    This was released in 1984 their age was around 15-16 at the time. One of the spin off groups was BBD with hit songs , I Thought it Was Me, Do Me, and Poison

    They have a bunch of hits from this era. There's Mr Telephone Man and Is This The End along with the other songs mentioned below.
    This genre of music was made especially for kids. This genre was known as "Bubblegum music." It was innocent and clean while talking about young love.
    There were other groups that had Bubblegum music as well. But we'll discuss them another time. I'll just say that Bubblegum music evolved to become more sophisticated thematically, lyrically and musically.
    I remember when these songs hit the radio. It definitely brings back memories of when I was a young teen, just like them.

      The Sequence (Angie Stone aka Angie B, Cheryl The Pearl, Blondie), UTFO, Whistle, The Force MDs and Doug E Fresh too... Teena Marie- Square Biz (1980) had singing mixed with a rap.
      Fun Fact: Bobby Brown with the dunk on a ten foot hoop at start of video. NE brought basketball to the music industry. All the current MTV basketball events and various annual celebrity basketball tournaments started with New Edition...word up!

    This is my all time FAVORITE N.E. song, and yes they were young. But they had an album out before this. Check out "Candy Girl", "Popcorn Love" and "Is This The End?". They were practically babies 😊❤.

    Oh man, these are the guys!!! These guys are something special. To anyone out there who is looking for a phenomenal wonder group from back in the day to investigate. Listen to their music. It shaped my generation. New Edition had a journey, they are beyond amazing. They expanded and leaped decades in this genre and had multiple hits that my family, friends and I totally enjoy. They are JEWELS!!! Believe. Worth digging deep into this group. You will not be disappointed. Godspeed. Great review Shawny, as always. Namaste!

    Loving your facial expressions throughout this reaction. I think a lot of people were surprised at how high Ralph's voice is, but they drew millions of fans, and admirers; especially from the female fan base; I don't know anyone who didn't have their poster plastered on their wall.     NE was 14-16 years old during this video. NE was one of the first groups (UTFO, Whistle, Force MDs, Doug E Fresh) to mix singing with rapping in songs. My Secret (Didja Gitit Yet?) & Mr Telephone Man are 2 more videos from their 1984 album you should react to in the future. I'm Leaving You Again from NE's 1984 album was sampled by Bow Wow/Ciara- Like You. The entire album is on point even the songs that don't have videos (Delicious, Maryann, Lost In Love, Hide & Seek, Baby Love, Kind Of Girls We Like). Fun Fact: Bobby Brown with the dunk on a ten foot hoop. NE brought basketball to the music industry. All the current MTV basketball events and various annual celebrity basketball tournaments started with New Edition- believe it or not.

      Also, Blondie with the song 'Rapture'. In fact, she may have been the very first to incorporate 'modern' rap/hip-hop with singing. In that song, her rap paid homage to Fab-5 Freddy and Grandmaster Flash.

The Sequence came out with Funk You Up in 1979, Monster Jam ft Spoonie Gee in 1980, And You Know That in 1981 & Funky Sound (Tear The Roof Off) in 1981.

    This song came out in 1984, so the original group, the ones in the video, were somewhere between 14 and 16 at the time. Ronnie is the oldest and Bobby is the youngest.

    When this video came out their ages ranged 14-16. Over 30 years later they released a video for "This one's for Me and You". New Edition (minus Bobby) performed the song but it was on a Johnny Gill album.
