Totally wrong, Sweden has a total of 55,000 soldiers plus those who have done their conscription 10-15 years back in the time that can be called up, so let's say in a fully functioning mobilization, Sweden could field a total of 65,000 thousand (just today) In 2028, the Swedish force is to total 100,000, which is still too small. Between the 1950s and 1970s, Sweden was able to mobilize 800,000. And in addition, Sweden has a force of 23,000 men in peacetime. Then it is calculated that they will be able to mobilize 70,000 in 2025 from today's 55,000 och
you pull numbers out of your ass this nato decision was made by politicians & the onces who made it are just in charge cause of anti eu & anti nato party which has the 2nd highest number of votes. The will to fight in this country is nonexistant neither will we fight for others which will be quite telling if something ever happends.
The number in the armed forces is totally wrong. There are around 20k active soldiers and there are around 6-8k troops that does conscription each year since like 2016. About 50k in the homeguard which is the volenteer force, but ever since the war in Ukraine the recruitment office for the homeguard units have been overwhelmed with applicants and now there is basically a waiting list for years in some parts of the homeguard. Sweden had around 500 cv90 before donating 50 to Ukraine, Sweden had 48 Archers (and 48 more on order) before giving Ukraine 8.
Let's not get into numbers only but the hearts of the Swedish are brave and they are well trained in harsh conditions. Germany failed in Russia mostly because of the cold. I bet they are in total a great addition for NATO, let the vikings in the north be our shield
Its awesome to see the Baltics united for the first time in hundreds of years. Amazing. Welcome to the team 🙌. P.S. Those Archer systems are INSANELY good.
Sweden has around the same number of fighter jets as Britain has, despite being seven times smaller than Britain in terms of population. That's a rather disturbing thought as discussions rage about how underfunded and underequipped the British armed forces are.
All of Europe has similar issues. Germany was demilitarized, cut up and then told to fight for America despite being the main target of nukes not only from Russia but also France & America. Rest of europe all cut military spendings and none of us got any richer for it. The only way we've gotten richer in the past 35 years has been through technology, but even that has had a serious social and cultural price to pay.
Sweden's airforce, and armed forces in general, are set up to be purely defensive. It has very limited surveillance and EW, only training capabilities for air to air refuelling, no anti-submarine, and minimal transport; they simply didn't expect to need these as any conflict they'd be involved in would be on their own soil. They bring exceptional quality to NATO but in the event of a conflict would be reliant on other nations to provide these capabilities. For comparison, the RAF's fixed wing transport fleet has 70 times Sweden's lift capacity over twice the distance.
The research in The video is a bit sloppy i cant lie. For example while The strv122 series is based on The leopard 2a5 it has been imporoved significantaly before being delivered and then modernised to be equivalent or better than The 2a7 so calling it a leopard tank is "wrong". Sweden also has mandatory defence positions for pretty Much everyone between 18 and 70 something iirc while not all of Them would fight they all would serve a purpose in defence
What are Swedens strengths, you ask? 1. Its not dependent on the USA for weapons. Like Finland, its self sufficient. 2. It has a 400,000 reservist force that is fully equipped including wealons and can be mobilised at two weeks notice and they do regular training with the permanent force. 3. They hate Russians, and like Finland they are experts on arctic warfare. 4. Their young people take defence seriously and join up to fight, not qualify for free college. 5. They are politically neutral still and have no delusions about the danger from Russia. If you were a country at risk, and you wanted three countries to be beside you, they would be Sweden, Finland, Poland and Australia.
The strength of sweden ammounts to how much the politicians open their asses to mass-immigration and defend it with nato . No revolutions against current regime can happen usa armies are legally allowed boots on the ground + immunity from law

I wonder if it would be possible to set up factories in other NATO countries and license build some of the Swedish military systems. Three main ones come to mind. - JAS 39 Gripen E - CV90 IFV, they've worked on variants with 120mm main guns that give the light vehicle the punch of a MBT. - Archer 155mm Mobile Gun System which according to the AFU is one of the best they have received in aid.
That’s not true. Its Army is being overhauled with conscription being reintroduced recently in 2018. The only thing going for them is their Navy and Airforce. So not the most advanced in the Europe-YET.
Those corvettes also have stealth and gives off a very small radar echo, we've shared intelligence with NATO for decades, JAS Gripen has been NATO compatible for years as Link 16 was introduced a couple of years ago for NATO compatibility. So, joining NATO wasn't much of a surprise for us who have worked in the Armed forces.

Welcome Sweden! Sweden brings some capable weapon systems to the NATO alliance. Now the northern flank is reinforced. The Gripen E variant has some advanced sensors and capabilities, thought to be equal or near equal to the F-35's advanced sensors too. Sweden's Gotland class subs are no joke. 1 of those managed to sink an American aircraft carrier (and I believe its escorting fleet of vessels too) without the latter knowing during a wargame exercise many years ago. The US Navy later asked to borrow the sub so that they can actually learn how they were sank and what their vulnerabilities are.
Sweden has an Army under big changes. A lot of new equipment coming in, and a lot of new soldiers. This years conscripts will be the biggest group in many years. We also have new subs on order, 2 in and 1 going obsolete. So we will soon have 5 subs. Also, we have 4 new corvettes on order. Some of the biggest ships in the Navy. What I'm saying is that Sweden is going from 1% of GDP to 2%, with indications that 2% will not be enough. So come back in 2 years and it might look bigger.

Sweden should expand conscription. They have very small manpower. Conscription is also good to connect people from different groups and social glasses. In army everybody is equal. No matter what religion or color you are. In Finland almost every man serve in military.
The video is not correct with its information. The Swedish Armed Forces are made up of 24,400 active personnel, 11,400 military reserves, 21,500 Home Guard and 5,200 additional conscripts yearly into the Reserves (set to increase to 8,000 conscripts yearly by 2024) as of 2022. With the recent massive increase in military spending (dubbled in the past couple of years, aimed to be 2.1% of GDP by the end of this year) You can count on that number being even higer than that as we speak, and drastically increase in the following years. Also worth mentioning is that our military is based and constructed on needing fewer personel, take the rearming of a Gripen that can be done in
So many of these stats were so wrong with lower numbers than it actully is. For example it's more than 14k active personel, its 26k, and it's not 26 archers, it's 72 where some of them were donated to Ukraine. Its also more than 319 CV90, closer to 450.
Definition of quality over quantity. A fantastic military that will make a fantastic ally. More than anything, I'm excited to see the Gripen brought to NATO. A very impressive aircraft that will be a huge bonus to Europe's already pretty damn awesome aerial-combat capabilities.
There is also the home guard of some 20,000, know-how and capacity to grow. During the peak of the cold war, they had 500,000 mobilizable troops and spent 5% of their GDP on the military, including an air force of over 1,000 Swedish-built jet fighters. This may not be what is needed in the 21st century of course.
As a Swede I am just happy that NATO can now more easily defend the Baltic states. I am only pro joining NATO because of what Sweden can do to help others. Solidarity. Otherwise I do not think Russia would even have a chance taking Sweden, even without NATO membership lol.
The selection-rate for conscripts is spiking right now. Last year 5,5k was selected for conscripts, this year it is close to 7k. Percentage-wise its going up as well.
back in the day sweden could mobilize about 800k strong military in very quick time, there were weapon storages in forrest all over the country, fighter jets hidden in the forest all over the country from south to north, then open the forrest drive out fighterjets and away it goes on the highwayroads

More like 90.000 including conscripts today.
@@petter5721And around a tenth of what it was during the Cold War.
you pull numbers out of your ass this nato decision was made by politicians & the onces who made it are just in charge cause of anti eu & anti nato party which has the 2nd highest number of votes.
For an such an alledged "small" place, Sweden's world famous armaments industries punch far above their weight!

Welcome Sweden love you from 🇯🇴
Feel so much better that Sweden is in NATO! Shoutout to Sweden from the U.S!
Välkommen Sverige. Bra att du har dig hos oss. Starkare tillsammans.
Let's not get into numbers only but the hearts of the Swedish are brave and they are well trained in harsh conditions. Germany failed in Russia mostly because of the cold. I bet they are in total a great addition for NATO, let the vikings in the north be our shield
Super Troupers?
Its awesome to see the Baltics united for the first time in hundreds of years. Amazing. Welcome to the team 🙌.
P.S. Those Archer systems are INSANELY good.
Sweden has around the same number of fighter jets as Britain has, despite being seven times smaller than Britain in terms of population. That's a rather disturbing thought as discussions rage about how underfunded and underequipped the British armed forces are.
We really don't get much bang for our buck in the UK do we lol
We're a broken , toothless dog that still likes to bark. On its last legs...
@@garysmith5025 We are acutely aware , thats partly why we joined UK's JEF initiative
The research in The video is a bit sloppy i cant lie. For example while The strv122 series is based on The leopard 2a5 it has been imporoved significantaly before being delivered and then modernised to be equivalent or better than The 2a7 so calling it a leopard tank is "wrong".
Sweden also has mandatory defence positions for pretty Much everyone between 18 and 70 something iirc while not all of Them would fight they all would serve a purpose in defence
welcome sweden ❤❤❤

400.000 reservists, they got such a massive mobilization force!? Also, you mentioned 4 countries at the end 🙃
The strength of sweden ammounts to how much the politicians open their asses to mass-immigration and defend it with nato . No revolutions against current regime can happen usa armies are legally allowed boots on the ground + immunity from law
Finland is self sufficient for everything but fighter jets
We have patria that makes vehicles
Our ships are built in Rauma shipyard
Weapons manufacturers TIKKA and SAKO
Bullets and shells are made by LAPUA
Most capable country to join Nato in years apart from Finland.
Im a Swede but I agree! Finland is a notch above what Sweden brings to NATO and we are brothers so together we bring a big punch ♥

What Finland bring in military buildup Sweden compensate with strategic positioning.
Sweden Is strategically more important for NATO when it comes to supporting the Baltic states, NATO's Achille's heal.
🇸🇪🇪🇺👍
I wonder if it would be possible to set up factories in other NATO countries and license build some of the Swedish military systems.
Three main ones come to mind.
- JAS 39 Gripen E
- CV90 IFV, they've worked on variants with 120mm main guns that give the light vehicle the punch of a MBT.
Thanks for the video and kind words!
Sweden, Norway and Denmark brought vikings on NATO's side.
they are not viking anymore :). their man's asses more pink from their girls.
Invaded just like the uk. More crimes and killings than ever. All Sweden have done is inherent the 200 trillion n4to debt
Along with Finland which were swedish during viking age. (lost to russia in the last war with them). Also Baltics was viking area. Even Kiev was founded by vikings. We're come to defend our thousand year old settlement. ;)
@@macjonte Ahem, the Viking Age lasted till the 11th century. Finland came gradually under Swedish influence starting from the 12th century -- although the start date is sketchy, too, as Sweden probably made up its first 'crusade' to Finland. The conquest, if you can call it that, was complete in the 13th century only.
I wouldn't go boasting about the present Baltic states being under the Vikings either.

Wow...200 years neutrality. That tells you how serious ww3 has become.
Not even during the height of the cold war did our leaders consider signing away our neutrality. Those guys had balls and conviction they stood for something

We've had 5k conscripts coming in every year, and that has been increased to 10k now. We have around 30k active men in the field and 40k reserves, so that's wrongful information.
The forces are growing but slowly as a lot of basesvand training facilities where disbanded and it takes time. Just the last years several army units has been re-established as well as one more AF flottila as the air force is growing
This is a huge gain for NATO!

Your numbers are way off!
There are many more troops in Sweden both full time, part time, reserv and (hemvärn) National Guard.
Dont forget, we will never give up.
great
Can everybody just join NATO so we can finally have peace on earth.. The fact we have to have a NATO is truly sad 😔

Splendid news. Great addition with an accomplished military. It ties up the Baltics.

Sweden should expand conscription. They have very small manpower. Conscription is also good to connect people from different groups and social glasses. In army everybody is equal. No matter what religion or color you are. In Finland almost every man serve in military.
They have doubled the conscription numbers as of this year
The video is not correct with its information.

There is also the home guard of some 20,000, know-how and capacity to grow.
