I love Dame Cleo and during her last dress rehearsal for the national touring company of "Into the Woods" she invited me to watch and we had a lovely visit backstage and I even got to steal a kiss from her as well. She is just an amazing woman and instrument and I adore her and find her simply smashing!
omg she looks amazing and her voice :) i love it i know i'm seventeen but i don't care what people think i love her (: and she seems like a lovely person too
Hey, I was about 14 when I discovered her, and I was mesmerized. I started listening to Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. But, once I heard Cleo, I never looked back.I used to save up my babysitting and horse stall cleaning money I earned just to spend it on a ticket to see her in Portland, Oregon. What my parents were thinking to let me go see her alone, I will never know! It was the '70's... I also took a couple of my favorite high school teachers to their concerts when they played Portland 1974-80. What kid does THAT? Then, I moved to SF and LA and saw her in those cities several times. I've been a big fan ever since.
I have to say - I am so amazed at how wonderful the tone of her voice STILL is. I love Cleo Laine. Could someone please tell me - Does she permanently walk with a stick? Or was it just something she needed for a little while?
She had knee replacement surgery and fully recovered. But, she tripped over a suitcase and broke her leg below the knee (according to an interview statement by her husband) and had 9 screws put in. She's used that cane ever since. That was around 2005-6-7-8? She had to scrap a U.S. tour and recover for 7 mos.
Incredible!!!! How classy her voice, not to mention her rendition is!!! Thank you for sharing
Still our best ever jazz singer! Even at 81!

wow
The host was pretty funny, but I could understand only about every third word he said, and Cleo Laine; what is there to say?
I believe that O'Grady was once her cleaner.
