I really like they way you present your self and the TRX4 . Thumbs up and rang the bell. Just so you know there are people my age 75 who have just gotten into this hobby and I find the sheer number of cars and trucks amazing. I just bought my first rc car as of 6/20/2019. Thanks for the no nonsense review.
I already bought one. There are three weak spots. The shocks, the wheel hubs, and the driveshafts. You may need to buy the Velineon esc fan as well. But over all, it’s a ton of fun!
Much the same as I. I couldn't decide with a desert rock garden in front of where I'm living and 3/4 of an acre of open desert in the back which Traxxas RC to buy. Since the hobby shop had a Rustler 4X4 VXL on the shelf I bought it and then ordered a TRX4-Sport a week later. I'm having an embarrassing amount of fun with both. Hint: I recommend the front suspension arm protectors for the Traxxas 'Stampede' be installed on your Rustler. They will HUGELY protect the front lower shock mounts(2mm hex heads) as well as the suspension arms from rock/impact damage. Also; If there are sand and small stones where you run your Rustler purchase some elastic poly-fiber surgical/food service hair nets to fit over the chassis/electronics and center drive shaft. Tire-flung stones and sand will gall the living hell out of the drive shaft on the Rustler 4X4 if not so protected. You can order them through Amazon.com $7.99 - $12.99 per 100count. I use a couple rubber bands and a thumbnail's worth of duct-tape to fit/hold it in place. A protective cover for the driveshaft made of a folded piece of construction paper /cereal-box will guard against the protective 'hair-net' getting tangled in the drive-shaft.
I have the one without the Tracks, after seeing it become bogged down in the snow, and how much better the tires did over the tracks, I decided not to add the tracks. They look super cool, but are really belter suited for sand mixed with water or deeper type small streams.
Bruh I've been in like 8 ft of snow with mine. I did the 2 speed transmission conversion the extra speed helps, but like Robert wren stated the snow track makes the difference
Very cool, I just got the new version of that, came with traxx installed, lights, expedition rack, and wheels and tires, and the tracks are deep terrain tracks, they have aggressive lugs can't wait to try it out tomorrow...👍
You can. I have a mamba x in my trx 4. With a 3s lihv protek battery it HAULS ASS. Will do wheelies down the street even in the rain and offroad its more of an 800 hp ultra 4 offroad buggy than a crawler. And at the the same time i can slap it in first gear and go crawlin
@@RCKYOTA The TRAXXs are speed limited due to the oil-lite bushings and construction.. They can literally melt if you go above the indicated speed that is why the warning specifically says they are meant to be used in 1st gear only....
I saw where the price point was right at $600. I'm a penurious son-of-a-bitch; If I was to do it all over I'd throw down for this TRAXX model along with 4 alternative wheels and tires rather than the original 'Sport' in a heartbeat. You're getting $200 worth of popular accessory upgrades and clear windows for you 'Scalers', and a $200 set of '4' totally superfluous, practicality challenged, but brilliantly engineered, hugely cool and massively entertaining caterpillar tracks.
This car is now $530 street price with a free set of wheels/tires as well. When you factor the price of a regular TRX-Sport, add on the LEDs, much better detailed body with $90 of additional accessories (Expedition Rack, Snorkel/Mirror kit & inner fenders) and $200 set of Traxx along with a free set of wheels and tires, it's pretty much a bargain.
just got my trx4 with tracks. it's pretty cool, threw fpv on it right away. Would like to see upgrades / bearings so I can use brushless or something. overall I enjoy it, the tracks are beast in cold snow
Nice Andrew! I bet that FPV Traxx view is great, especially when you're somewhere warm while driving in snow. We've never used the Traxx in snow before but I imagine they're amazing. Enjoy! -Brett
Thanks, yeah it’s fun. This thing has some serious control on snow terrain, seems like a good value with the body, the traxx, and the extra wheels they’re adding in the kit right now. Hope they continue to add cool features and give me new stuff To consider!

TRX's are awesome, the Sport might as well just be the BEST crawler ever! ...but not a fan of the tracks... in some snowy/muddy scenarios yes, but don't think would crawl as well as the stock, on tires, especially on steep sections, since it raises the CG even more... And why shouldn't you use it in 2nd gear? I've heard they're rated to 6S... not that I'd go over 4, that's just ridiculous, which I guess it's the excuse to do it :))
@@AMain_Hobbies Yeah, I meant the Traxx, obviously you can put whatever combo on the Truck... then again, maybe they're not officially rated to high power, just happened to see someone abusing them on 6S, and good to see they're holding... Thanks!

Not bad. I'd rather see it coming with a gear set to make it a half track. Was there a reason the right rear track is backwards in the running video footage?
Ended up putting a 16 tooth pinion with a Holmes Hobbies Trailmaster Sport 12-turn on it. With a 3S pack, it's now able to keep up with our walking speed on muddy park trails.

We need full bearings in the TRAXX on 3s 😉
So you can't change motors, esc or gears to make it faster? It's a cool truck, but I'm really not into crawlers.
