@@frankschmitz6117 lol... each to their own. I love ABBA, grew up with my mother constantly playing them on the Bang & Olufsen turn table - so I knew quality :) But Erasure - well, they are the love of my life in the same vein ABBA was to my mother ;)
This is an absolutely fantastic cover but until original is simply peerless and an all time classic. This isn’t better than the original but they definitely did the song justice.
I love this channel . 43 and still listening to them. This was my very first CD I ever got as a kid and I was so excited. I believe I still have that too.
When Erasure performed in Brazil, I think it was 1989/90, me and a friend went to the airport to try to talk to them before they went to back to UK. We met them, and we talk to Andy. He was super nice (he was wearing Madonna’s Like a Prayer t shirt) and we talked how much we love Madonna.
You talked with Erasure members about how you love Madonna? that is funny. They were here in Uruguay those days, I believe it may have been the same tour.
Why Erasure sounded always so good. Cause Andy's voice obviously but Vince analog synths. They are warm and full. Incredible and they are english. That's it
Demasiada perfección entre lo que sentimos y el video. Cada vez que lo veo recuerdo mis 20-30. Preparar todo para que lo que sabemos se va a ir la mxxxda. Ansiedad
Everything Andy Bell is doing in this video is literally me when I'm taking care of household chores: dancing around and singing like a dork the entire time, whether or not it's appropriate 🤣
ABBA was so cool to let them use their music and they were/are known for being harsh! But Erasure totally nailed it and it wasn’t just a karaoke version, I think they made them their own, especially Voule Voi !!! I think it’s Andy’s unique voice and Vincent’s also unique way to make electronic music! I’m wondering wether to watch them or not in Copenhagen (as Depeche Mode also is coming too, can’t afford both) damn 😓 !
For those who are also ABBA fans, they've just announced a new virtual worldwide tour in 2019 along with two new songs "I Still Have Faith in You", and "Don’t Shut Me Down"... should be fun :)
For those who are also ABBA fans, they've just announced a new virtual worldwide tour in 2019 along with two new songs "I Still Have Faith in You", and "Don’t Shut Me Down"... should be fun :)
This was No1 back in the 90's and it was a genius EP...haven't played this one for a while...it's usually the other tracks I play more!. Still a good cover.
Considering the conceptual nature of the very EP and the two exquisite videos being "Take a Chance On Me" and "Lay All Your Love On Me", it is too bad this video (and to an extent also the one for "Voulez-Vous") is so formal by comparison. Superb ABBA covers regardless... Erasure remain the perfect ABBA.
S.O.S. should have been a stand-alone single release, and the remix on ABBA•esque The Remixes should've been more vocal and less dub/Instrumental, too. It should've been an extended dance remix version.
Andy in this video and in the others, looks so handsome, wooow!! and I dont care if he consider himself as a gay, it doesnt matter, but the important here is his beautiful as a man. and of course he sings incredible, his tone of voice is cool !!!!
Is a truly pleasure to see Andy as he is, a man without the ridiculus make up that he usually wears, GOD created a man not a clown who believes is a woman, C'mon Andy I think you are a really really smart, pray to the Lord Jesus because only Him can to break the evil chains
They made more than one video for the Abba esquseqe EP I bet the record company were not happy about it. It takes a lot of balls to cover Abba songs even if it could have affected their credibility they did have the guts to do it.
They made four videos (one for each song, albeit three of them were very low budget), and I seriously doubt that Daniel Miller at Mute Records had a problem with this because he is all about artistic freedom. In fact, he probably thought it was a great idea because Erasure had been doing ABBA covers (different songs than these) on occasion for years during concerts for a special treat, and they were so good at it that this EP was practically a no-brainer. Unfortunately, what actually took guts and cost Erasure their credibility was their self-titled album _Erasure_ . Personally, as an Erasure fan from the very start, I think this album contains some of their absolute finest, most brilliant work, but it flopped hard and turned a lot of people away from the band. I guess it wasn't what they wanted and/or expected from Erasure, which is obviously something very poppy. There is nothing wrong with catchy, poppy songs, but Vince and Andy wanted to do something different musically in this case (their take on ambient), they succeeded in spades, and I think the result is pretty darn catchy in any case, but sadly the public rejected it, while the ABBA covers hit #1.
Andy Bell most underrated singer of the 90s. I always loved him
Er ... no ... no-one underrated him. NO ONE.
This entire album is still gold. They killed it with every cover
Then you have to listen the version of solsbury hill of Peter Gabriel!!
It is amazing!!
A tortured Testament to Lost Love, highlight of an outstanding EP
Great rendition! These lads nailed it!
Erasure are soooo talented! They way they remade this song in their own distinctive style is so amazing! ❤
Vincent Clark is pure talent..genius.
Vince was one of the founders of Depeche Mode.
Vince was so on his synth game with this song... and I dare say; better than the original!!
I like this version too 😃🎶.
No, it's ok, but no way better than ABBA. That's simply impossible.

I totally agree

One of the best voices in pop music. Together with one of the best on handling the synth.
Thank you
Totalmente
Brilliant cover of an iconic ABBA song. Vince Clarke is a genius.
Andy with his perfect voice too.. An ángel
@@alejandramonszon3466 Yes!
I Dissagree with that statement
What a profound opinion. So insightful.
You are right....
I've always enjoyed ABBA, but I like every single Erasure's cover of their music even MORE.
Agree, incredibly I would have to say Erasure's version of SOS is possibly even better than ABBAs - and that really is saying something
i almost comment the same, i like ABBA songs but i like more the erasures versions
I love this channel . 43 and still listening to them. This was my very first CD I ever got as a kid and I was so excited. I believe I still have that too.
I'm 44 and they were my first CD too. Had tons of their cassette tapes too lol. Happy days.
The long hot summer of 1992 in North London, a lovely time when Erasure were number 1

GENIOOOSSS!!!! Super oportunos en esta Cuarentena!
My favorite song on Abba-esque! I don't understand how the other songs on the album seem way more popular.
I agree
Erasure covering ABBA songs! Love this album!

Here we go again with this great tune, Andy looks so good, ohhhh my God, your creation is amazing
Erasure are way ahead of their time , great cover version
By far the best song on the EP with a great video set in a posh part of North London. I was 10 during the long summer of 1992.
un super tube de 1992, très électrique, mais qui donne envie de danser
One of THEE best covers evah!!!

Excelente Cover I Love ABBA
Mi padre ponía estas canciones cuando yo era una niñita en esos años 2007 , si que alegraban el día .
Bedicones
Legend has it that this video only cost $9.47 to produce
great cover. Came out at this time and played it alot

Jakeb Arturio Braden I bought it on vinyl and played it always ! Damn they made awesome music back then! (I feel led when saying that)!

Passive aggressive housework + Vince on a violin
Violin was his first instrument indeed. It was said by his own words in an interview
love the camera work
Thank you for your work, I forgot this one sorry, so cute!
Quality track. Particularly stonking bass on it too... :)

Amazing video!! It captures being alone and crazy at home perfectly.
how's that working now
I know whenever people speak to Vince about this project he kinda shrugs it off, but the synths in this is sublime ❤
What a great video and what a great song!
In this video, Andy is seen in the apartment of his partner, Paul Hicky, doing all kinds of household chores
This is the most decent cover version of S.O.S. as performed by Erasure.
I LIKE THIS COVER AND THIS VIDEO. MANY THANKS.

Churro, guapo!
it is really pity that he so handsome and so talented had not normal family and children - the continue of the best he had...(((((((
Vince Clark has a wife since 2004 and a son...
the importance here is that he's a brilliant singer, frontman and lyricist.
Andy Bell is gay? Well I'm shocked! 😉
Wonderful
Buenas vibras
Love&Paece
Video was basically made for 'CD-UK' because they got to four weeks number 1 in the UK

Buena version de esta cancion de abba. Rem. 1992.
I bought ABBA esque in a small record store in Bray, Co Wicklow Ireland... On my way to my job packing boxes in Microsoft. Seems surreal now.
If you'd put all your spare cash into Microsoft shares back then you'd be very rich by now
I love this cover
