thought the title meant "4 milliseconds" at first, I was like "how is a delay with a 4ms interval weird" lol wonderful sounds, like that stuff around 1:00 that was so cool Edit: to be fair a 4 millisecond delay would sound very odd because 4ms is such a short time but it still wouldnt be a conceptually weird piece of gear
I don’t comment much on RUclips. Career lurker you might say. Andrew, the level of excellent creative choices in the entire video: cinematography, editing, music, and teaching has compelled me to come out of hiding. You make my life better. More inspired. More curious. More open. Thank you.
Honestly I think your weird gear and 4 producers 1 sample series are 2 of my favorite things that exist right now. So much creativity and all in the name of good clean musical fun^^
I tried this out the day it hit stores, didn't really get a handle on it right there and then but I could see the possibilities and bought it on the spot. I never regretted it. A lot of people I know bought this module and sold it on quickly - or tried it out in a store and found it hard to control. Patience is a virtue. It's a subtle beast and needs to be handled properly. Being heavy handed with it gets out of hand quite quickly - which is great sometimes! This module is an absolute mainstay of my live sample based system and I would seriously miss it if it suddenly wasn't there. Great review. P.S It's not weird - not to me anyway :D
I really like how you have the video ends with you taking out all the patch cables. It seems like a very ritualistic way to say good bye to that patch. I feel like it helps with closure that you'll probably never see that patch again
I don't ever seeing myself getting into modular synths for creating music, but I love most of what comes out of it and how artists who use this kind of equipment have the know how to make it sound as great as possible.
I've never really had an interest in synths, like ever. But you have a knack for making information easy to digest even for non enthusiasts. I dig your vids man, there's so many cool instruments out there!
GOD DAMN! HOLLY F' THIS SH'T!!! It is a super heavy machine gun WEAPON for SynthWave, Electronic background music, Space Music... It is not a weird gear! It is a supermassive WEAPON in music! Everyday people would KILL for a thing like that even in a software audio plugin form. (if it would be exist)
I recently started trying to make my own videos of gear etc and damn you make look so easy. I have a whole new appreciation for your content haha ITS SO WELL LIT
@@remic6376 If you have access to a good set of headphones or speakers and you watch any sort of video that requires you to listen critically to the details of the sound in them to properly experience the video, you should use them. If not, you're not really watching the video to its potential.

Minecraft finished loading in the background (after over 20 minutes, because modpack) the second the video got to the final display of sounds. That song and the Minecraft menu music fit together well enough to be quite worrying.
those overlays at 6:35 are really cool, love your editing! Did you use this guy in Alabaster at all? edit: actually maybe he used it in Synth City since thats recommend in the end screen
@@TheBigLou13 I think I've seen a similar thing/option (the layer blend modes) in image editing software. I use that a ton. Good to know you can do similar things with video. Thank you. :)
The module is worthy of discussion. I thought it was going to be just another tap-tempo delay module. It reminds me of when Yamaha put a pitch wheel on a drum machine... brilliant. It sounds like a great module to use as an external effect for just about anything.
Andrew Huang aka Spaghetti Patch Kid . Seriously i don't know how you make sense of these patches with like 5 different colors and 30 different cables , i'd find it impossible to keep track of it all .
I'd love to see more videos about this thing! This one is really especially cool. I hope they make a VST emulation of it in the near future. I'd totally buy that.
Hey Andrew, I have an interesting idea for a musical challenge for you. I would like to see you try to make a song on your modular synthesizer using only a single tone that you then turn into all of the different sounds. I have to imagine most of the difficulty would be in making the percussion, but I think the idea would be an interesting creative challenge.
Pretty dope delay module, would love to play around with one but it's just too expensive. At least that gave me the motivation to try to create a virtual emulation of it, so that's nice 👍
Easy doable in reason with the drum sequencer and the standard delay in reason that can be on, crossfaded in or... Tap :) run through vocoder linked to a midi knob
So today I finally got my ears syringed (it was _abso-fucking-tastic_ ) and this video happened to be the first thing I played in my headphones on the bus journey home. Today couldn't have been a more perfect day!

Just managed to buy on eBay for £249 Inc postage. No brainer! One of the most interesting modules around. Come to think of it this, when it arrives will be my 5th 4MS module. SWN though prob not my next module will likely be my next 4MS?

A 4ms delay would basically become a comb filter.
Damnit not again
@@matt_sexton lol Teo I think you're cursed or something (or we have similar viewing habits lol)
correct, sub ~10ms is basically comb filter. nothing really weird about it.
@id523a what's a flanger without LFO modulating the timing? right, a comb filter.

Good god, it's a gear video. Not exactly the Mona Lisa or War and Peace. No need to prostrate yourself on the ground and grovel.

This is great. The track totally gave me a modern 80's luxury vibe

Andrew is uploading really frequently. Has Christmas come early or have I died and gone to heaven?
maybe both
I hope its the Christmas one

Hopefully it is Christmas because people like you deserve to be immortal ;)
Was recently thinking you hadn’t done a “Weird Gear” ep in a while. This one sounds really great! Thanks, sir!
the track at the end is such a nice tune that hits my soul
Next time on WEIRD GEAR: Andrew hooks up his brain to a machine that sucks the music out of his soul

I love the fact that the videography is getting to be so entertaining to go along with such great content. It feels like a really good MV
I love the way you plot twisted the weird gear sound, I expected it to be normal but it was ran through the tapographic delay effect.
The final sounds are so similar to Daft Punk! I loved it!
Feeling just a touch inadequate with Ableton's Delay effect right about now...

Lmao, dude you managed to sell that module to me in literally 5 seconds (that tap delay!!!)
besides your beastly talent, whoever is filming and editing (you?) its fking the shiznit. Quality.
4:06 - This was the kind of dark magick I was wanting to hear.
