This song made me fall in love with the sound of the low d whistle, fells like flying ... since yesterday I finally have a low d of my own (a plastic one though) - now I need to work out the fingering with my rather small hands, but Dunmore Lassies and Jock Stuart were the first songs I tried to play on it :-) Hopefully someday it will sound as dreamy as David's version
Plastic flutes are good als well, Meene. And try to spread your fingers, not bend them. Did you see this tutorial? ruclips.net/video/MSgeyqatEZ4/видео.html
Yes I did see the tutorial, but the ornamentations are still too much for me, so far just playing the basic melody, but that's starting to work without hurting fingers, so all good. Was hoping to observe David in Selm, but not a single low whistle tune :-( But was great anyways :-) And it's really cool how you guys motivate so many people to pick up their old instruments again and to try out new ones (both true for me) or even try to learn an instrument for the first time ever
I've seen the bodhran being played. and that guy was not playing the bodhran. he was drumming. and if you play percussion, like I do, you hear the percussion in every song. you're drawn to it magnetically. and unfortunately, this was one of the rare times where I wish I couldn't hear it. he was terribly overdoing it. @@RAPALJEmusic
Funny how I am about to move to a place thst has a moor and over a decade ago I ran into this guys working on a medieval christmas market.
This calms me, feels almost ethereal. Felurian would dance to this kindly. Thank you for sharing your gifts.

@@RAPALJEmusic Sorry Rapalje, but the tuturial by Stephanie Burton (Cutie Pie) is much better. Are you now going to remove this comment again ?
How are you going with your low D three years on?
Probably the best song I've heard live, the melody gives me goosebumps.

Is het een low whistle in F of in D? Zo mooi!
Hallo Ineke, Het is een low whistle in D. We will do a Rapalje Show about it soon
Leuk! Ik kijk ernaar uit :)
that drummer needs to stop.
There is no drummer, Desperate Run. Only a bodhrán player
