Having Sun Tzu quotes in a Tips for playing Fire Emblem video is dope af, these quotes really grew on me. Keep going man, you just earned a new subscriber.
I really wasn't expecting the Mozu defense force in the comments! I've added an annotation to include advice that you all have shared. Aside from that, this video is at 9k+ views at the time of this post. I've also caught up on grading homework for everyone who turned it in. Thank you all very much for watching! I'm glad everyone seems to like my drawings. It's given me a boost in confidence with sharing my art especially ever since I changed my thumbnail to Corrin and Silas on a Keldeo. Though, I most likely won't do another video that's completely drawn out like this. For future Exp. Shares, I'm going to try and limit animations and drawn stuff like that to maybe 1-3 minutes. That said, I'm not sure what I should be tackling next. Splatoon? More Smash? Feel free to give me some ideas. I most likely won't be doing another 10 tips video for now just to mix up the Exp Share series some more. - Prof. Don
I'm gonna add some of my own experiences on Mozu. Her Villager class tree is shit, but her Archer line (accessible by using a Heart Seal on her) is really really awesome, especially in Conquest because of all the fliers you'll be facing in the route (with Niles being your only bow user early game before promotion time if you don't reclass Mozu) Also, you won't even have to grind her that much. Just give her exp from her paralogue, and then she can carry herself. Also, if you have a Cupid's Bow from your Battle Bonus' reward, you can cheese the boss in her Paralogue and get her up to level 20 easily (though it'll take quite some time) She's not as strong as Donnel, but she's still a great unit that only needs the exp from her Paralogue to be good. Also she doesn't need to be babied as much as Donnel
+Tâm Trần Good stuff. Mozu definitely seems to have more effectiveness in Conquest. I wish I had known earlier in my run to throw a Heart Seal on her but I pretty much let Niles carry me for most maps. A lot of people don't realize how useful the Cupid's Bow can be for that kind of thing especially in Conquest with limited exp because I'd imagine a lot of people ask, "Why would I want to heal the enemy?" - Prof. Don
+AdamantDitto damn this kinda make me understand the game better cause even dou it's still FE it's pretty different then awakening and I'm Defenetly gonna use my mozu more on they next playthrew barely used her in the 1 who knows maybe I'll make her my waifu in one of them🌚
Laken 64 Cupid's Bow has 1 might, so you may think it's pathetic. But that's the beauty of it. Mozu only needs to hit (even if it's only 1 damage) to get the exp.
Fire Emblem Fates overall has some of the best gameplay in the series. I had a lot of fun playing it. That being said, the story is kinda butt. If you're looking for a story that's decent, you may want to look elsewhere but to be fair Fire Emblem has never really had a fantastic story. It's always been about the fantastic characters. - Prof. Don
Great video! Also the illustrations are well done... Seeing Charizard and Keldeo as mounts kinda fulfills my wish of a Pokemon x Fire Emblem game since both have rock-paper-scissors and RPG mechanics...
I really love the way of presentation in this video with the chalkboard and the cute drawings. Seems like there's lots of effort put into these. Makes it really enjoyable to watch, even though I already knew all of these. :D
Nice high quality video, I've been a fan of Fire Emblem since 6 and I think this guide is probably the best for anyone old and new coming into FE14... because dear god this games learning curve was stronk
Great and informative video, subscribed after this one. Really helped me out, as I love Fire Emblem but had trouble adjusting after I wanted to take the game a step forward and use more tactics and strategy.
That art is amazing, love all the Pokemon that some of the characters are riding. I didn't know about the tiny sliver of color for the weapon icons, so that's cool :) thank you for showing that to me.
I just watched this for the lolz since I beat all fates paths already, but really this was really well done! And your soothing voices! I think I will come back to this video just to relax again!
Thank you so much, this was very very interesting. I also enjoyed Sun Tzu's quote so here's another from you. You probably know it already, it's from Benjamin Franklin : "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail."
+samthehamm No problem! When I was writing the script for this video, I didn't originally intend to have those quotes until I found that they are really applicable to a strategy game. Makes sense. Shoutouts to Sun-Tzu. - Prof. Don
+Karsten Ngai-Natsuhara (Videogamer80) This. The only time I paired my units up was to set up 2 high Defense charcters to sponge up damage and lure out enemies.
I just learned that tip at 4:18 the other day, really helps for maps where you're clustered together and can get a better support than the one it's defaulted to!
I made Mozu a master of arms in my run. Having the ability to have an advantage over every weapon carrying unit is pretty great and "luckily" my mozu had high defense and strength. This meant she could deal insane amounts of damage with 'life and death' as well as being able to withstand some hits. She was also pretty slippery with most enemies having about a 70% chance to hit. She wasn't as good as Donnel but she was actually pretty good for me
+Mauricio Gonzalez The enemy AI can just chuck dudes at you without a care in the world. It's like they're playing on Phoenix mode and you're not! And hey, thanks for watching my vid! - Prof. Don
I think another good tip would be that you need to build as much support between units as possible. Especially in Conquest, child unit chapters are extremely good for grinding exp. Most people don't really take advantage of it, but you come out of it with bonus EXP for you units and a powerful new child one too.
I have been playing fire emblem for about 10 years and I thought that this list wouldn't be useful at all. I personally did not learn anything, but you had good tips that I have not seen on other lists.
I love your art and these tips will help me a lot! thank you!. And I know others have shared their Mozu stories... but I gotta share mine since the Witch DLC just came out and I turned Mozu into a Witch and she is kicking butt with one of the highest critical hit chance I've ever seen. (or it just happens to activate a lot during my playthrough with her.)
I really liked your video. I never caught on to those colors indicating the weapon triange, and I keep forgetting the ranged weapons. Really helpfull!!!
Tip 3 is the one thing I don't see a lot of people doing so thanks for mentioning that trade trick Also I like the chalk designs for this, it was charming
+Wesley Darnell It actually surprises me that people don't know about it because it's been in Fire Emblem games for a while! I showed a handful of people previews of this video and they told me they didn't know about that trick. And thank you! - Professor Don
I've been playing Birthright since I never finished it and also every store in my town sold out FE3H (I want a physical copy). And adamantditto? Never heard of him before but this video is really good, the drawings are great! Think I'll have to skip calculating the res+def+hp of every attack though :(
I actually didn't know about that trading one! I'm sure that'll come in handy at some point. But otherwise, all of this is really solid advice, except for the edit part about Mozu, she actually does do really great, only as an Archer through using a Heart Seal, but I think you are right about her in the villager tree though. I mainly just level her to 10 to get Underdog, and then heart seal to archer and level to 20 from there.
Because of Anna and her arms sroll, you can have up to 3 archers by the infamous chapter 10, and you get a free arms scroll which, let's face it, chances are the only other person who's using it is Elise, and there are a few more arms scrolls available later on. Also, Mozu's recruitment chapter, if you're patient enough, can get her to level 10 or so. However, because of this, she's absolutely not worth using in LTC runs
+NiktenPixellePerfect Thanks! Maybe Nintendo should bring back Pokemon Conquest with Fire Emblem characters instead of Nobunaga and friends. Although... I don't know how I feel about a certain existing Fire Emblem crossover. - Professor Don
+AdamantDitto Tokyo Mirage Sessions? Blegh... the Western release name is short of being Tokyo Massage Sessions... which totally changes the whole connotation of the game XD
Regarding Mozu, I think she works well as either Merchant (for free money if you get lucky enough) or Master of Arms (for full weapon triangle coverage). She's also a good Dread Fighter if you have DLC.
Very useful video and the artwork was both helpful and unique. Now only if this better understanding of pairing up applied to smash so I don't get bodied by the enemy team while my teammate stands there not following up on my combos. :)
Firstly I have to say that these annotations are amazing, and while the video itself is well explained, the artwork really takes it to another level. Anyway, if you're going for LTC, Mozu is probably too much trouble, but if not, then there are two main options. Archer, or Partner/Friendship Seal. OK, that's 3 options, but still. Of course she's not as broken as Donnel was but seriously Second Seals in general were OP in Awakening. You could have ANYONE reclass at base class lv.10 and they would break the rest of the game because of how the XP scaling worked. That's to say nothing about purchasable Nosferatu among other things. But seriously I like to have her spend some quality time as a Great Knight to increase her bulk, since she has such absurd speed growths to begin with. It's true that by endgame you'll mostly be relying on like Corrin, Velouria, Xander and so on though.
Mozu becomes a badass sniper, with a 50% crit rate if you give her a killer bow. And considering she almost always hits twice you can expect a critical. If u friend/partner deal her to Oni savage to learn death blow and then go back to sniper, she has a crit rate in the 70s. Which is absolutely insane. It's true that she can't take too many hits though, but she is still an amazingly powerful unit.
6:28 Technically it does not do 3x Damage straight For Supereffective weapons, it re-calculates the Dmg it would do, but tripling the MIGHT of the weapon. So it is calculated [(Attacking Unit's Str + (Wep Might * 3)) - Defending Unit's Def]
tbh mozu as a sniper is really reaaaaallllyyyy good, and if you marry her to siles you can reclass her to gel luna and that other paladin skill which will make her an amazing unit with greast df and crit rates, and and amazing mother too, trust me mozu is amazing if you make her a sniper
11:06 Important thing I recently realized while calculating stats: Don't forget about the weapon triangle when doing calculations! I had a Witch, and while she had enough Speed to attack twice and kill an enemy on the follow up, I was worried the enemies counterattack would kill her before she was able to make her follow up attack. So, after doing a calculation, I determined that the attack would JUST BARELY fail to kill her in one shot: it would bring her HP from max to _ONE._ But that'd be fine, because then she'd just survive and do the follow up attack. So, I teleported her over by using Warp (that's the entire reason I needed to do the calculations myself. Once you use Warp, you can't undo it). Then, I realised the attack would only bring my which down to like 4 HP, when I had thought it would be 1. I thought "That's strange, I guess I must've done the calculation wrong?" But then I realised something. Because I was using a Witch, she, of course, could only use Tomes/Scrolls, which are red. And my enemy was holding a spear, which was blue. In a TREMENDOUS moment of luck, the scroll she was using just so happened to be Calamity Gate, which reverses the weapon triangle. This was why she would have 3 extra HP after attacking. But then I checked the battle prediction for if she was using any other of the scrolls she had: She would've died. If she hadn't been carrying the Calamity Gate scroll, she'd be COMPLETELY dead, guaranteed (you can't move after Warping, and I had no nearby units other than the one that I'd already moved, attacked, and used as my Warp point).
Unfortunately, Fates isn't out where I live just yet. But, I'm probably gonna be re-watching these tips over and over again to drill them into my head for when I do get either Birthright or Conquest... cause I'm not sure which one I want at the moment. X3
+Sheree Smith I think Nintendo/Intelligent Systems intended for most people to start off with Birthright, especially for fans who were introduced to the series through Awakening. Conquest is designed to be more for veterans. Aside from that, I personally like the Nohr royal family more. - Prof. Don
+AdamantDitto Seems so. For a noob like me, your tips are so helpful! So, I thank you for making this video. ^-^ You are fantastic. Can't wait until Fates comes out here. I wrote down all your tips for when I get Birthright.
and im sorry, here i am again, but with the seals, i would recommend promoting with master seal as soon as level 10, just so early in the game (which is when you get alot of base class characters) you can get proficiency in other things late in the game. like with effie, you can promote her to general for axe and spear proficiency i think as soon as about chapter 10 if you use her often in paralouges the that feature Mozu and Kana and the story chapters
Love a lot of these tips; especially the one about leaving a space open after your character gets a crit. Although I reclassed Mozu to archer after she got Underdog and had a lot more success in leveling her up as opposed to Donnel. Donnel couldn't ever survive shit for me for some reason. Great video though! :)
Mozu makes a GREAT Archer in this game. Sure you start out at weapon rank E - but if you can train her to weapon rank D or C than she can bulldoze. And her promotes are great too, she being the only one to get Kishie Knights in Conquest (great for supportive as well as Bow + Lance combo + another flying unit) or Sniper (Niles is better though). 100% Worth the Heart Seal. Is there a quote about knowing your allies and their potentials?
+AlphaWolvesGamer I kept reading in guides that Mozu "sucked" and wasn't worth it. If you make her a sniper, give her the right weapons, and maybe buy her some castle skills, she curves out nicely. I know it goes without saying, but having 2 bows in a conquest playthrough is a God-send. I think people SAVAGELY underestimate Aptitude in fates, even the character it's originally attached to. I usually got 4-6 stats per level up for Mozu, and that made her an above average unit.
Jamick98Geass the fact is - if you don't use her the moment you have access to her, her usefulness drops off hard. She starts at level 1 and is extremely hard to train without her accidentally dying. Aptitude is a great skill for her simply because of her exponential growths. It isn't Awakening level insane, but its still a good amount. Kinshi Knight as a unit is great in Conquest, and an arrow is always awesome. I always user her.
Commenting on a 6 year old video lmaoo Anyways use auras! Elise's personal lily's poise with demoiselle and inspiration late game has the following bonuses on male units, -6 damage taken and +3 damage dealt ( i haven't taken advantage of this personally since i made elise a wyvern rider on lunatic for the earlygame stat boost)
Going to nitpick at the fact you showed Kaze using Leathality during the attack stance demonstration, which is impossible. I learned nothing personally, but I can see how this is very useful. Oh and cute art :D
Are abilities based on character rather than class in this game? I got Saizo levelled up as a Master Ninja, and he got Lethality, which he passed on to Asugi. Shouldn't Kaze also be able to get Lethality then?
TheSkySigma It's possible for Kaze to not get Lethality if he class changes into something else besides Master Ninja and leave him out of said class for the rest of the game. Otherwise, if he class changes to Master Ninja, he'll get Lethality at level 5 or above.
+AllThingsReezy +TheHylianGamer Glad you fellas liked my Arthur! Good thing I used him a lot in the video (totally not out of laziness :P). - Prof. Don
I want to comment on the second seal thing when it comes to Awakening. You showed that you need to change your class after getting a 2nd tier class to level 20, and then change it back to the original class. I don't know if you actually did it like that, but I wanted to say that all you had to do is use the second seal to change the current class back to the same class so it can be level 1 with no stat changes.
Eh I've seen that Mozu can be a monsterous hero or master of arms if you give her the pargon skill (from the Another gift form Anna DLC) early on. I did and I don't regret it.
Just started playing Conquest. I immediately regret my decision as Takumi and the stupid Pegasus keep on no scoping my units at the first map as Nohr. Jesus Christ this will be fun.
Mozu is a great unit in my experience for Birthright, but for Conquest, you might have second thoughts. Due to Conquest's limited exp points, I can't rely to her a lot. On my first Conquest play, I made her into a kinshi knight which probably is a big mistake. She is powerful, but she also has low HP. I paired her to Kaze and Midori became more powerful than Mozu. On my second play, I paired her with Niles, because I need a powerful bow user because Hinoka's chapter. Once I recruited Nina, I stopped using the parents. I might use Mozu again if my final lineup is incomplete. Nina with Aptitude turned out very good. She's one of my most powerful units now, but again, HP problems. Adventurer level 9 with only 30 HP. Might make her into a Merchant to increase her HP pool.
number one tip Luna+Astra+Vengence+Counter+Galeforce+Pavise+Aegis+Sol+Sword breaker+Axe breaker+ Lance breaker+Bow breaker+Tome breaker+all the flairs+ dragon skin= Naga, Anklos, and Grima will tremble in fear
tip #3 is news to me. also for #5 it seem like when I play the A.I. loves to send weak units to take my guard gauge to 0 then hit them with a stronger unit. (just my experience)
These chalk illustrations are dope. Funny too.
I honestly never noticed the background colors for weapons being the starter pokemon colors and representing the weapon triangle until this.
Me neither, also this is rezzy from SF?
What about weakening the enemy units with my other characters, and then letting Frederick finish them off?
*Now that's strategy*
lol yup
Ah young ones. Always so oblivious to strategy.
Frederick doesn't need you to weaken them. he just needs to get in there and slaughter them all
@Zxylo 5 how is that a woosh? there's not really even a joke
Pick a god and PRAY! - Terminator 2014 (?)
Those chalkboard animations are adorable! Also, I never thought about using the trade mechanic to change the equipped weapon. Thanks for the tip.

You did a fantastic job, Don. Also, I may be a little biased, but I am totally in favour of a Splatoon video. :3
+I_LikeCheese Using Donnel wsa much more risky than Mozu, but he rawarded you more, because Aptitude was so OP

I have cheat codes. We can be friends ditto.

+Don Albert Quiatchon Maybe one day! Marth could have an Aegislash and Ryoma could have a shiny Clawitzer.
- Prof. Don
*looks at Pokemon Conquest*
.... it could happen.
Don Albert Quiatchon, Apparently, they had planned on a crossover, but decided to make SMT x Fire Emblem after the release of Conquest.
I mean pokemon conquest was pretty much like a pokemon x fire emblem game
The production value in this video is absolutely top notch. It's a bit slow paced but overall enjoyable and informative.
I really love the way of presentation in this video with the chalkboard and the cute drawings. Seems like there's lots of effort put into these. Makes it really enjoyable to watch, even though I already knew all of these. :D
So mucheffort and quality in your videos. You deserve more subs and attention!
The calculator says "Boobs"
Well played, AdamantDitto.
THANK GOD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED XD
Very helpful for beginners and very neat/clear illustrations.
+I fight for my friends. Do you have friends?
Murth Yes, and I fight for all of them.
I fight for my friends. How many?
Murth All of them, as long as the player resets after each death.
I fight for my friends. Lol

Really nice stuff! Loved the art, funny jokes, solid tips that should be useful when Fire Emblem: Fates gets released in Europe in 2019...
I completely forgot Europe doesn't have Fates yet. Thank you Nintendo for keeping my video relevant!
One month today...
Awesome video! Ive played through Fates a lot but never noticed the weapons color thing :p

Your Sun'Tzu portrait looks like Confusious. Anyway nice drawings and nice video. =D
i looove the art of you video! especially the weapon triagle art love it
That one's pretty popular and I'm glad because I worked really hard on it despite it being a generic thing to draw. Thanks raf!
- Prof. Don
Great video
The drawings were really fantastic
what's stupid about the dual guard is the fact that you can waste a dual-guard on an attack that does 0 damage. LOGIC!
Regarding Mozu, I think she works well as either Merchant (for free money if you get lucky enough) or Master of Arms (for full weapon triangle coverage). She's also a good Dread Fighter if you have DLC.
love the artstyle
Very useful video and the artwork was both helpful and unique. Now only if this better understanding of pairing up applied to smash so I don't get bodied by the enemy team while my teammate stands there not following up on my combos. :)
+Caden Wilkerson I legit laughed when I read this. Thank you :)

I really loved the drawings, especially kaze's animations
Thanks Amaterasu! Kaze is such a boss so he deserved the work I put into the animations.
- Prof. Don
Hey, I really appreciate the feedback! Quality information too.

+Hankcolewu A 70% Crit chance? That sounds very promising. Can I assume this is just using an unforged Killer Bow?
6:28
Technically it does not do 3x Damage straight
For Supereffective weapons, it re-calculates the Dmg it would do, but tripling the MIGHT of the weapon.
So it is calculated [(Attacking Unit's Str + (Wep Might * 3)) - Defending Unit's Def]
+Business Doge Thanks for the breakdown. Extra credit for you!
- Prof. Don
tbh mozu as a sniper is really reaaaaallllyyyy good, and if you marry her to siles you can reclass her to gel luna and that other paladin skill which will make her an amazing unit with greast df and crit rates, and and amazing mother too, trust me mozu is amazing if you make her a sniper
yo great video man thanks for the tips
I really need to buy the book you've been mentioning
your art is sooooooo good!!
this needs more views
and im sorry, here i am again, but with the seals, i would recommend promoting with master seal as soon as level 10, just so early in the game (which is when you get alot of base class characters) you can get proficiency in other things late in the game. like with effie, you can promote her to general for axe and spear proficiency i think as soon as about chapter 10 if you use her often in paralouges the that feature Mozu and Kana and the story chapters
Liked for the keldeo in the thumbnail
DAMN i love the pokemon for mounts >3< its amazing also I loved the video it was awesome~
Mozu works great in conquest; reclass her into archer and have a ball on chapter 10.
You forgot about shigure buddy
+AlphaWolvesGamer Selena also has access to kinshi knight through pegasus knight on conquest.
now i understand why starting with awakening instead of fates was a good idea
XD your calculator said 80085. I see what you did there.
+The Unexisting I was wondering when someone would point that out! Good catch.
- Prof. Don
awww elise has a ponyta!
your drawings and pokemon inspiration are cute xD
Commenting on a 6 year old video lmaoo
Anyways use auras! Elise's personal lily's poise with demoiselle and inspiration late game has the following bonuses on male units, -6 damage taken and +3 damage dealt ( i haven't taken advantage of this personally since i made elise a wyvern rider on lunatic for the earlygame stat boost)
this video is awesome i love the graphics
Going to nitpick at the fact you showed Kaze using Leathality during the attack stance demonstration, which is impossible.
I learned nothing personally, but I can see how this is very useful. Oh and cute art :D
Are abilities based on character rather than class in this game? I got Saizo levelled up as a Master Ninja, and he got Lethality, which he passed on to Asugi. Shouldn't Kaze also be able to get Lethality then?
+TheSkySigma All Master Ninjas get Lethality at level 5 (or later than that if the character switched to Master Ninja late)
+ChaosGallade So then why would Kaze using Lethality have been impossible?
TheSkySigma It's possible for Kaze to not get Lethality if he class changes into something else besides Master Ninja and leave him out of said class for the rest of the game. Otherwise, if he class changes to Master Ninja, he'll get Lethality at level 5 or above.
+ChaosGallade Okay.
That Rinkah doodle :3 !
+Le Dom I personally adored the Arthur one, it looked so funny
+TheHylianGamer Had that signature smile while he's just taking hits lol
+AllThingsReezy aruther in game always does a little bit of multiple hearty laughs before doing any block for a main attacker
+Le Dom I'm glad you liked it considering I only had her for that one small part, heh! :3
- Prof. Don
Almost anyone can do that given Paragon
Mozu can get life or death and spendthrift. Put those skills together and you get +20 damage.
number one tip Luna+Astra+Vengence+Counter+Galeforce+Pavise+Aegis+Sol+Sword breaker+Axe breaker+ Lance breaker+Bow breaker+Tome breaker+all the flairs+ dragon skin= Naga, Anklos, and Grima will tremble in fear
tip 10 Definitely helps for takumi his fujin yumi almost always crits along with ryomas rajinto
Ryoma got once Astra with 3 crits at a boss and i was like "calm down bro o.O"
-Astra
-CRIT
-CRIT
-CRIT
-dead
lol #MLGryoma
tip #3 is news to me. also for #5 it seem like when I play the A.I. loves to send weak units to take my guard gauge to 0 then hit them with a stronger unit. (just my experience)
I knew most, if not all of these, but I stayed for the cute doodles.
+Kellam Thanks! I gotta say, I love your name + avatar.
- Prof. Don
holy shit im half thru lunatic on classic and i dont even know some of these
xD great job!
Great video :)
I like to lower stats with shurikens or knifes, and them attack with a lower damage unit. Like Azura. And defend them with a strong unit like Effie.
From what i heard Mozu is most useful in Conquest-Chapter 10 if Change'd into Archer.
Due to have 2 Bow Users that can Activate Ballista.
But the right ballista is not so great to use at start, the real worfy there are the archers
Oh thank the lord that chapter 10 isn’t the new average difficulty
If Silas really did ride Keldeo, I'd probably use him more often.
The turn wheel in echoes really spoiled me when it comes to getting bad level ups in fates
