    I love watching you butcher the plant. It shows confidence that the plant will grow back in the pot. Also it gives novice like me confidence to work with my plants.

    I just wanna say, the world is such a stressful place these days and watching your videos, or just listening them into the background makes me feel better. Maybe it's just the change of pace of hearing someone talk about keeping things alive and thriving. I don't know, but I appreciate it and the plant advice.

    All of your info is so amazing. You’re the first channel I go to when I’m curious about plants and every time I succeed in my planty projects!!
    I’m 💯 a noob when it comes to plants but you make my plants seem like they’re grown by an expert.
    I made terrariums for my propagations using old glass candle containers and enclosed them and placed them on the wall by my tropical and succulent sides to absorb the light that hits the wall to make my limited space look more decorative and fully uses my extremely limited space to its fullest.

    It gives me panic to watch you chop your plants up. BUT I love seeing how they grow a few months later. Like it's ok, they won't die 😅. I appreciate that you always take the time to show your progress in the same video. Very few youtubers do that. Thank you for sharing 🧡

    4:52 as a professional gardener, seeing you do these extreme propagations is so satisfying to me. I hate when people just cut the tops off of their plants, especially the viners, because all it does is leave you with a visible point of branching, whereas if you cut close to the base, it's not so noticeable and you get way more material. yes it takes long to grow back, but most people propagate because the plant grows too large, right? so that's a bonus too! I guess I'm just so conditioned to find compact and bushy plants better because that's how they're grown for selling in nurseries. There's actually a chemical that sometimes gets sprayed on certain plants to stunt their growth, which makes their internodes much shorter so they're more compact.

    For someone who doesn’t have the patience to be gentle a good chunk of the time I actually appreciate how rough you can sort of be with your plants when you propagate them. Plus I love this video because for the life of me I could never figure out how to propagate peperomias plus the tip of propagating them when they come home so the propped plants would be more acclimated to your home :) love it thanks for the useful tips!

    Love love love this! No, it doesn’t stress me out to see you “butchering” your plant especially if you get 21 babies from 1 plant! That’s super exciting. It’s apparent you love your plants and know what you’re doing so please don’t let other plant lovers that might do things differently stop you from doing what you love 🪴 I subscribed and I love your studio.

    I’m new to owning this plant, but I repotted the three plants in the one I bought the day I brought it home. I use a mix of coco chips, coco coir, perlite, and worm castings. So far, I’ve got several new leaves popping up and they’re very happy with such a fluffy, high drainage soil that stays moist but doesn’t stay wet at all.

    Once again, I love the way you follow up and show the results. I love peperomia, but the problem with them is that they all eventually want to flop over. I think in a wild state, they must flop and re-root, forming beds if conditions are right. My peperomia is leggy, but cup shaped at the same time, and it has inflorescences. So, I assume it is healthy under an LED, but I am going to give it less light to get new leaves that are not cup shaped. My disappointment with it is that I want a nice bushy plant that will last longer than it does, without starting to flop. I'm going to have to get brave and cut it up.

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  2 года назад +1

      Leggy could be due to low light? Since its trying to reach out. I would propagate and grow in different conditions just to see what works best. Do share with me the results if you find something. 😀

    • @dominicflorio5708
      @dominicflorio5708 2 года назад

      @@onlyplants I think leggy was the wrong word. The leaves are cupped and it is close to an LED. After a good examination, I would say that it has tall stems. I think moving it back a little from the light and cutting it back, as you did with your mother plant, may help.

  • @irairod5160

    I find that those halves (without the petiole) that you discarded will also root in time. I nestle the cut end into the medium, making sure that the "point" were the petiole was attached is touching it. The new baby plant will grow from that "center" of the leaf area.

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  9 месяцев назад

    I love your videos! I like your easy going nature and sense of humor.
    ANYWAY! hehe, THANK YOU for this video. I got a variegated ripple peperomia and it has lost lots of leaves since I got it :( It was so beautiful! It is so freakin' delicate! I thought it had a pest so I moved it for a bit away from the warm window and then it lost another couple leaves (probably lack of light). Oh my goodness it's just been a JOURNEY.
    I know this isn't even about my kind of peperomia (I cant find much info on variegated ripple peperomia) but I think that it did NOT LIKE THE CHANGE OF ENVIRONMENT. it may not like my dense soil aaaaand it came to me in a pretty big plastic pot so I may need to repot! I wish I could get a consult or something!
    OH! I did take cuttings, like maybe 12 and only 1 is surviving! It was in water for about 1 month and nothing was happening, but it was staying alive, so I put it in soil a few days ago and I just see NOW that it has a teeny tiny root! I brought it up a bit so that new babies are closer to the surface.
    Oh boy, I didn't mean to make such a long comment!

    Wow! it seems I have been waiting for this video for forever. I will definitely try to propagate first the next time I buy a peperomia. Every peperomia rot and dies on me.

    Good evening. Congratulations for the video.
    When is the best time to do the propagation?

      You can do it anytime as long as you can give it light, natural or artificial. They do well in cooler temperatures (think AC room) rather than hot actually.
