  • It's the 2019 revival of "Plant One On Me" AND it's Valentine's Day, so I thought I'd go over my favorite genus of plants-Peperomia. In this video I highlight Peperomia natural history, like where they're from and how they grow; care tips for succulent and semi-succulent Peperomia; and even touch upon Peperomia propagation. Some varieties featured here include popular ones like Peperomia obtusifolia, Peperomia caperata-and less common ones like Peperomia dolabriformis, Peperomia prostrata, Peperomia incana, and more.
If you really want to nerd out, then you'll have to tune into the next couple episodes, which will go over some of the Peperomia that I have around my home.
If this video was helpful-give it a thumb's up!
    Oh, the wardrobe:
    - Organic cotton dress by my designer friend of BIRD in Australia. She does all her own prints.
    - Belt by Christian Siriano, using handmade bark, sourced from the second company I co-created: www.lesouk.co

What is the best way in your opinion to propagate peperomia prostrata? If you propagate it by laying it on the soil, should the soil stay moist or rather dry? Thanks for your help!

Thankyou again!! Loved this video, as I've been starting to think about adding a few peperomia varieties to my collection! Thank you for the brief plant backgrounds too, makes it so much easier to know what varieties to go for because we live in a pretty harsh zone. We're in WA, in Australia so I'm always pushing plants to the extremes; seeing how much they will tolerate too before needing more attention. I've found; it is also amazing how much a plant can differentiate from another that's the exact same species all due to the soils and humidity of the area, you wouldn't even guess they were the same haha.

I want to show this to my sister sometime in good spirit... She recently lost a peperomia she's cared for for over a year in her tiny basement apartment. It was actually growing until she had to move it to another home for a bit. So many factors there: could have been different light, heat, and adjusting watering habits to its' new place. I hope she doesn't give up hope growing them!

This video is so helpful! I've recently purchased my first ever Peperomia ~ caperata 'Lilian'. It was looking so lonesome, bone-dry and wilting, stuck on a lightless shelf in the local supermarket plant section ~ I couldn't resist! It has perked up and thrown up many more inflorescences within just a few days. I'll let it settle for a couple of months before repotting in the free-draining mix you recommend! It's plant passport is 'Netherlands' (most of garden centre & supermarkets plants here are Dutch bred).

Hi from Puerto Rico 😃🌱 I'm very happy that I found a RUclips channel where I can learn more about plants; I love nature and mostly plants: My favorite are, hanging, succulents, red/violet stems and medicinal.
In the month of April, I went for a walk with my father-in-law and I took a cutting from a strange plant growing from a rock. I thought " ... this is going to be a difficult one to find out ..." No one could tell me at least the common name ... I planted it and it is happly living in my backyard 🧡
Thanks to you I fell in love with peperomias and today I randomly found this episode "I 💙 peperomias" and GUESS WHAT!!?? Is a Peperomia blanda 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
thanks for charging so much info 🙏🌱🧡💚💚🌱

This was fantastic, I feel more confident for sure! I got a few rare vining terrarium-type Peperomia species recently (tovariana and caespitosa among others), and someone gave me free Pep. maculosa seeds that I lost for two months in a sphag-filled deli cup but just found this week and they were already sprouting! Really excited for all of them. I think my favorite might be Peperomia sp. "Banos, Ecuador", but there's just so much to enjoy. I will say that I lean towards the vining species (your jamesoniana is so pretty!!) but graveolens is a new wishlist plant for me!!

I found you tonight via an Huffpost article link. Subscribed before watching because I discovered the name of the plant that fills my house! It's the variegated peperomia you have in the 'breast vase.' it's a funny story how I went from NO plants to a jungle of these. I was working as a personal trainer in 2000 at a gym with no windows. Suddenly my boss swiped the tiny, sad plant on her metal desk into a trash can. "I give up on this thing! It's been almost dead for a year!" I, who anthropomorphize everything, rescued it out of pity and took it home. It settled right in and grew like crazy. Whenever my cats or kids broke a piece off, I stuck it in water, waited for roots, and in this way 20 yrs passed. I've given many away, several are quite large, some have grown into and around and through plant stands, and that 2" trashed plant has more than shown its gratitude - yet until tonight I never knew its name. Thanks!
