  • gorgeous and wonderful ... as expected: the artist edition of David Mazzucchelli's (and Frank Miller's) groundbreaking Batcomic: 4 issues that set the standard, now in a format that sets a new standard as well. It's even bigger than all the bat-artist editions before... at least than the ones that I own.

Just read David mazzucchellis book (paul austers city of glass). Loved it and recommend it! Definitely one of my favorite artists

I wish that they did an Artist Edition of City of Glass. Although this Batman year one is amazing, Mazzucchelli's art style is at it's peak when it is like that cartoony "bigfoot" minimalist style featured in City of Glass and Rubber Blanket.

IDW also did a Daredevil Born Again artists edition about 10 years ago, and they're bringing that back in to print.

Looks pretty incredibly. These volumes are just too pricey for me to buy any more. So I am crossing my fingers for a peasant "artisan edition" some where down the line.

I’ve been hoping for this book for years! It’s fantastic! I love the artist’s edition format and this is one of the best.

I got mine yesterday but haven't opened it yet. It's pretty huge. It's definitely my favorite Batman story ever (next to Batman #232). My aunt sent me a TPB of it in 1988 and I still have it. I didn't get the story back then but loved the art style. I also have that absolute version. Good stuff Mr. Earl.

My first artist edition, and I just can't stop studying the line work.

It looks stunning! I don't usually go for art books or artists editions, but this one might just need to get into my collection.

You don't know what you're missing! I have a Buscema and Michael Turner artist edition and they're both amazing.

Hey, nice review, thanks. One correction-Graphitti Designs did not do Artist’s Edition until years after IDW. The IDW books were the first, starting with Dave Stevens’ the Rocketeer. A minor point, but I’m biased.
