The MDA Labor Day Telethon was an enchanting yearly variety show that ran for half a century. Hosted for many years by Jerry Lewis, the telethon featured top stars from the world of music, comedy, and Broadway and was like no other show on earth.
The telethon was created to help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which is leading the fight against muscular dystrophy. MDA dedicates itself to strength, independence and life. To learn more about MDA and to donate, please visit www.MDA.org.

Rip Jerry Lewis 1926-2017.
In 1959 when Jerry Lewis his telethon which then was the weekend before Thanksgiving I fell in love with his song smile I am known as a Jerry Lewis look alike I would sing smile at talent shows I was 11 years old then and was so moved at the end of the telethon when he tried to sing You will never walk alone but could now finish it with such emotion he had. I fell in love with that song too and sang it in talent shows. When I was 43 I started a singing career and then started a music/talk public access TV show The Mr. Phil Show. which is in its 21 year now and expanded to many areas and on to You Tube TV. I was involved with M.D.A and helped with some local fundraisers before the telethon and got to be a part of the telethon in 98. We have a telethon to raise money for my public access TV station and I host it. I always sing Smile at the start and at the end I always sing You will never walk alone to thank my fans and viewers for the support they gave me all these years and for giving to the telethon. Thank you Jerry Lewis as you inspired me to to all this.

God bless Jerry Lewis, but while we're at it some one should help his 6 boys who he left out of his will,and A daughter from an affair he had yrs, ago who he never acknowledged or helped, God bless him and forgive him ,

"The idiot" after the separation from Dean Martin took a lot of satisfaction ... he was able to make a show at 360 degrees. A true entertainer. We miss you Jerry.
I remember Cleo Laine back in the 1990's and I had a woman who use to come into my Robert Harris Coffee Shop regularly and she was a dead ringer of Cleo her surname was Gentleman she loved to eat one particular scone that we made with dates in it so they were made regularly for her

My mother told me Charlie wrote this, it was her favorite and sang it often. She also loved Jazz.
