Your reaction is PRICELESS when those little girls came around. Go back and watch your face! You like "hold on-y'all was just getting on him, and look what y'all doing!" Priceless!
This was released in 1984 their age was around 15-16 at the time. One of the spin off groups was BBD with hit songs , I Thought it Was Me, Do Me, and Poison
They have a bunch of hits from this era. There's Mr Telephone Man and Is This The End along with the other songs mentioned below.
This genre of music was made especially for kids. This genre was known as "Bubblegum music." It was innocent and clean while talking about young love.
There were other groups that had Bubblegum music as well. But we'll discuss them another time. I'll just say that Bubblegum music evolved to become more sophisticated thematically, lyrically and musically.
I remember when these songs hit the radio. It definitely brings back memories of when I was a young teen, just like them.
I'm 43 and I was probably 5 or 6 when this came out. I remember this like it was yesterday 😍
New Edition. The Group Who 1ST Incorporated Rap With R&B. Before Them It Was NO SUCH OF A THING, NO ONE THOUGHT OF DOING IT, IT WAS NEVER DONE!
And Shawn, Look at the Girls with All The NATURAL HAIR.
They don’t get enough credit for that
The Sequence (Angie Stone aka Angie B, Cheryl The Pearl, Blondie), UTFO, Whistle, The Force MDs and Doug E Fresh too... Teena Marie- Square Biz (1980) had singing mixed with a rap.
Fun Fact: Bobby Brown with the dunk on a ten foot hoop at start of video. NE brought basketball to the music industry. All the current MTV basketball events and various annual celebrity basketball tournaments started with New Edition...word up!
@@IceManLikeGervin word up son
Had to lol when you said heard it at your Grams house … lol I’m a Grams and I remember listening to this lol …. Feeling old lol
This is my all time FAVORITE N.E. song, and yes they were young. But they had an album out before this. Check out "Candy Girl", "Popcorn Love" and "Is This The End?". They were practically babies 😊❤.
Their other song Count Me Out was kinda like this one except with a different ending!!! One thing about Bobby he's gonna be himself no matter what
I loved watching Bobby when they were all together. He was always doing ‘extra’ stuff (even during the choreographed group dances). Gotta love Bobby….and NE too😍
count me out is my FAVORITE!!!!
Yaasss, my favorite group 🙌🏽. I’ve been rocking with NE since 1983! You couldn’t tell me Ralph wasn’t singing every song to me 😂. If you’re going back to their earlier hits please react to Candy Girl, Count Me Out, Is This The End, and Mr. Telephone Man 🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
NE4LIFE!!!
Oh man, these are the guys!!! These guys are something special. To anyone out there who is looking for a phenomenal wonder group from back in the day to investigate. Listen to their music. It shaped my generation. New Edition had a journey, they are beyond amazing. They expanded and leaped decades in this genre and had multiple hits that my family, friends and I totally enjoy. They are JEWELS!!! Believe. Worth digging deep into this group. You will not be disappointed. Godspeed. Great review Shawny, as always. Namaste!
Loving your facial expressions throughout this reaction. I think a lot of people were surprised at how high Ralph's voice is, but they drew millions of fans, and admirers; especially from the female fan base; I don't know anyone who didn't have their poster plastered on their wall. Fun reaction as always😄👍🏾💯

@@mushmouth610 The 80's and 90's were the best, but love the 80's💯
@@mushmouth610 And FRESH magazine too...
@@IceManLikeGervin
Yes! I forgot about Fresh magazine! 😊
They are still great. They're older, but never lost a step.
I can't explain it but everytime I see New Edition I always remember back to when they were kids. Me sitting in front of the TV watching them.
Take it to the very beginning of New Edition with Candy Girl.
Fact: New Edition not only made an appearance in Knight Rider (Knight Song) but their appearance was central to the episode plot.
My favorite Knight Rider episode with Ralph, Ronnie, Ricky & Mike as co-stars! Knight Rider was one of the biggest tv series that teens watched back then.
NE was 14-16 years old during this video. NE was one of the first groups (UTFO, Whistle, Force MDs, Doug E Fresh) to mix singing with rapping in songs. My Secret (Didja Gitit Yet?) & Mr Telephone Man are 2 more videos from their 1984 album you should react to in the future. I'm Leaving You Again from NE's 1984 album was sampled by Bow Wow/Ciara- Like You. The entire album is on point even the songs that don't have videos (Delicious, Maryann, Lost In Love, Hide & Seek, Baby Love, Kind Of Girls We Like). Fun Fact: Bobby Brown with the dunk on a ten foot hoop. NE brought basketball to the music industry. All the current MTV basketball events and various annual celebrity basketball tournaments started with New Edition- believe it or not.
Also, Blondie with the song 'Rapture'. In fact, she may have been the very first to incorporate 'modern' rap/hip-hop with singing. In that song, her rap paid homage to Fab-5 Freddy and Grandmaster Flash.
@@fidel2xl The Sequence (Cheryl Cook aka Cheryl The Pearl, Gwendolyn Chisolm aka Blondy and lead singer/rapper Angie Stone aka Angie B) was doing it before Blondie who came out with her song Rapture in 1981. The Sequence came out with Funk You Up in 1979, Monster Jam ft Spoonie Gee in 1980, And You Know That in 1981 & Funky Sound (Tear The Roof Off) in 1981.
@@IceManLikeGervin - These were all before my time (including Blondies's "Rapture")...but most definitely, the songs you mentioned means even more songs to add to the list.
"Cool It Now" is the lead single from NE's self-titled second album (1984); the song peaked at #4 on the Hot 100. Please react to New Edition - "Hit Me Off" and "Hot 2Nite."
This video and song is when they first came out they was so young than love this song 🔥🔥🔥🔥
New Edition "Still In Love"
Yeah they were everything when I was a little girl lol 😆 My favorite was a song called “Delicious”. The harmony was amazing 🤩 Thanks for bringing back those memories. Try “Mr. Telephone Man”. Bobby was going off lol 😂
I looooooooove "Delicious"!!!! Such an AWESOME song.
Delicious in a very underrated song off of their 1984 album...the harmonies are on point especially at the end of the song. They should perform that song live in their concerts.
Omg you just unlocked a memory 😳 😍
Candy Girl is their first song! Banger!
Been waiting for this one! 😁 Loved this reaction. All Smiles ❤ Bobby dancing cracks me up 😂
Edit: Reaction suggestion,
Fantasia "When I See You"

80’s N.E we’re my favourite ! Can never go wrong with Mr Telephone man, another trackaaaa 🔥
Check out "Candi Girl" that put them on the map after that there was no stopping them. And Bobby Browns first solo "I need a Girl Friend" which established him as a solo artist. BB was 16 when he did " l need a girl friend"
My Aunt Courtney is in this videoooooo The first girl they showed with the denim jacket and red shirt! lol i always make her tell me about this day cause its soo epic!
Omg ❤️❤️
This is the greatest Supergroup of all time.
You also should react to New Edition's "Mr. Telephone Man" and "Candy Girl".
❤❤ react the Jagged Edge "I Gotta Be" from thier 1st album!! 10 albums later they're still 🔥 but they had me right from the start!!!
This song came out in 1984, so the original group, the ones in the video, were somewhere between 14 and 16 at the time. Ronnie is the oldest and Bobby is the youngest.
Actually Ricky is the oldest and Bobby is youngest. And when Johnny came in, he was oldest. It goes Johnny, Ricky, Ronnie, Ralph, Mike and Bobby.
True.
Ronnie DeVoe born 11/17/1967
Ricky Bell born 08/18/1967
I didn't mention Johnny Gill because he isn't part of the original group and wasn't part of the video/question.
Real music
Thanks for reacting to my request ☺️
When this video came out their ages ranged 14-16. Over 30 years later they released a video for "This one's for Me and You". New Edition (minus Bobby) performed the song but it was on a Johnny Gill album.

React to New Edition-Mr. Telephone Man♥️
Make sure you check out the Ralph Tresvant "Sensitivity" Extended "Human" Remix w/Bobby Brown video.
This was 83'. I was 15 then and i believe they were between 15 and 17 at the time.
Gotta do Mr. Telephone Man by them. That was their next hit after this.
It was a lot of good music during this era. I have someone I think You might like. His name is Chuckii Booker, And the song is ,"Turned Away" And "Games"
Um, i have to push back. Chuckii Booker didn't come along until about 13 years after. The genre is also different as well, Bubblegum (early New Edition) vs R&B Pop.
@@SlimDaddy9 I didn't say he was during this time. I was just suggesting someone for him to listen to. I know when Chucky Booker was out He was out in the '90s during the New Jack Swing Era
@@SlimDaddy9 And also I'm not saying Chuckii Booker music would be considered New Jack Swing. He was just out around the same time that genre of music was popular. That's all.
Mr. Telephone Man!
Classic!! Check out 'Count Me Out' as well
Definitely check out Bobby Brown “On Our Own” !!
Classics joint they were teens here Check out: can you Stand the rain and I’m still in love wit you
Johnny gill - my my my

Wait until you react to "Candy Girl" that was their breakout and first hit. That's when I fell in love 🤣 You HAVE to react to that one. They were like 12 in that video
young Bobby Brown right there before becoming the bad boy of R&B. SO used to the older New Editon but the group had to start somewhere back in the early 80's between 1981-1984

Let's go to school, this was there first major hit, they where by the dude star who seen something in them. There voices where yooung as was Ralph's vocals. This was the beginning of greatness.
If you think this crazy listen to Thier first video candy girl that video ages raged 12-14 (1984)
You have to check out Is This The End by them. One of their first hits that had us going crazy!
This was in 1983, they were like 13 and 14
More NE from the early 80s:
Count Me Out
Mr. Telephone Man
Jealous Girl
Check out IS THIS THE END by new edition
There’s no way that’s Ralph Tresvant natural voice. There’s some kind of studio manipulation going on with the pitch/octave😂
😂😂😂
Can you react to more younger new edition
React to their song Is This The End
Can you please react to Word to the Mutha by Bell Biv Devoe? Definitely a banger 🔥🔥🔥

This was thier 1st music video.. New Edition, The Boys... every boy group during the 80s sounded like Alvin and the Chipmunks. I think it was the audio technology at the time. Aug 6th 1984.
This isn't their 1st music video 😂
@@exyaviles869 You're right... I forgot about Candy Girl. Cool It Now and Mr.Telephone man was their big hits.
@@googlek1 Candy Girl was their biggest hit though, it overtook Michael Jackson (Billie Jean) on Billboard's R&B chart for #1 song at the time...it also charted worldwide. Also, Is This The End, Popcorn Love & She Gives Me A Bang had music videos from their debut album in 1983.
