Considering how Boba Fett mentioned that Mandalore was turned into glass, I think most of the galaxy would assume it was completely uninhabitable, creating the perfect place for Thrawn to hide out. There's a Chinese saying: the most dangerous place would be the safest place. Thrawn could be hiding under their noses the whole time

I love how Mount Tantiss is like Area 51 but in Star Wars. A secret research complex with secret vaults containing artifacts, documents, technology and laboratories. I hope we get to see some weird stuff being held and studied there. I think it'd even be a fun idea to tie in some loose ends pertaining to the Zillo beast arc of the Clone Wars.

I had the same idea when I watch that scene the mountain was clearly big enough to house one if not use it’s armor to make storm trooper armor as some secret force of the empire that would hunt down the remaining Jedi.

@@Jediwhoever1 I have a feeling the new canon is trying to justify the whole existence of the First Order and Snoke/survival of Palpatine and how it swiftly took over the Galaxy after 30 years (or after 50 years, from the perspective of the end of the Clone Wars). The amount of sheer power the Empire secretly had in form of housing technology and studying ancient science could've gone completely under the New Republic's radar. It would even add up to Beaumont Kin's line in the Rise of Skywalker: "Dark science, cloning...". Granted, the Kaminoans were the true pioneers in cloning technology but ultimately the Sith were the ones to research it thoroughly through research facilities and complexes like these. And to think the Rebel Alliance had many chances to uncover some of these mysteries, like when Rogue One infiltrated the vault on Scarif. I feel like one of those project names like Pax Aurora or Mark Omega could've unveiled what the hell was going on behind the curtains.

I think what LucasFilm is doing is a reworked & canonized interpretation of the Heir to the Empire Trilogy using Clone Wars + the Bad Batch, Rebels, The Mandolorian, Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka as "Prologues." It accomplishes two things. The first is that it gives a more satisfying sequel series to the Original Trilogy for those disappointed by the actual Sequel Trilogy. The second, answering unanswered questions and adding lore that make the existing sequels more palatable. It's honestly a win/win.

@@lineclosed1576 This is what I have been trying to say to some people who are persistent haters on the Sequel Trilogy. Look I enjoyed it for the most part and think all the characters had some good and bad and at first I was excited for the Palpatine return (I loved the Dark Empire Comics and still own some original prints) but thought it fell a little flat when they shoehorned it in but yes this is a way to help correct that and flesh out the story the way the Clone Wars did. And I think that was always in the cards for them all along. I don't try and scream and yell at Disney the way people do for "ruining" Star Wars." Yes they are a monopoly and mega-corporate conglomerate, but that is a whole other fight. I genuinely think that while yes some poor planning had its hand in the way the ST panned out, I also think they took a queue from George and said "well even if we don't tell the viewer everything, George didn't, and he was able to get spin off shows and more material out there to help supplement and expand on that character people seemed to like but wasn't developed very well," in shows like the Clone Wars and Books. And they were dealt a bad hand when Carrie died that soooo many people don't take into consideration. Force Awakens was a rehash a little, but introduced some exciting new themes and characters and paid homage to the Expanded Universe us older geeks felt nostalgic about (Kylo being the heir that turned to the Dark side etc.). And people can say what they will about Last Jedi, I'm not here to argue that point. But Ep. IX I think was them trying to honor Carrie's legacy, make her a Jedi (essentially) and give her a lightsaber (posthumously) and have that saber and her on-screen brothers, be the thing that ultimately was what brought the Emperor down. Yes it was shoehorned in there but give them a break. It was a good concept that would have been better if Carrier were alive but now at least we can play fill in the blanks a little. My head cannon would love for them to now introduce the escaped clone of Palpatine who will someday grow up to be Rey's dad. And maybe we see an Emperor's Hand be the one to help him escape ala Mara Jade, Rey's mom. See that would help make things interesting for the Bad Batch and again satisfy some of the purists while help add some substance to the story that originally was interesting but fell flat.

  • @takodahager4165

I would think it would probably be more important to the mandalorian's story rather than the bad batch. Yes it's still possible Tanis could bring a huge challenge to the batch but given the timeline, it makes more sense for the mandalorian. We don't know what quality of cloning the empire had before the original trilogy but based on what we've seen in the mandalorian and episode 9, it's not great but I'm sure it's better than what they started off with. The empire could have some pretty messed up bad clones running around during this series, rebels, and the original trilogy but I think this will impact the mandalorian more than the batch. Plus as u mentioned, it'd be a great Segway to reintroduce Thrawn in the mandalorian. I feel while including him in the bad batch would be epic, it wouldn't mesh well. It would be more appropriate to include him in the mandalorian. But I trust Filoni either way

    • @michaelramon2411

I suspect there's probably a mix. The Bad Batch probably have to assault or infiltrate the facility at some point, rescue or kill Nala Se and perhaps destroy some Imperial cloning projects, dealing Imperial cloning science a blow that it never truly recovers from. Then it can come up again in the Mandalorian, since the Empire can always just clean up the corpses and get the facility working again.

Thrawn is definitely one of the most underrated of all the villains, he just provides entertainment, and he's just a brilliant leader. However, I don't think Thrawn would personally want to fight the New Republic, as in canon he is more loyal to his people than the Empire. He regards the Empire as an "asset" to the Chiss. Maybe Thrawn is using whatever is left of the Imperial remnants to gear up for the Grysk?

I don't know where this is all headed, I don't want to overextend my hand on saying all this is building towards Thrawn creating a clone army to take on the New Republic in The Mandalorian or Sidious creating clones and/or Snoke or both. I personally didn't read Heir to the Empire but I know the story and about Wayland and Mt. Tantiss so I am excited to have more Legends elements coming back into canon. I actually have the same feeling I did when they revealed Thrawn was coming back in Rebels and I loved that return.
Whatever is going on, I'm interested to see what Nala Se will be doing for the Empire AND I have no doubt that at least for the moment, whatever she's working on will have Sidious' fingerprints all over it and he will be directly involved although I do think it would be a nice touch if there was an acoylte of his monitering the operation for him like there was in Legends or maybe even Joruus C'baoth could return, some Force sensitive being overseeing everything. Maybe it could even be an Inquisitor, they report to Vader and therefore the Emperor as well so it would make sense to have one of them keeping an eye on things, especially if Palpatine is looking into creating Force-sensitive beings.

If the Empire is interested in continuing cloning (aside from the uber top secret Palpatine clones) then I would think they'd be trying to create an obedient version of Clone Force 99/The Bad Batch. They were the only clones Tarkin seemed at all interested in as they're basically super soldiers, but their ability to question orders was a big negative for him.

This is what I have been trying to say to some people who are persistent haters on the Sequel Trilogy.

I hope they do not try to retcon/explain Luke in TLJ by doing the "certain point of view" thing. The Luke we met felt off for a lot of fans and even Mark Hammel dubbed him Joe Skywalker (or something like that). I hope they do not go back and say that the Luke we saw in the sequel trilogy was actually a clone from Tantiss.
Completely different easter egg nod, was Weyland named after the corporation from Blade Runner and Alien? If so, that's a good meta nod for a place that spawns "replicants".

Just had a thought. Though unlikely, do you think it's possible that the Luke we saw in the mandalorian season 2 was actually "Luuke". I think that would kinda make sense. Din somehow finds out that jedi was a fake working for the empire and has to go try and retrieve Grogu again from the clutches of this imperial fake and from there on out keeps Grogu for good. Give him an excuse to fight with that shiny new darksaber he just got too. I may be reaching but he, who knows!

Disney is trying to slowly make the sequels make sense with these shows, sorta like how the prequels are remembered more fondly because of TCW. The problem is the prequels we’re always one story in George’s head that took decades to be fully realised, the sequels are spin-off cash grabs that Disney’s trying to shoe horn in

No. We already saw Ezra’s use of the dark side in seasons 2 and 3 of Rebels. This would be a ripoff of Ezra and Maul. He rejected Palpatine and Maul’s offers
Also, let’s make it clear. Only sith or dark jedi can turn someone to the dark side. Thrawn is not a force user, so he can’t do it. Ezra may have already been a Jedi Knight or Master during his jump to the UR.

I expect there will be horrific failed attempts at cloning. I think we'll see the remaining clone babies, but not in a good way. We might see the Emperor, but I'm hoping we don't see or hear Vader.
We might see captured Jedi and other force sensitives being experimented on. Lots of Jedi & Sith Artifacts.
And I want to see Nala Se running things but manipulating things so there isn't too much success, and the failures are so terrifying that even the Emperor agrees they must be destroyed.
Ultimately, realizing what Palpatine is after, she causes something severe to happen that will force the base to be abandoned.

  • @Chaosmage42

I think that they would be fools not to try and adapt the thrawn trilogy. let us all look at what star wars has done so far -after the disaster of the sequel trilogy the well received rogue one and the tepid solo movie then the success of the mando shows and the obiwan series that what people want is 3 things, one -war is hell and covert ops stuff, 2 jedi doing jedi things and bounty hunters, and the thrawn trilogy could be the perfect blending of these 3 elements, first consider that the millitary elements and tactics are exactly what thrawn is known for second jedi being jedi like obi wan and luke could be done by ashoka and ezra plus mandalorians were part of the republics clone army you could weave thse together any way you like it combined on top of which you could have elements like talon kard and bounties on his crew ect. i think its the logical plan and choice and this means we might get some more characters like peleon and even a mad jedi master like cubouth

I really hope they don't botch Thrawn just to appeal to his legends lore, because the current crop of Thrawn books we have don't paint him in an evil light, more of as a brilliant military leader who sees the empire as the best bet for helping his people fight what they are fighting.
Disney said that moving forward everything would be canon, and if I read those Thrawn books, and fell in love with the characterization of the character only to have him turn up being a downright bad guy just because it will be very disheartening.
