycle engine. The mini has a 4 stroke 4 banger. The isetta saved bmw because they couldn't sell enough luxury cars to pay the bills. So the isetta was born and the company is still here many years later. The mini is a racing icon as well as a good on gas runabout car and it doesn't need 2 stroke blue oil.
I think the GT on the Mini now means ‘Got Trashed’
Definitely love the mini!!
Mini Cooper for my vote.Still have love for BMW too.Would not throw it out to pasture!
I don't know the BMW, but I was always a mini guy, so ya, I prever the mini.
😢 I was in town today. I’m driving a Motorcoach tour returning home from Vermont. My hotel was 15 miles from your shop. Thing is.. we’re only allowed 10 miles a day for personal conveyance (5+5). Getting to you would’ve been (15+15). Oh well, I enjoy your bi-weekly posts and hope you continue with the great content. KG from St. Louie.
I learnt to drive in a mini in the UK ! That mini has a British leyland square badge on the wing so it could be 1967/70/71 ish !
Mini Cooper had between 30 to 40 horsepower for the early mini Coopers if i remember correctly 🤔 not fast but fun to drive it was a budget economy car
Cool ass cars 2 cars 1 video & the Steve urkel car
Us Brits don’t call it a micro car it’s just called a mini.
As an American boy, we also call things that are small “mini”
Nice classics
Underneath all that nastiness is a beautiful ride, it just needs a repaint that's all.
The BMW, if you're familiar with TV shows from the late 1980's and early 1990's, would be considered the Urkel car. Jameel White's character, Steve Urkel from the TV show "Family Matters", had a car exactly like this. Would love to see a follow-up video about someone buying it and restoring it.
The bmw isetta was featured on the 90's sitcom Family Matters as Steve Urkels car
Great work guys I love watching your channel it relaxes me wish you could come to my car keep up the good work guys
nice
this now has become the only yt channel that only details cars that cant be officially driven on the road
I think the pair go well together, especially for the tiny car collector. Kinda of hard, but I'm more about cutting the cancer off like on the mini's dogleg and the bottom of the doors. But they look pretty great for the original collectors.
Thumbs up, great video ,always enjoy the before and after
My first car was a standard mini 850c.c...we rebuilt the lower 1/4 of the body and subframes...re sprayed it and it sold for 3 times as much as we bought it for....we used the money to get two others.
Two different champs here: the Mini best emulates the practical car in terms of daily driver potential, can go at least 30-40 mph, can haul some groceries, gets you to work in winter; the BMW best emulates a unique weekend hobby 'car' that could otherwise easily live in garage or storage unit.
❤ I love your videos ❤
Your vid’s are fire
I like the I like the BMW more because I'm just a big fan of how the car works
BMW Isetta death trap, for cool car.
Mini are cool period, the BMW i had a friend in Chile that his dad had one and it also reminds me of the show Family Matters where Steve Urcle had one
Hi Wd detailing! From Argentina saying hello. I love your videos. ❤
i want too see the Saab Sonet 3
The isseta is pretty good for you and your friend
You are so good guys! Well done! The Isetta is a Collectors car. You can get a lot of money for that!
I’ve always wanted an isetta since Steve urkel had one
I have a friend with an airplane hanger full of micro cars. He can tell you the full history on every one of them.
Nice job on both ! 👍
Wow you guys actually did a Mini Cooper my dream car. I am very impressed on how it came out I was a little sad to see that the Mini Cooper has YABBA DABBA DOO ITUS. As for your question on what kind of engine the Mini Cooper has it is a 1275 - cc engine. And according to Google it had a 5 and a 1/2 gallon gas tank. The Mini Cooper has been my dream car for almost 10 years and I still have never gotten one. Hopefully I will get 1 in the future [with my favorite paint color].
As of the BMW it's an interesting looking car but it doesn't pick my interest.
Another awesome video guys.
Doesn't matter if already looks 100 persent better than what it was, and worth restoring to its former glory.
wow and zamzam water
Were either of these cars for sale? I would love to own that Mini.
I’ll take the mini thanks 😊
There,are both cool
They are both so cute but my heart is with the mini! I love the cooper model so much, if i was there that mini would be mine already. As for the bwm, dafuq they were thinking back in those days? Like what the hell is that? It's adorable tho. Amazing job on that spray paint, i hope they will get lovely homes after all.
Bmw izetta born out of the suez canal oil crisis. It didn't matter what it looked like or how fast it went(or didn't ) it was all do do with max mpg.
Mini born in 1959 as a more practical answer to the "bubble cars" a lot more refined capable of carrying 4 passengers and their luggage . 70 mph and 40+mpg.
The fact is that the Isetta has a license plate that says KM 12 1957 OHIO. Bruh 5:48 LOVE them both, there CUTE! 5:50
